i only like this place for their drink specials. only reason i would come by here on Tuesday’s for their $ 2 drink specials all night. They have commercial sushi, lots of sauce, and that’s not my taste. however, if you do like that style, this is a great deal for you… 3 rolls for $ 10 — can’t beat it!

Crappy, crappy, service sucks. Manager was rude. But it doesn’t matter now. They’re locked out because they didn’t pay rent. It is now closed! I work on the building. Hopefully they put something nice in!

Table was dirty. Plates required replacement since the first set was dirty. Cold food was served warm. Warm food served cold. Bill listed items we did not order. Wait staff said it adds up the same. Very strange. One item we ordered never arrived. One of the worst dining experiences I can recall.

Good deal on the prices if you go on a Wednesday 3 basic rolls for 10 $. One thing though is that the service is a little bit lax. They don’t really organize themselves well and they aren’t very prompt. I do recommend the firecracker roll. Delicious. Prices aren’t awful if you hit the specials. Music can be pretty great at times and it is good for groups.

The numerous times I’ve been here, I’ve never experienced a problem of any sorts. The sushi is amazing and so creative, so many flavors. Their drinks are great and cheap… On this occasion though, I went around 11:45PM and it was me and a couple of friends. We walked in, seated ourselves and we waited about 2 – 3 minutes and no one came to greet us or speak to us or offer us waters. Our table had not been wiped clean, so one of my guy friends got up, went to the bar and asked that someone come clean our table. The waitress that was in charge of our are, not once, but twice, looked at our table, nodded and never even once came to even speak. So we were thinking she was coming over to us after tending to other tables. She looked our way AGAIN and never came over. We decided to just get up and leave. We couldn’t believe that not a ONE person came over to speak to us or even ask what we needed and all we wanted to do was have a couple of drinks and relax. Very disappointing experience, very surprising.

Best sushi restaurant for the price! ! C’mon, 3 rolls for $ 10? You can eat unti you can’t take it anymore for $ 10? Where dey do dat at? I got the Louisiana roll, tornado roll and crunchy tuna roll… ALL delicious and deep fried(that’s what makes it better). Their drink happy hours are usually all day before 9… something like that and the rolls last until about 6 or 7! They use fresh ingredients on everything! At times I get concerned because my sister and I are usually the only ones in the restaurant… maybe people come later? I think it turns into like a club after 9 or 10. I got the Chaucer’s martini… didn’t taste like alcohol at all!(Maybe there wasn’t much in there)…but it was still very good and girly! We took my sister in law for like a girls’ night out… peeerrrffffeeecccttt for that occasion! Great Place To Just Chill And Hang out! CONSERVATIVES Might want to stay away… my waitress was a tank top away from being naked… what’s up with that? Anyways…everyone is very nice and friendly. .great atmosphere… get good vibes from this place! im a fan!!!

Terrible service and the sushi was the worst I’ve ever had anywhere. It was gross actually. Huge waste of money. And pretty much all the rolls are deep fried.

The sushi rolls were good and they are a good value if you go during happy hour which includes all day on Wednesdays. The service on the other hand is terrible. There were only 5 customers in the restaurant and sushi bar and it took the waitress 10 minutes to take my drink order only after the sushi chef noticed she hadn’t come by yet. After I was done eating, it took another 10 minutes to get my check and then I watched her screw around with the cash register and credit card machine for 5 minutes trying to get it to work swiping the card a dozen times. Finally she takes my card and after another 5 minutes I finally get my card and can leave. Bottom line. Food is decent when it’s happy hour but the service is bad.

This place is continuing to go down hill and fast. Went for lunch and placed a to-go order. Was told it was take 15 minutes, so I decided to wait on the outside deck, and notified the hostess/waitress to grab me when ready. She responded, in 15 minutes you come back in and it’ll be ready. …okay, no biggie; however, you’re the one working a tip here. So, I go outside, eat up the social feeds and get up to go back inside after 15 minutes and discover I’m locked out. No drink, no one to hear me pounding on the window and the exit gate outside is locked(both of them), as well. So, I call to officially get their attention and they come get me. Making jokes. Some one hand me a towel, it’s 98 degrees out and I’m sweating, please. So, I go to tab out and it takes, literally, 5 minutes for them to find $ 9 in change to break a $ 20. Then, their receipt machine breaks and here I am. Adding into this post.

This is the best place for a late sushi/roll with an open bar. Everytime i come here, i am satisfied with the environment. They have djs, good music, and good drink specials. Because of these environment, i did not expect much from the sushi but i was extremely suprised how fresh and sweet salmons were! During the weekend, the restaurant turns into more of a club environment with cheap drinks and rolls.

It seriously has been years since I’ve been to this place. I came here for happy hour last night with some friends for drinks and sushi. We ordered a variety of plates, but the hits of the night were the Las Vegas roll and the Butterfly Kiss. Sit at the bar because the bartenders are awesome. It was a little dead inside but picks up around 10 pm when they start the reverse hh and goes until 2 am with a DJ. Love the patio too!

This has to be the worst sushi place I have ever been! In the 2 separate visits we got terrible services. First the host didn’t even greet and seat us. Took the waitress 20 minutes to get our drinks. After we ordered, the waitress never came back to refill our drinks. When she finally came back after waiting over 45 minutes, she didn’t bring our food but just to tell us they ran out of some items we had ordered. And still no refills. With so so many other sushi places in Dallas. Save yourself the trouble, and treat yourself to better sushi and better services by NOT ever going to Chaucer’s!

Went here today for lunch with my wife and her coworker. Let me start by saying the service was great. Décor was ridiculously bad, but maybe that was the goal. I had the chicken teriyaki that comes with mashed potatoes(thought that was weird), but I subbed fried rice with the chicken. My wife and coworker both had sushi rolls. Their food came out after approximately 10 minutes. While I waited, I tried some of the rolls they had. They were decent, but definitely not worth the price. I’ve had sushi at some mediocre places that is comparable to this. It was ok though. It definitely wasn’t bad. The yellow tail roll was about as narrow as a quarter. Luckily it was«happy hour» at lunchtime, so it was only $ 4, but still it didn’t feel like we got what we paid for it. After my wife and coworker had been eating for 10 minutes, my food came out. The sauce that came on the food was good, but it’s kind of hard to mess up a teriyaki sauce. The chicken was overcooked and tough, while the vegetables were scarce, other than onions. There was a plethora of onions, and the occasional mushroom and broccoli, which unfortunately for them are my favorite. I had maybe two pieces of broccoli and three bites of mushrooms, compared to a full onion and carrot it seemed. I would go back if I was having a lunch meeting and someone requested we go there, but I would not voluntarily suggest going here. LONGSTORYSHORT: Pay for prime food, get buffet food.

I’ve been here a lot and I can honestly say it’s just ok. Service is ok, food is ok… they have great drink specials if you drink. On a Friday nite it’s pretty nice. The DJ plays a good mix of dance music, which I got to get my groove on to. I was enjoying the company of my friends(and getting my flirt on too! nothing new there:))so we had a good time!

I used to LOVE going to chaucers for their happy hour after work; they have really good specials for their rolls, some are two or three for $ 10. However, since moving away from Addison I hadn’t been in a really long time. When visiting a friend I decided to go back as I was craving their deep veggie roll. I was so disappointed. Our waitress was awful. Ill-trained and, unless you’re a frat boy, couldn’t care less about us. Additionally they changed their volcano roll by adding weird things to it, and the overall quality has just gone down. Very disappointing, as i had always raved about this place to friends. It seems as though this location is lost as far as what it wants to convey as well. Is it a club, sushi bar, etc??? Who knows anymore.

I really had a great time here! I went on a thursday night with friends and they have an amazing happy hour. they have 1 dollar wells and 3 dollar jacks! the waitstaff is not the best, but they are nice. it took a while to get drinks, but once they started following out, it was all good from there. they asked us what kind of music we wanted to hear, i thought that was great! we wanted hip hop and they played it! the food is good as well! i will be back on thursday’s for their happy hour!

This is a decent place to drink and enjoy an evening with friends and act silly around their dancefloor. DJ there was pretty good. He played mostly more current electronic music. The drinks here are average priced. They do offer jello shots. The best part of this place seems to be that you can order sushi at a late hour. We enjoyed the red dragon roll the most. It’s this california roll with a couple different proteins and the best part has to be the red hot sauce that they put on it. It gives it a good Bam!

This restaurant used to be really good until management changed. I haven’t been here in years, and I recently visited this place to catch up wtih some friends. They do have pretty good happy hour specials, and they don’t stiff on their drinks… BUT it will take about 30 minutes to get an order for a drink, and once it’s time for another drink, there’s another long wait(buzz kill). Customer service here isn’t up to par, it wasn’t packed, so I don’t get what takes so long to get a simple drink. My favorite sushi roll is the dynamite because everything is fried, and I know it’s cooked. HAHA If you want to start off with an appetizer, I recommend the spicy cajun edamame. Make sure to order what you think you will like, or you will have to jump through so many hoops and back and forth conversations to finally exchange an order. A friend ordered the spicy tuna roll, and she didn’t expect it to be extremely spicy, and the manager was not willing to exchange the order at all. If you know we are going to be spending some money at your restaurant, it’s good customer service to exchange. He finally decided to exchange the order after I said that I will be writing a review. I’m not trying to get anything free, I just want to be able to eat something that I know I will enjoy better instead of my mouth being on fire.

Having just moved here from Phoenix, I missed my sushi spots back home and decided to go searching for my next new sushi hot spot in Dallas. So, I Unilocaled my way to Chaucer’s and found myself in a little bit of an awkward situation. #1. I went to dinner alone(as in by myself) and everyone there was with either a group of friends or on a date. #2. I was in business professional since I didn’t bother going home first and everyone else was in hot clubbing/dance apparel. I guess people dress up when coming here on certain nights or the weekends. However, I did manage to have a VERY filling dinner. It was happy hour when I came in and the sushi rolls were pretty decent. I think I had 4 rolls all to myself. My bill was probably around $ 15 dollars, so that’s not bad at all! Yes, I may be small in size, but boy I can sure eat.(I guess that’s why the sushi chefs were giving me strange looks). :)
