Quality Piano Moving

Quality Piano Moving transported our piano in late March 2016, and did a wonderful job. It was an all-​around good experience. We had done diligent research in advance, and had contacted perhaps five different piano moving services. Quality Piano was quick in the communications with us and accurate with their estimate. We made it clear that we had a small window to move the piano and needed it to be be done within a few days. They had no problem, and apparently did not charge any extra. The movers arrived promptly, were dressed professionally, and took care of the piano. I highly recommend them company.

Great job! I had a piano that needed to be moved from the far western suburbs to the northern suburbs. Reasonable quote; called me the day of with an eta; showed up on time (even a little early!); and were extremely gentle in moving the piano. Overall, a great experience and I’d definitely recommend them.

When I contacted Quality Piano Moving, they responded the same day. After providing the type and size of piano, address for pick up and drop off, and number and type of staircases, I was given a quote. The quote was reasonable for the service, and they were able to come just a few days later. Three professional movers showed up on time and treated my piano very gently. They also moved the piano bench. They had paperwork for me to sign and I paid by check. They even gave me advice on tuning, & the best wall on which to place it.
Before they brought the piano into my house, one man asked if I’d like to dust the back so I didn’t get the dust in my house (this was a gift from someone who had it sitting on one place for a long time). I wouldn’t have thought of that.
I was concerned about getting the piano through my narrow doorway and showed them another entrance. They all came in, assessed the situation, and assured me they’d be able to safely get it inside through the front entrance. And safely, they did!

These guys are great. I first used them 3 years ago, to move a treasured family heirloom from my parents’ home in Wheaton to Evanston. They moved a 56″ 100+ year old upright, with a casing in amazingly good condition. It had been around the world with my military family and was always meant to come to me. That happened suddenly when my parents relocated to the west coast, driven by a need for additional support with my mother’s advancing Alzheimer’s. I mention this because the movers were extremely kind to my mother, who had great difficulty parting with the piano.
Fast forward to my move this weekend to a new apartment. I’d learned in the time that I’d had the piano that it couldn’t be tuned anymore, that it was beyond its last leg on the inside. I also didn’t play it more than a few times in the 3 years I had it. I needed to move it with me or dispose of it. I knew I wanted to upcycle it somehow, so it needed to come with me. But I had mixed feelings about continuing to move it.
Joe took my call, and remembered me and my piano from the first move. With lots of stairs on both sides of this move, it was going to be more expensive than I expected. They gave me a good price, but I was conflicted about whether it made sense to keep it.
The guys saw there was a back way to move it and avoid the stairs, and tried to do that (easier, and would have saved me more than half the cost). The piano didn’t clear. If that had worked, I probably would have kept it. But in the process of that attempt, they confirmed that the sound board was cracked. And as they pulled foot board off, I’d started to see that the pieces were very beautiful, could even be simply mounted on a wall. This was what I was looking for. I opted to salvage as much as wood I could from the beautiful piano casing and move ahead with disposing of the piano. (They adjusted the quote accordingly). It was a difficult decision for me and I vacillated, but no one rushed me. (I think they’ve seen this before too). I joked with them that they must see a lot crying women, and they said they see a lot of crying men too.
Not everyone will have the needs I did, but am including all of this because their flexibility and responsiveness to the situation helped me tremendously and I appreciate it. And it sounds like the circumstances of my moves are not unique in their world.
Kindness aside though, these guys know what they’re doing. With the first move, the piano wasn’t clearing the stairwell, and they took apart what they could and got it through. They took great care of my piano. They clearly know what they’re doing. They told me they are the ones called in when other movers can’t make the move, and I believe it. I don’t think I would have anyone else move a piano for me, particularly one of any monetary or sentimental value. They are expert in what they do.

I found them online and was a little hesitated to make an appointment at the beginning. The lady answered all my questions through email and told me they had availability on the date I wanted. They showed up according to the time they had told me and were very polite, friendly and professional throughout the process. I high recommend them!!!

So responsive over the phone – even on the weekends. The best deal around too! Quick, respectful of our home, and friendly. Treated us and our 100±year-old piano very well.

I used QPM to move two pianos. One was a 52in upright from the top floor of a 3-​flat in Chicago to a home in the NW suburbs. They did such an amazing job I had them move a 9ft Steinway grand piano from a home in the NW suburbs to a home on the North Shore. I was impressed again. I had previously used a regular moving company who convinced me that they had a special license for moving pianos as well. Apparently there is no such thing. Anyway, my upright was damaged from the move with the regular moving company. From then on I vowed to only use QPM because they only move pianos and they definitely know what they are doing. I will have them move the 52in upright into their storage facility and I completely trust it will be taken care of there. The moving and storage prices are very reasonable.

These guys were great. Very professional, quick, and clearly knowledgable about pianos — not just about moving heavy stuff. Communication was prompt, friendly, and they were very accommodating of our schedule requests. I will definitely use them again.

These guys are amazing. I inherited a piano that I could not keep and was giving it to a friend who was paying for the moving. When they arrived to move the piano, they pointed out a cracked leg and all kinds of problems with the piano and suggested that it might not be worth moving or safe to set up. This was a pretty surprising suggestion considering they would make their money from moving it. I thanked them and asked how much I would have to pay if I were to cancel. They had already shown up with 3 guys, after all. They told me if they don’t move it, I don’t pay. They said they would rather lose the job than make money on a bad situation. That is integrity! I tipped them anyway, and was happy that I chose such a great company. I will definitely use them from now on!

I had bought a baby grand piano and had it moved. I was disappointed by being charged extra when it was delivered even though they were able to use the Elevator avoiding the stairs. After it was delivered I noticed that two key had been damaged when they shifted the keys back in place (they transported it on its side). While the repair was only $ 295 they refused to pay the damage they caused. I was very disappointed in the quality of the delivery.

I had a good feeling about Quality Piano Moving after Jaime responded to my quote request within 30 minutes. She explained that its a flat rate, no hourly hidden fees etc (I was charged what I was quoted).
Pickup was scheduled between 8:00 and 10:00, I got a phone call at 8:00 letting me know they’d be over in 20 minutes, and they were.
In terms of the move, WOW! Joe and his crew are amazing. Super friendly and quite possibly super human strength. The moved a Steinway 6′ Grand down a Sprial Staricase, no nicks, no dings no nothing. They also moved an Upright Piano up two flights of stairs. They made moving my Organ look like cake.
When I have to move into my new studio, I know exactly who I’m calling!

I needed to move an antique, heirloom, upright piano from the suburbs to Madison, WI. I shopped around and Quality had the best price by far and uncluded insurance. They told me they would pick up the piano between 10 and noon which would put them in Madison no earlier than noon. They were here at 12:15! They had planned on taking in through my walkout basement but with 4 inches of snow, that was a no. But the 2 guys said no problem and down the stairs it went. No bang or bonks, I was impressed! Thanks!

I called Quality Piano Moving to move an upright piano from 23^rd floor of high rise condo in downtown Chicago to single family home to Oak Park, IL with 6 stairs from street level. They were punctual, courteous and best of all, AFFORDABLE! since my old piano wasn’t worth much but we still wanted to keep it. I would definitely recommend them.
