Quite simply put, no! When a party of 8 arrives for dinner in a fairly empty pub on a Saturday early evening on a bank holiday weekend, you would expect a warm and grateful welcome. This was not the case. Problem 1. We were first told we could not sit in the dining area because guests of the inn would be using it shortly, NOTONE person sat in it the whole time we were there. No problem we said, we will happily sit at a large table in the bar area. Problem 2. We ordered drinks whilst we waited for the rest of our party to arrive, these drinks never arrived. There were probably only 3 other customers in the bar and they were in no way swamped. We all had fairly standard pub food, nothing to write home about, but all dishes were served together and warm. «Would you like to see the desserts?» why yes we say we’ll take a look at the menu. Problem 3: «Well if you want desserts you’ll have to say now because the chef is going home in a minute» It was 8.45 on a bank holiday weekend Saturday evening. Apparently they were too busy with the phantom guests in the dining area to adequately serve anyone else with anything resembling good service.
