Macaris Pizza

The menu drew us to this place because it all seemed authentic and good, boy was I mistaken!
First off the décor is horrid. Not Italian at all, its like a pathetic attempt to entice tourists in with loud colors and murals on the wall.
Awfully uncomfortable, cheap seating and tables, with plastic place mats. I was expecting more because the menu prices were a bit steep, and after eating there I would say they are down right a rip off.
Now the service, clearly several of them were foreign, but had terrible English, and seemed to barely understand what I was asking for. Then while eating our apps, she just stood in the main dining area, chatting with the guy at the bar, while constantly staring at us, literally every minute or so, I timed it. Its just awkward when your trying to eat, and you constantly see someone in your peripheral vision looking at you, not a glance, but almost a stare.
The app was OK, mussels did not seem fresh but probably frozen. Then my main, came, which I was excited for because it was listed as pan seared sea bass. One would expect a nice sear on your fish, ESPECIALLY if they leave the skin on. Nope! I could tell it was frozen because there was so much water on my plate from the cooked fish, that the sear was nowhere to be found, and mushy skin was attached to my filet, making it absolutely disgusting. I promptly returned it and decided to just share the pizza my girlfriend had because it was quite large. Well they even managed to screw that up, so burnt you could barely cut it let alone eat the crust.
I left hungry, and disappointed. In her defense she did attempt to offer me another main, but at that point I was too afraid to try anything else.

This is great place for lunch and does the best Ice cream in the Bay, This is very similar to a 60S diner and the views of the harbour is price less, Give it a try as its been in Torquay as long as i can remember and we always stop by for an ice cream
