We came here for my sisters birthday. I have. Heard nothing but great things about Buttons since I moved to the dfw area. We went on a friday night around 9:30pm and the place was packed. There was no parking so we had to valet for $ 5 which wasn’t a problem. Upon entering we ha to pay another $ 5 pp since there is a cover charger after 8 which we had no knowledge of but okay fine. Once we were in we were seated right away in a booth in the back. Our server dawn was really nice and attentive for a friday night. They had her busy but she was great none the less. I ordered the plate with 4 wings and a side of mac&cheese and greens. My sister and her friend split the chicken and waffles which were huge portions. The chicken wings were off the chain. I ordered two regular and 2 spicy. The spicy sauce was out of this world. The m&c was a little bland not much taste to it, but the greens were pretty epic. They reminded me of my grandmas greens with the fat back and bacon in them. Yes lawd!!! While eating we heard the band on stage start up with some Frankie beverly and maze«before I let you go» which is my jam. Check it out, you’ll love it!

Came by for a late dinner with friends and both the food and drinks were tasty and not badly priced. They are getting one star because our server wrote in $ 10 tip for herself on my receipt and the receipt of one other person at the table. I called 3 different times and either the manager was out and would call back or I was left I hold for so long I gave up(10 min one time). I will NOT be back! Check your statements people!!!

First let me say that I have been to Buttons several times over the years and the service and food were always great, however my review is based on my most recent visit this weekend. I do not like the fact that there is a cover charge during certain hours to simply eat, but it is what it is. Maybe they should consider removing the 5.00 charge for patrons that actually eat. Some friends and myself went to celebrate a friend’s birthday(it was my friends first time going) and everyone had a different opinion about their food. One of my friends and I ordered the chicken and waffles, she liked hers and mines was okay. The waffle was perfectly cooked, fluffy and well made. The chicken, all dark meat, was a bit greasy and it was just okay. I could have done a better job myself to be honest. The greens were good, well seasoned with a great smokey flavor. The sweet potatoes were quite disappointing as this used to be one of my favorite things to eat there. They were bland and I did not like the texture(they reminded me of very lumpy mashed potatoes). Others ordered chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak and they enjoyed both. For dessert, the sweet potato pie and bread pudding were ordered. The sweet potato pie was good(although it was too hot to eat initially) and the bread pudding(according to my friend) was awful. It looked like a thick slab of fruit cake and it was very dense. The band that was playing was really good and played a wide variety of songs. The service was subpar and unprofessional. Our waiter was acting over the top serious, not friendly, and it appeared that he may have been on something. He did not come to check on us and when we needed refills of water, he was nowhere to be found. To top it off, we paid with cash and he never brought our change back — how ridiculous is that! I am sure I will visit Buttons again and I hope that I can give it a better rating with my next visit.

First time going here. The location is in great proximity to downtown Dallas. The Food — Good. Not great. I had the chicken and rice which had flavor but not the southern cuisine I’m accustomed to. Parking — Get there early. 8−9pm. Parking is a challenge and after 9pm you will like be waiting in a long line to valet your car. The Music — The Buster Brown band was good. As advertised they played soul, R&B and jazz music. What made me 3 star this restaurant is because There is a two hour maximum time you can sit at your reserved seat. Yes, that’s right, maximum time. So after two hours you either have to stand at the bar(which is crowded) or leave. If the time stipulation would have been disclosed during booking I would have given them 4 stars.

The Stars honestly were only earned from the chicken wangs. The atmosphere is ok. Come with friends! This place is a little over priced unless you come for happy hour. The service is as everyone says it is… Which is why there aren’t any other stars other than the two. And I got lemon and a lemon seed in my Stevie Wonder drink that consists of baileys and what not. So lemons definitely don’t belong. The bar tender was ok. She was just concentrated on making drinks but had forgotten that half her job is customer service also! Waited a while to order. And she never cleaned up any of the finished plates. The lady next to me waited a while to get her water also.

Hanging out with son and family friend at Buttons in Addison. If they can just have enough servers to take orders more quickly I’d add another star. But I’m cool with it overall

My second time at this location, yet first after 7PM. This was due to a birthday party invite with a 7:30 kickoff time. Anyways, there isn’t enough parking spaces in the front of the venue to park in, so you are kind of forced to pay the $ 5 valet service. Not terrible, considering. Our booth/table area was situated in the center of the restaurant and parallel to the stage, which was an excellent place to observe the live band for a Friday night. Drink choices were reasonably priced. I purchased beer tonight($ 5 for a Stella Artois, a little more $$$ for a martini for her) and was satisfied. I chuckled a bit when I saw that Shiner Bock was on the beer import list(now that’s funny). For a table of 14 people, I was quite satisfied with the prompt service(thank you, Chrystal). She was able to bring out drink orders + appetizers accurately, as well as fresh. The table appetizers consisted of calimari, salad, and chicken wangs(not wings, wangs). No complaints whatsoever. Plenty of entrée choices here. Some of the popular ones that the table ordered was the chicken fried steak as well as oxtail. The latter of which had heavy proportions where you just couldn’t eat it all. I did notice a couple of folks from our table request to-go boxes afterwards. As for myself, I didn’t order an entrée due to wanted to stick to alcohol for the evening(I settled for shrimp tacos), which were quite appetizing. I’ve only been at this location in the evening hours after 5PM, and not 9PM. There is definitely a cover charge after 9PM, since the venue turns into a club of sorts. I understand why folks complain about there being a cover, yet at the same time, understand why the venue charges it in the first place. Considering what it is used for(to pay for the overhead costs of the featured musical entertainment for the evening), I’ve seen nothing but quality entertainment come through here. Tonight’s musical entertainment was a Houston-based quintet of two saxophonists, an electric guitar, a drummer, and a keyboardist. Awesome show! My prior visit consisted of an artist that specialized in getting the venue’s patrons involved in line-dancing. The crowd here is interesting. It really does depend on the time that you arrive here. During the evening, you’ll see the professional crowd with classy attire for the ladies and suits/blazers or business casual for the gents. Quite old school, yet classy. However, you will get your occasional folks that arrive in club attire, shorts & wife beaters, and act a bit too ratchet and loud. Not sure why. Maybe its a Dallas thing, or just something unusual. I dunno. Never understood why folks get stupid & loud over a $ 5 valet fee(when its $ 20 in comparable places in Dallas) or complain about drink prices when its double everywhere else. Overall, this is a pretty cool venue. Can’t wait to see the Fort Worth location.

Let’s just say this. Anyone who knows me knows that I love to eat. Me and my sister decided to try this spot for dinner tonight. The absolutely worst decision ever! We came here because Max’s was out of reach due to the traffic on the tollway. Shall I begin? Ok! Let’s go! First, there is a hostess station and no host. A gentleman by the name of Keith, sat us at a table. He was the best person there. You hear about him later. After being seated she and I waited about 10 minutes for Tarrance, the waiter from hell to come and take a drink order and walk away. Now keep in mind Keith had just gotten a large table and was relaying the latest and greatest. Drink special. Happy hour pricing and everything. What does Tarrance do, not a got damn thing. Now he walks by and my sister was like hey, why is Keith giving specials and you aren’t giving us anything? He then goes on and relay everything that we have overheard from Keith. We finally get our food, which was hella overpriced and underwhelming. My nephew could cook better than what I was served and he is four. You know your food is bland when one adds salt, black pepper, and hot sauce. I don’t even like hot sauce all that much to be requesting it. But it happens. I actually ordered a Red Stripe. Which came after he politely walked by 50⁄11 times. By this time, we have come to the conclusions that he was high off of something. He then brings the bill sit on the table. Then he walks off. Then he walks back by. After three passes. He picks up the bill and there is no credit card in there. My sister and I were still engaging in conversation like, we normally would do. We asked for something else, it was delivered cold. As if he brought it from the freezer in a to go box as we were sitting there to continue our stay. We advised that it was cold. He proceeds to remove it out of my hand and walk away in mid conversation. That sealed the deal for me. I think I would ever in my life go back into that establishment. We had to then locate him to pay the tab which meant is leaving our seats. He or any manager could took care of that. Nah. That was asking too much because neither was available. I finally located the manager and asked to swipe my card and he gave me the ugliest look known to man. He didn’t ask why my waiter wasn’t taking care of this or nothing. To not disrupt the rest of the patrons, we decided to step my the bar. Wrong move. We smelled the restroom from the bar. Not cool. Not cool at all. I had my tab and we left. All in all that was the absolute worst service I have gotten to date. The absolute worst. I recommend no one but the Lord himself to walk through those doors. That way he can get some order in that house. I am sorry but I have to be honest.

This place is awesome! I would Come back a hundred times more. Our server Keith was amazing. We ate and the food was really great. Then we had Salsa dancing lessons because it was their Latin night. The dance instruction was another great treat. It’s a great time for a date and especially for our girls night. We had a little downtime after our busy MaryKay day. The perfect chill time and so much fun. Traveling from New Jersey to Dallas I was so happy about this choice.

Her name was TaKiesha! We ordered the fried green tomatoes as the appetizer. My entrée was the fried shrimp and fish over jalapeño cheese grits. So I’m a foodie visiting from Virginia. So the night before I flew in, I was watching Mystery Diners on food tv and Button’s Restaurant was on. So I arrive in Dallas and to my delight, this place is a block away from my hotel. We arrive at 730 Saturday night. We couldn’t find a park so we had to valet and it’s $ 5. This place was pretty full, but there were ATLEAST15 empty tables that I counted during our 40 minute wait. So, I’m wondering to myself why are we waiting 40 minutes? We sat at the bar and had a purple kiss… don’t order it, it tastes like robitussin. So finally we get to the table and it takes forever for our waitress to come. Their menu is limited. About 7 or so main entrees; one being chicken Alfredo. Chicken Alfredo at a soul food restaurant is suspect to me. Anyhoo, we both get the chicken and waffles. It came in less than 10 minutes and it was HOT. I MEANSMOKING. The chicken was seasoned well and the waffles were good once doused in blueberry butter and syrup. It was decent. Nothing to write home about, but I can see how this place is extremely popular with the 30 and up crowd. I’d come back for the live music.

Surprisingly one of my good friends has never been to Button’s. I’ve been to Button’s in Addison, Fort Worth and the now defunct location in DeSoto. He was wanting some really good chicken and waffles. So Button’s was the 1st place that came to mind. We went early before the crowd arrived. Our server was named Keith. I must say he was an awesome server. He was very knowledgable of the menu. He informed my friend of all the events and live music they host. He was very pleasant and outgoing. We started off with appetizers. My friend had the wings and I had the flash fried shrimp. I never had this and it was interesting. The shrimp was battered in tempura. It also had this drizzle of cheese sauce and mini jalapeño. Honestly, I wasn’t ready. LOL! It was the most interesting flavor combination. I kept eating it but was thinking this is so weird. For the main course, my friend had the chicken and waffles. I passed on this and decided to step outside of the box. I order chicken friend chicken with mashed potatoes and mac n cheese. Ugh I should have gotten the chicken and waffles. My chicken fried chicken was rubbery. It was over cooked and the flavor was bland. My mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese were okay. Again, very bland and had to be seasoned. I look across at my friend and he is tearing into his food. I mean he is not looking up. He is completely enamored with his food. At least my sweet tea was good. Meh. So today I learned to stick with house speciality. Don’t venture off and be trying other ish or you will be disappointed. My overall experience was really a 2.5 but since our server was great. I’ll give it a 3 star rating.

I was visiting and heard about this southern food restaurant and wanted to try it. It was on a sunday. I did not like the menu choices so by default i had to get the buffet. From the buffet the rolll/biscuits were delicious. The brisket was very tender and full of flavor. The shrimp creole dish was spicy and good. The mac n cheese had a unique twist on it, but good. The greens were okay, cooked with sport peppers. The chicken and waffles were good. The syrup mixture made it great.

MEAL: Wangs & Thangs 4 signature spicy chicken wings, collard greens, and mac-n-cheese. $ 16 Peach Cobbler $ 6 Lemonade $ 2 The chicken wings were flavorful. Unfortunately the sauce makes the skin soggy and not crispy like you want when you bite into fried chicken. The macaroni and cheese was deeeeeeelish! The collard greens although quite flavorful were way overcooked to the consitency of canned spinach. The cobbler I ate two spoons of and pushed away. Peach cobbler is my favorite dessert, I’ve definitely had better. ENTERTAINMENT: The Rob Holbert Group performed, they were awesome. I’ll definitely be back to hear them again or search for them at other venues. LOCATION: The restaurant is nice. Parking is ample. Seating was comfortable. The bathroom was a mess. Our server was polite and friendly. We visited on Wednesday 05/27, ladies night. The restaurant was mostly empty. They were running a $ 5 margarita special. I noticed advertisement for a latin salsa night in Thursday. I was told the brunch is very good, I’ll be back to try it.

I was visiting the Frisco area for work and my 6th grade bestie picked me up and brought me here. She said it was a cool spot with live music and good food. So, we went on a Saturday night and it was packed! There was a $ 5 cover which I was gladly ready to pay. We don’t get many $ 5 covers at cool places in SoCal. As soon as we walked in it was pretty much shoulder to shoulder but I couldn’t help but dance a little because the live band was on point. The lead singer was amazing and I’m shocked this lady doesn’t have a record deal. I mean this lady was sangin her a$$ off. I loved that the crowd was mixed in age. There were people in their ‘30s, ‘40s and up and everyone was just chillin and havin a great time. I was really into this spot. The only thing that was a downer for me was the service. When my friend our name on the list for a table they gave us a 2 hour wait. I was listening to the music so I didn’t even mind waiting that long. The crappy part was when we went back to the desk to check in and see if we had moved up the list the other hostess said we weren’t even on the list. Ummm no. I don’t know how it happened but we ended up getting a table shortly after that went down. I ordered the chicken and waffles and they were pretty good. Again, the service was meh. Our server dropped off a drink at our table that none of us ordered. She wasn’t sure who ordered it so she just left it there. Sure, I’ll take it. I think they were just so busy and probably under staffed but they have to be this busy on a weekly basis. I find it hard to believe that this was just a fluke. Anyway, I liked it here but maybe I’ll go back when I can get a full experience and not everything pieced together.

There is real joy in the air at Buttons. My fiancé visited recently to see a friend’s band, and truth be told, we both needed a blow out after a hard week at work. We both remarked that everyone, servers and patrons both, seemed intent on a good time and really friendly. The food is southern comfort food. I tried the Wangs, Wings, and Things. It was a nice plate of hot wings — real wings not preprocessed lumps of meat and bone that you so often get. My lady had the salmon and it was delicious. Drinks were strong and moderately priced. If there is a Hall of Fame for Dallas service industry folks, our server certainly has his picture hanging up in it. He was serving the main floor and was super efficient and friendly. I watch him serve us, begin with new tables nearby, and wrap up services for previous patrons. At each stage, he was focused just on those customers, courteous and attentive. Overall a good night out.

Oh my oh my, I really wanted to give Buttons a better review and a higher score but this place was such a disappointment. After hearing great reviews from friends and reading multiple mixed reviews on Unilocal,we were excited about trying Buttons while in the Dallas area. It was a Tuesday night so we expected the crowd to be light. We called before we went to make sure they’d be open and to ask about specials. We were told that they would be open until 10pm and that a swing class would be going on at the dance floor. We were fine with that. Upon arrival(7:45p) we were told by the hostess that the kitchen was closed. Mind you, we just called and were told that everything was open til 10. We were NOT happy! We were seated anyway but kept being reminded that the kitchen may or may not serve us. Our waitress, who was very sweet, finally came back to us and said the kitchen would remain open. After we ordered, we noticed a nasty stench. It was rancid! According To our waitress, the smell was due to an old bar area being cleaned out. I don’t know how much I believe that, it honestly smelled like sewage. The food came out in huge portions(TX style) but it was nothing to write home about, actually the food was a let down and a waste of calories. Everything from the salmon to the chicken wings to the chicken and waffles was subpar. I didn’t taste any seasoning or anything special. What a let down this was. If I ever go back, it would be on a Friday night for drinks and the live band. I’d pass on the food.

This place is actually kind of tricky to review. The food was just okay but the energy with the dancing and the lessons and the music was really good. So let’s start with the food. I had the wings half-plain half spicy, macaroni & cheese, and collard greens with smoked turkey. The plain wings were really good. The spicy wings really sure how to describe it but they were just ok. I mean sriracha seems to be the new hot sauce. The collard greens were kind of salty and the macaroni and cheese weren’t that exciting. They were offering stepping/dance lessons and in between sets people practiced their moves or did their own thing. Most importantly, people were having a blast. I could see myself going back there for drinks or something like that but I wouldn’t be in a hurry to go for dinner.
