I would say an average 3. Some of the staff in this branch can be cheeky so if I’m planning to visit pizza express it’s not going to be my first choice location. Pizzas can be nice but not oustanding and sometimes not hot enough. Cold plating doesnt help and also knives often not sharp enough… What can help you overall experience is to ask for some balsamic syrup on the side! Its lovely and definitely upgrades any pizza in my humble opinion. Years ago pizza express did ice cream bombs which were sensational… bring them back!!!

Headed to Pizza Express with Roz for a cheeky mid week treat. We both had soft drinks and ordered Romano pizzas. American hot and the new buffalo mozzarella. The pizzas are always good and thin and crispy. You can’t really go wrong with express reliable good food and service! Cost wise we had a 241 voucher which made the experience even better!

Everyone loves a good pizza express, but sometimes they can be hit or miss on service and quality. Not this one… it is fab. Lunch or evening, in a rush or want a leisurely meal, they cater for you. And the pizzas are never scrimping on toppings unlike some places. Lovely and friendly every time. One of the best pizza expresses I’ve been to.

I always enjoy a visit to Pizza Express. It’s reliable. However I wouldn’t consider it without tastecard or other such discount. I think the full price is a tad expensive for what it is. For a starter I had the Bruschetta con Funghi. I always do. It’s simple and delicious. This was followed by an American Hot with the thin Romana base. Fabulous! For a dessert I wanted chocolate fudge cake. They had run out. Ok, maybe the chocolate glory? They had run out of that too. Nothing chocolatey left. So I opted for the toffee glory which was a kind of sundae. Curiously the toffee fudge it contained was in very angular cubes which were quite hard(semi frozen) and they didn’t mix well with the ice cream. In all I enjoyed my meal but it was not worth the £54 bill(for 2). Good job tastecard brought it down to £33!

This pizza express is located in Picadilly gardens. Inside there is some unusual art work on the wall in this large and open space. All staff are very friendly and we used the tastecard which gave us 50% off the bill food. if you like pizzas this is the place to try.

This restaurant is in a great location overlooking Picadilly Gardens. Pleasant to sot outside when the weather is nice. Inside is fresh with a good ambiance. Food of usual Pizza Express standard with nothing to say bad at all and equally nothing to rave about. Enjoy, i am sure you will…

While the food is as good as any other Pizza Express(which is rather good) the service wasn’t as good as my local restaurant :-(I will give them another try next time I’m in Manchester just in case this is an anomaly.

If I start by saying that Pizza Express is Pizza Express and that, barring any major balls-ups, the food is of a consistent quality pretty much regardless of where you go(a Sloppy Giuseppe is always a Sloppy Giuseppe, just as a Big Mac is always a Big Mac) and finish by saying that I don’t mind the food here and that it certainly eclipses the quality of product on offer at other about-as-Italian-as-Vienetta chains Ask and Bella Italia, then what I am really judging here is the quality of service. On that basis, then, I have not been overly impressed with this branch. On the last two times occasions I have visited I have come with just one other diner and still have been left waiting for up to fifteen minutes before our drinks order was taken. On the last visit once our food was ordered it was almost three quarters of an hour before it arrived — bearing in mind the order was two pizzas exactly from the menu with no alterations. Our waitress was friendly enough but the speed and attentiveness of the service, particularly given that this was a midweek afternoon, was just not up to scratch. Considering the prime location of this branch it really is a bit of an embarrassment.

Pizza Express is one of the most underrated restaurant chains in the UK. People are snobbish about it and based on my experiences(and there are a lot of them), I cannot see why. Pizza Express offers great food at great prices, and does it in a way that does not make you feel like a grunt in a canteen. The Pizza Express in Piccadilly Gardens is one of the best situated, and best appointed restaurants in Manchester. It is impeccably designed, and feels very sophisticated and individual, despite being part of a chain. The tables are big and spacious and are matched with comfortable seating and views over Piccadilly Gardens. The food is excellent, and well worth the price. It is freshly prepared in full view of the diners, so you can be sure that nothing is being done to your food that is untoward. I have never had a bad meal in this Pizza Express, and the staff always bend over backwards to suit any changes to a dish, and will happily add things to dishes, and likewise, take things away(if anybody else doesn’t like anchovies!!). The service is prompt and efficient, and the waiting staff is very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, as it provides superb food and very reasonable prices, and you genuinely feel like you are getting your money’s worth from your meal.

Me, I like Pizza Express. Because I like pizza, I like pasta and I like dough balls. And Pizza Express gives me all of these things, at a good price, and tasty too. Now, of course, this could be said for any Pizza Express anywhere, but the Piccadilly branch is notable for 2 reasons: — its location. It is slap bang in the middle of Piccadilly Gardens, which means it’s supremely easy to get to, and can be a good convenient meet – up. However, don’t sit outside unless you like the smell of weed wafting from the archway while you eat. — the staff. The staff here are incredibly friendly, and they remember you from visit to visit. Which is always nice. At the end of the day, it’s not my favey dave Pizza Express, but it is a solid contender.

I mention this Pizza Express although I have looked at Manchester’s other offerings, because when I ate here it had a slightly different vibe to its siblings. You’ve got your big family restaurant in Salford Quays, your intimate cosy basement setting in the Triangle and a particularly rustic café feel on King Street. Well, this one is rather like a canteen. I’m talking long Wagamama-esque tables with benches. Luckily when I headed there, I was with a very large group for the BF’s birthday and one of my companions was actually a former Pizza Express employee who verified that the ingredients are always quality, recommended the Romana bases over the others and said that the best topping by far is the goat cheese with caramelised onion. I was inclined to agree as that’s one of my favourites. It’s packed with the usual friendly staff, but the warning here is that the feeling is more than clinical and minimal. Definitely not one for an intimate date or even a close couple of friends, but for parties and large groups it’s more than ample, and the Piccadilly Gardens location provides some opportunity for people-watching.

Is there anything better than kicking back with a bottle of good wine, a plate of hot pizza and some fine company? I don’t think so and this new branch of Pizza Express provides the perfect location. Situated in the middle of Piccadilly Gardens, it’s flooded with natural light throughout the autumn and winter and turns al fresco in the spring and summer with half a dozen tables spread outside on the patio. The good news for locals is that the company have just announced that they’re extending their Special Offer of 50% off all pizzas eaten in until 31 January. All you have to do is log onto the website and download the coupon. And you thought your Sunday couldn’t get any better!

I went here today for lunch. As it was a sunny day, we sat outside. Service was very quick, we were only waiting a few minutes before our drink order was taken. The starters came out about 10 minutes after ordering and the mains about ten minutes after that, so definitely a good place to go if you’re in a rush. The food was excellent, as was the service, very friendly smilely staff. Great place to go when the sun is out!

Popped along here for lunch with friends. We were all served quickly and our courses came out quick — great no waiting around! Good choice of pizzas and other Italian mains, good quality — the American hot was very nice. Pizza Express can be a reasonably priced meal out(we had a BOGOF voucher which was even better!) but adding drinks to the menu can put that bill total up easily! Not much choice when it comes to beers and lagers, the choice extends to Peronior another kind of Peroni — most limited choice I’ve ever seen. Suppose more people choose wine with their pizza but nonetheless a good place to eat. Will have to compliment the lady serving us, great attitude and very friendly.

I love Pizza Express for a quick lunch — Much better than the Pizza Hut Chain as the Pizzas are more authentic. I went to the new Pizza Express in Picadilly in December, I had a Buy one Get one Free Voucher which was great value. We went on a very rainy lunch time and the restaurant was packed with office workers but we were soon given a table and the service was extreemly quick so the fact that it was so busy was never a problem. I ordered the Padana Pizza which is topped with Goats cheese, Spinach and Caramelised Onions — the flavour combinations were really tasty and i’d definatley recommend it. My boyfriend went for the American with lashings of pepperoni which he very much enjoyed. The service was quick and friendly and they accepted our Buy one get one free voucher without any questions asked(Can always be a bit embarrasing with a voucher)!! A great place for a Quick and tasty bite, try and avoid peak times and it’ll be more relaxed and enjoyable.

The newest of the bunch in Manchester, this Pizza Express has a prime location on Piccadilly Gardens between Barburrito and the inexplicably popular Kro Piccadilly bar. It’s a fairly pleasant place to eat, the room is spacious and airy, and the massive windows give a great view over the gardens. The meal my girlfriend and I had was nice enough if unspectacular, pretty standard Pizza Express fare. We ordered a bowl of olives(which had some of the biggest green olives I’ve ever seen) followed by bruschetta — this was ok, not the best I’ve ever had though, don’t think it really works with the dough base they use. We shared a Pollo Pancetta pizza — the menu says this has a pepperonata base a creamy and aromatic sauce made with red and yellow peppers, although it pretty much tasted like a standard chicken and peppers pizza, pleasant enough but nothing special. You always know what you’re getting with Pizza Express and this one is no different. Good service, nice pizzas but lacking in any real character. It’s better than Pizza Hut but has nothing on Croma or Felicini’s.

The pizza was good, the chocolate fudge cake was awful. Stick to entrees and go to a dessert café afterwards. The service was also slow. Overall, pretty average and probably not worth the 15 min wait. The previous time I tried to eat here, they told me they had run out of pizza dough at 10 pm. What kind of pizza place runs out of pizza dough for chrissake?

Going for an early Tuesday lunch meant that we were seated straight away, though I have seen it get very busy, which is a testament to the fail-safe food served here. The bright, open design of the restaurant is lovely, and gives on to Piccadilly Gardens(which will be great once whatever building work they’re doing there is over). Drooling over the many tasty sounding pizzas they have to offer may take a while, so order some olives to nibble on and keep you going. The food is delicious, and the service very friendly and fairly prompt, and though it did take some time to pay, this was due to the staff having to see to a large party of diners, and the relaxed ambiance meant that staying a little longer wasn’t too much of a problem.
