Joshua’s Convenience Store

This is a much larger shop than the modest frontage suggests. Stocking a
huge range of magazines, sweets and alcohol, it’s already smarter
than your average newsagent.
It also operates as a convenience store, supplying locals with a selection of fresh fruit and veg, essentials like bread, milk and cereals, plus handy ‘emergency’ items like bin bags and greetings cards. The freezer section is just about large enough that they could probably get Kerry Katona to advertise it. ‘Quickie teas’ are to be found, plus puds, but the real find is the range of locally-​sourced curries. Tucked away at the bottom of the freezer it’s a brave man that buys a tin foil container with no branding. However these meals are pretty good.
With an opportunity to play the Lotto too, there’s also a slim chance this place can make you a millionaire.

Spotlessly clean inside and offering a copious range of foods, drinks and household essentials, this handy corner shop stocks pretty much everything you’re ever likely to need for day-​to-​day domestic life. The store’s range of pet food and refrigerated products are particularly impressive and there’s even a cash machine inside for those of you who, like me, regularly end up going out with an empty wallet.
Unfortunately, Joshua’s is incredibly cramped inside and offers no parking facilities whatsoever. A bus stop is situated just opposite and the aisles aren’t the tightest in the world, but the store’s claustrophobic feel does undeniably let down what is otherwise a very handy, pleasant and reasonably priced local shop.
