I can’t say enough good things about the owner, Rick. I called just about every place this weekend and due to it being Thanksgiving, most places were either closed or just wanted to send out a tech for something I had already diagnosed.
After speaking with Rick, it seemed my theory on the problem was correct and luckily, had the part I needed. He THEN came in after normal business hours (Saturday morning) to sell me the part. He’s very knowledgeable and courteous, contrary to the one review.
I will be using him for anything I ever need

If I could rate this place negative or no stars, I would. Please don’t let the 1 star fool you. This place BLOWS… even when they leave you without a blowing a/​c.
During our rare 90 degree heat wave we had a few weeks ago, I found myself with a hot-​blowing a/​c. I’ve used the same co. for a while but based on the recommendation of a family member, I decided to give A Perfect Climate a try. Mistake #1!
When I called, I asked if I could have an appointment for that day. I was told they busy but that they could possibly fit me in. I also asked about charges and quote and was told they do free quotes. Never once was I told that there was a $ 65 MINIMUM «trip charge». We made arrangements for later that afternoon.
Around 1:50 pm I receive a call from the tech saying he was down the street. When I made the arrangements I specified that I work close by and that it would only take me 10 mins to get home. I reiterated that to the guy on the phone and he said «OK, I gotta go to the parts shop in Glendale Heights, I’ll be over in a half hour» OK, fine.
When the guy shows up, I explain the problem and how I’ve had another co. out but several months prior. Tech asks to see the invoice/​paperwork from the other co. I go grab it, he reads it and says «yeah, you need a new condenser motor». Not once did he open up my a/​c unit to inspect himself. I ask «how much» and he says «$ 600». NO THANKS… especially when the prior co. quoted 50% below that. I said I couldn’t afford that. The prior co. also oiled the part just to get me by for a few months… days. hours…whatever. Yes, I know that oiling a part doesn’t «fix» it but it could make it last through the next 2 days of scorching heat. I tell the tech guy that the prior co. oiled the part, could he do the same. His response «No, that it would only help temporarily». Thanks for nothing. He then says that today is going to be $ 65. Excuse me? For what? «Ohh…I gotta charge a trip charge» What is this trip charge? The receptionist definitely didn’t mention that. Had she mentioned it, I would have gone to my prior co. as they only charge $ 10 «fuel surcharge»…not some outrageous $ 65.
At this point I feel uncomfortable as this guy is in my front entrance. I paid the charge with the hopes that he would leave my home and that I could call the next day to resolve the issue.
This place is operated by liars.
#1– Paperwork states he started traveling to my house at 2pm (He called at 1:50pm only a few blocks from my house saying he was going to Glendale Heights. How is it possible that he started traveling to my house at 2 only 10 minutes later?).
#2 — Says he arrived at 2:30pm…TRUE
#3 — Says he left at 3:15pm…FALSE. I called my mom (to vent) at 2:43. I was back at work (which is 10 minutes away) at 3:05pm. How was I back to work when this guy claims he was still at my house?
I called the next day to complain and to kindly ask for my $ back. I speak to Rick… presumed the owner? Rick was pleasant to deal with until I said I wanted my $ back. Once I said I wanted the charge refunded he got very nasty and argumentative on the phone.
I asked about the time discrepancy and he said he wasn’t sure. He said all trucks have a GPS so he looked up the time stamps and verified that the guy lied about the time and that he would follow up with the tech.
I also asked about the $ 600 part quote and Rick said that wasn’t accurate and the part is more like $ 200 – 300. So was this tech going to pocket the extra $ 300???
At the end of my convo with Rick, I mention that I won’t be using them in the future and that I have someone who works in HVAC that could fix it (I found out about this person LATER that same afternoon otherwise, I never would have called A Perfect Climate). Rick’s response in a cocky tone «well, if you have a friend in HVAC, why didn’t you just call them in the first place». Nice way to treat a customer Rick!!!
Since my mom referred me (she just dropped $$$$ on a brand new unit), she was pretty upset on how they treated a new customer, she calls to complain as well. They (Rick) tell her that, get this, that the part in question should never be oiled AND that there was evidence of oil on the part. Now, how the hell did the tech see evidence of oil when he never opened the unit??? C’mon. Must have x-​ray vision.
Overview:
#1 — was never informed about a «trip charge“when I called to make the appointment
#2 — Tech lied about time spent at my home
#3 — Tech lied about the quote for the part
#4 — Tech/​Owner lied about seeing oil on a part that (as far as I can see) can only be seen when the unit is opened… which tech never did.
I tried to resolve this issue directly with Rick but the company must be hard up for $ 65 (I know I am!!). His only solution is that he will fix the part for me (charging me of course) but won’t charge another $ 65 trip charge. Wow, how sweet!
Thanks but NO THANKS. I will never give another DIME to this company.
