We started as a 4 track recording studio, and have grown steadily through the years, evolving from an attic bedroom studio to a 4000 square foot, 2 studio facility.

Eric C.
Business Owner
Eric Kilburn began playing music for a living in 1981, and starting recording the music of his friends on a 4 track cassette deck in 1984. One of his first recording projects was with a little-known Tufts student named Tracy Chapman. Wellspring Sound began in earnest in 1986, when Eric opened up a $ 10,000 credit card, and spent it in an afternoon, acquiring the first gear for his 8 track studio. Since then, over nearly 30 years and 4 studio spaces, Wellspring has been an obsession for Eric, as he’s constantly strove to build the best studio he could imagine. Wellspring now is widely known throughout the jazz, alternative, roots and folk community as the place in the Boston area to get a great-sounding recording for a reasonable cost.
