This place is straight up ridiculous. I live in South London and can’t think of somewhere in the big smoke similar to this place, it’s great. I was mesmerised by their menu, didn’t know what to order as it all looked, smelt and sounded so delicious. Guess what, it was tasty too. It was rammed when we rocked up there at 10.30pm, full of students. I’m jealous that I didn’t have somewhere like this when I was at university — somewhere open late that didn’t involve getting drunk. The coffee was average, but you’re there for the ice cream and brownies, right? Well you should be. Go now.

THIS is progress people, ice cream served freshly scooped from 8am until 12am every night! So I’m on a bit of an ice cream kick as Summer’s finally here, but I’m fussy and G&D definitely sell the good stuff. I purposely only bought a single scoop tub, as I was already planning to return for what looks to be a potentially amazing ice cream cookie sandwich. Sadly my visit to Oxford was all too brief to fit in a second sitting. I chose the ‘Oxford Blue’ and a dinky glass bottle of coke for my consumption. The ice cream was a fruity and delicious blueberry flavour and despite purchasing a single portion it was very generous — I had to be pretty adept so as not to waste a single spoonful, as my ice cream cup runneth over! The café had all the Saturday papers and it was nice to sit and have a break after traipsing around the city tourist-style. Also extra brownie points for having PLUGSOCKETS and plenty of them. So great for anyone needing to charge their phone or use a laptop. I didn’t check about wi-fi. Minus one star because the toilet was proper GRIM. Stinky, damp and with an overflowing bin. Yuck!

The best place to go for ice cream, coffee or indeed anything café-wise in Oxford. Shame about the lack of wi-fi in at least one of its three stores!

This place solves my issues with UK opening and closing times. One of the only non-alcohol selling places open past 11pm, it’s a natural magnet for students either on a late night binge or suffering through a self-inflicted essay crisis. This particular location is spacious in terms of seating, with your pick of large benches or tables. Sometimes it’s a tad pricey for what it is– but considering nowhere stays open this late, I would be willing to give them my whole wallet on one of my hungry nights. And boy do they have comfort food for your essay panic… bagels of the pizza and plain variety. Cream cheese and lox. Their soup of the day is always delicious, particularly the broccoli and stilton one with croutons. Omelettes! Ice-cream was the first thing on their menu and I can see why this place took off because of it! Delicious home-made ice-cream with flavors like ‘Rum and Raison’, ‘Yogurt and Honey’, and ‘Baileys and Sweetcream’(I like it boozy, so what?). Their baked goods are great as well with pecan and apple pie as well as cookies. For those really seeking a sugar rush, try the Cookie Monster: ice cream between two cookies of your choice. But I have to say my favorite thing here is the waffle. Light and fluffy eggy melty delight loaded with ice cream, nuts(or sprinkles), chocolate syrup, and whipped cream. I dare you to finish one. Seriously, try it. My only complaint: they forgot about my waffle last time I was there meaning I waited in anticipation for over 20 minutes. Not cool. So now that I have shown you that I have basically tried everything on the menu, you should go and try it for yourself.
