The Lounge

great location for the bar, only really go here if i am catching a train as far better bars in newcastle, i dont hate this place, just average and too expensive to get away with average in my opinion.

Nice bar and can have a good atmosphear. location makes it accessible to visitors, staff could be a bit more friendly or at least be happy to see you, not bad though well priced, and good selection. Excellany place for a quiet drink away from the hustle of theshops during the day.

The lounge is a great place to eat at lunchtimes, with very good prices on their meals menu and tasty food. I usually go there on a visit to Newcastle as it’s never been too busy or loud except when a Newcastle United football match is playing. The scampi is pretty good, as is the small selection of Italian foods (pizza, pasta), and the upstairs seating is without equal in the city centre in terms of comfort or solitude. If you don’t mind sinking into absolutely massive sofas (why would you?), head on inand spend a quiet hour or two. On one visit I even noticed a young family taking a nap during their busy day of travelling, that’s how quiet and relaxing it can be! This is a useful place to meet with friends before continuing your visit of Newcastle sights, as the Lounge is well-​placed between the Monument and the Quayside so that you have lots of choice for places to go after your meal and drinks.
