Authentic peruvian food. I enjoyed my meal but it certainly could have been better. My lomo saltado was a little bit overcooked and dry, papas rellenas were very good and the anticuchos were ok. The service was very authentic too hahaha. A bit slow but I did like my waitress. Maybe the price/quality ratio is what gives this places few stars but I could go back if I’m craving peruvian food and I’m in the neighborhood.

Peruvian food is among the best in the world because of its variety and taste. The food at Chichos, although not the best, is tasty. However, don’t expect fast service! They can take up to 2 hours for you to be served! Very disappointing. Then when you get it, it’s the wrong order! I recommend Inca’s Café in Carrollton.

A group of us went to Chicho’s for lunch and I was very underwhelmed. The service was S-L-O-W to the point that at 50 minutes, a couple of the co-workers had to ask for their food in to go boxes because they had to get back to the office. For those of us who stayed, we ended up taking almost a 2 hour lunch! There was NO lunch specials, so all the plates were not only dinner size plates, but well over $ 20 for a fried rice plate that was mediocre. My Peruvian friend was so excited to show us a taste of her home that I did not want to disappoint her to say I would not come back to Chicho

Food quality is good, but the service was awful. Took 1.5 hours for lunch and only 5 of the 15 tables had customers. I will not return.

Decided to eat here for Peruvian Independence Day and it was such a disappointment. For it being a national holiday the restaurant was way understaffed and it took forever to get drinks and food out. Most disappointing of all was the ambience. Rock music and salsa was blaring on the sound system but no typical Peruvian music nor décor was on display. I had the anticuchos and they were good and milanesa de pollo was good as well. For it being Peruvian Independence Day… huge disappointmen.

As a Peruvian was looking forward to try this place for awhile, but what I dissapointment Tried the Ceviche and it was the worst I eat in The DFW area. Small portion and not tasty at all. Hoping that it was just one dish; ordered Arroz con Mariscos, presentation was good, portion size great BUT it lacks taste… Will absolutely not recommend this place to other people or come back. Need to improved in the quality of their food !!! P.s had to wait awhile to get the check and pay

Tried Chicos for the first time tonight. Food I left hungry as the food was terrible. The ceviche had milk in it. The menu description states it cooked in lemon juice but no mention of dairy. In my opinion that’s a big ingredient to leave out. I ordered pescado a la chorrillana. Traditionally it fish in a light tomato broth. What came was fried fish covered in sautéed onions, olives and saturated in a very dark salty sauce. Tasted heavy of vinegar and soy sauce. Not good at all. My daughters ordered the fried rice. Ok but again way too much salty sauce. Service Worse than the food. Our ceviche appetizer was served with no plates. Nor. Could we get wait staff attention to get some, needless to say our table was a mess. Never once were refills offered, the wait time to order was very long despite only 2 tables occupied. Will definitely not come back. Incas is much better!!!

I’ve been here two or three times. It’s honestly not the best Peruvian food in town, but they are fine. More basic than the competition a few miles away. Also a bit cheaper. The food is good though. I’ve traveled extensively in Peru(spent more than 3 months there total among 4 different trips) and the food is authentic and tasty. Don’t miss trying the aji de gallina(shredded hen in a creamy sauce), lomo saltado(think fajitas but with french fries and rice instead of tortillas and an asian flair to the sauce), empanadas, ceviche(fish cooked overnight in lemon juice), arroz con pollo(a staple), and more.

POOR… POOR service, no attention to anything especially towards customer service… there was only 1 other set of people when we arrived… parking lot was empty… now we know why! I’m Ecuadorian but LOVE Peruvian food… and I’ve never had Ceviche de Pescado with«milk» in it… aside from the fact that we advised the waiter we had Lactose Intolerance… obviously it did not seem to matter! We were wanting to try this place out for the Pollo a la Brasa… they didn’t have any ready… asked for Caldo de Gallina… out of that too! asked for some Maduro Frito… u guessed it… NONE! Bottom line… NEVER going there again! Only a 5 min drive from there is Incas’ Café… WAYBETTER food and service! Heck… I’ll even drive out to Garland for Machu Pichu! If I could do NEGATIVESTARS on this post I would!!!

Sat at a table at 8:40 on a Saturday night, when they are open until 10:30. By 8:55 we still had not even been acknowledged. We left and won’t be back.

I so much wanted to rate this restaurant better but there are REQUIRED improvements that need to take place first. Unilocalers have accurately rated it $$; however the establishment looks like $ or less. People will spend to experiment with foreign cuisines but they want to feel good about the splurge. In this case, feel like they have travelled to Peru not to a place with pitiful warehouse liquidation-type furniture. I used a coupon and took the precaution to ask before ordering – no problems. While I know nothing about Peruvian food, I do know what I like and this was good, albeit too salty. The chicken breast topped w/shrimp was tasty, reminiscent of étouffée. The fish soup was generously packed with calamari, fish, shrimp, mussels and very satisfying – I was not hungry for hours! Staff was polite and attentive; they just need some serious sprucing up.

Shady shady shady business practice. Came with my Groupon-drove 20 miles in pursuit of good Peruvian. Evening completely ruined. I walked in with a valid Groupon. Owner decided he was no longer accepting them, pointed to non-existent sign on the door(which we looked for and didn’t find on our way out). I made him come out to speak with me, he kept blaming everything on groupon, and offered no concessions. We had to pay full price. We spent more than we would have trying to use up the Groupon value, which only added to the annoyance. Great marketing, guy. He’s clearly not the smartest person in the world, if he decides to partner with Groupon to promote his business and then screws his clientele. Will never go back.

Not the best Peruvian in town… Chicha drink was great, slightly on the sweet side. The group also enjoyed their cusquena beers. The group split the fried seafood platter, which came with an assortment of delicious calamari, shrimp, oysters and yucca with multiple dips to try. Pretty good. We also shared the Papa a la Huancaina(potato with yellow sauce) which was OK. My Peruvian friend makes it better. I ordered the Seco Norteño with rice and beans, and if it weren’t for all the rice to mix with, it would have been way too salty for consumption. Its a homey beef taste, nothing fancy. The others in the group enjoyed their fried rice variations, but did look somewhat oily. Desert was great — two dollar Alfajores. Its a cute little cookie cake with caramel filling, and small enough for everyone to enjoy after a full tummy. Service was fine, bit on the slow side. Also they did not accept the groupons we purchased, even though we complied with the requirements listed on the voucher. Its slightly annoying to have to go back on groupon to get the refund, instead of just having the establishment at least take the value we paid for it. Looks like it would be pretty happening on salsa night… they got a mini drum stage in the front with err interesting music videos playing in the background.

Arrived at 6:10 and the doors are not open on a Monday. Is this a Salsa dance studio only, with a bar? No food? Doors opened at 6:30 but no diners. I’m confused. Website is not helpful. No hours posted. It doesn’t have a full bar. Just select liquors and beer. No wine.

My husband and I went back on a Friday night because I had purchased a Groupon. The service was much better. We were waited on very quickly and the owner even came and checked on us a couple of times.

I have visited all the Peruvian spots in Dallas and I can honestly say, as Peruvian, this is the most authentic and best value. All my favorites were there: ceviche(AUTHENTIC), roasted chicken, aji de gallina, Chica, ect. The food is fantastic and the owner is an incredibly friendly. You can catch him breaking it down with the other dancers on Friday and Saturday nights when they play salsa or have a live band. With all that being said, service is still a work in progress. The owner was taking orders, serving, and running around like crazy. Also, snobby foodies be warned. This is a hole in the wall do don’t expect valet and fancy furniture. They are just starting out and have a ways to go but overall I can’t wait to come back and bring my friend!

We have tried all the Peruvian restaurants in the Plano — Richardson — Carrolton area, and this is the only one that is worth returning to. The place is not fancy at all, and the service is a bit below average, but the food is good. We had Yuca frita and Jalea de Mariscos, and we were very pleased. Everything was fresh, crispy, and very tasty. We still have to try a latin cuisine place in lake highlands that serves peruvian, but for now, this is our favorite.
