Travel Joy Hostels is a relaxed and chilled-out hostel which focuses on personal service.

We are the only London hostel overlooking the river. Were extremely centrally located between Chelsea and The Houses of Parliament.

We provide free tea/coffee/soft drinks to residents at all times, free linen/towels, free Wi-Fi in the entire building and free continental breakfast. There are no hidden costs.

Booked this hostel while in the airport and was so happy with my choice. Easy enough to get to (though kind of in a residential area, don’t stay here if you’re looking for a super hoppin’ hood), staff was incredibly sweet/helpful, room was basic but clean (with 2 showers) + we had a great balcony outside our room. The bar downstairs was always lively and we met a ton of great people, would definitely recommend for anyone coming through London.

This place is a really great value. Cheap rooms with so many free things. Happy hour is the best to get drunk for cheap. Plus you meet great people. Definitely recommend whether you’re a first time traveler by yourself or with friends.

As for as hostels go, this place was ok. When we first arrived we had 3 staff members storm in and out of are room with no explanation 2 minutes after us arriving there. I went down stairs to confront them about this and the self attempted overly charming guy behind the bar said that they were there to check the bathroom.
This happened again the day after with the cleaner who once again didn’t knock and made a b-line to our bathroom.
It was wierd!
Also they ran out of pancakes on the New Year morning pancake breakfast which was extremely frustrating. Also would it kill then to clean under the sofa’s downstairs?
But the staff behind the bar were polite and the room was clean and we felt safe staying there.

I feel a little let down by Travel Joy. After my stay of three days and I couldn’t wait to find a better hostel.
the pros:
Bar downstairs, a great place to meet fellow travelers.
Secure hostel, no safety concerns.
Good wifi.
the cons:
Alarm on each dorm’s door that goes off if held for too long or even if turned incorrectly. Makes late nights and early mornings difficult for others.
Incredibly cold dorms.
Dirty and neglected bathrooms and showers.
At least a 20 – 30 minute public transport ride to most of London. The neighborhood surrounding the hostel is quiet and mostly residential.
