We ended up here on a day where getting out of the rain was the first priority and following our noses to nice-smelling food seemed a good option. TooMai has a bit of a strange menu of curries and stir fries and various cuisines mixed together. But the food was tasty, so no complaints there. Nothing amazing, but a nice late lunch on a rainy day. Service was good as well. A solid little spot that I’d try again.

This place serves Indo Chinese food. This food is a unique creature. I don’t know how the Chinese would react to it. It’s the Indian take on Chinese food, something I grew up believing was Chinese food, so I completely love it. There is chili paneer, which is the bomb ! There is also chicken lollipop and their take on the chicken wings which are all pretty awesome. We also tried their stir fry beef, the green curry and Szechuan noodles as well as the fried rice and everything was good. We tried the coconut ice cream for dessert which was ok. They also serve fresh juices, a friend at the table had carrot juice. Our friends live in the neighborhood and know the owner so he sent some new stuff they were trying in the kitchen. This is decently priced and I guess it’s a good place to go try something unique. I don’t necessarily think it’s everyone’s cup of tea though. PS they also have a chili sauce that is the bomb !

Just ordered delivery of four dishes – paneer and tofu pad thai couldn’t have been tougher and more chewy. som thom salad tasteless. My jaws are tired from all that work! One of the worst thai/asian foods I’ve ever had. so only if you are getting paid for it, would you rate it any better.

It’s taken me a while to decide how to rate TooMai. Some of the food is really good(such as the über spicey paneer starter), whilst some of the rest of it is pretty bland/nothing to write home about. They do lots of options, with many dishes coming in a veggie/pork/chicken etc option. Not much gluten free food(which means it’s a pain to go there with my coeliac partner). Their cocktails are pretty yummy though…

This is a new eatery in West Hampstead. A friend and I went past it last week and thought we’d come back yesterday to try it out. I like the dark deco and the feel of the place, but that’s about it. The waiting staff were all smiling when we came in until later they noticed that my friend were handicapped. The whole attitude changed from then on. We were the last one to get served. Had to wait for a very long long time for everything even though the restaurant were not packed. I even noticed that the waiting staff were talking about us amongst themselves which I find quite rude. When we left, they were all turning their back and not saying goodbye. The food were average, but expensive. We had Thai calamari, spring rolls and prawn crackers as a starter. My friend had Pad Thai, which he said were ok, and I ordered fried noodle with prawn but got noodle with chicken instead. And it was really spicy. Overall, not a good experience and definitely won’t be coming back again.

Love their chicken pad krapow. They have a thai lady chef, hence the flavors are authentic and will transport you back to bangkok and phuket fun in da sun days. Can’t get enough of their chilli oil too-those are addictively Yumzy!

Great looking restaurant with an alternative menu. The service is quick and the food tasty. Good if you fancy something different. Only problem, there is 2 similar restaurants in the street… Considering the competition I was surprised by how bad the service was. We were not offered a second drink or asked if we wanted anything else when our plates were taken.

Ordered a takeaway from here last weekend — friendly on the phone and it was ready to pick up in 20 minutes. We went for three starters — chicken satay, chilli lamb and spring rolls. Followed by — chicken pad thai, chicken massaman curry and egg fried rice . Total came to £30, and there was more than enough food for the two of us so we were pretty pleased for £15 each! Chicken satay was lovely, so were the spring rolls — lamb was SPICY. I usually love spice(I used to live in Thailand and Malaysia so can be a bit of a asian food snob) but this was on the bad side of the spicy scale. Mains were delicious, great curry, and we had more than enough food left for a doggy bag each(can’t beat leftovers the next day!) Overall, impressed but would definitely be keen to try a few more dishes, and eating in the restaurant itself.

They have the perfect Pad Thai! And the prices are very reasonable, but it’s really weird that they don’t have desserts…

TooMai presents itself as a «pan Asian street food restaurant,» though I’m not sure I’d go that far. Their starters seem more like street food to me — dumplings, food on a stick, etc — but the rest seems a bit like comfort food with a twist. However, the prices are right on par with street food prices — we had one starter, two mains and one side of rice for £20 including tip — but the food wasn’t worth more than that. £10 each for a beef curry that didn’t have much beef and tasted a bit plain; poorly cooked white rice that didn’t come until after we’d finished the curry(I don’t cook enough rice to know whether sticky and hard means under or overcooked); a chicken noodle dish that was good, but incredibly greasy and unexpectedly spicy(I don’t mind the spice, but I do know people who would have been unable to eat it); and a starter of a few tiny prawn crackers that were only alright. This was actually my second time trying the place, as I’d previously stopped for a takeaway and gotten pad thai. When I got home it was still warm, which was good, but it was incredibly salty. It almost seems as if they put a lot of time and money into the décor and forgot about the food until it was too late. I’m sure there are some good dishes but I haven’t found them yet. But two disappointing experiences mean I’m not likely to return.

First impressions… A very trendy looking restaurant New Well furnished and best of all Cheap… The food is far from mind blowing… and the innovation stops at the view… But tooMai is worth a visit, the street food feel of the place is very cool, you’ll have a fun time but maybe not a yum time… Although my Berry Mojito was very cool and quite tasty. Drink up.
