Lovely, quiet and always friendly. They have board games and include breakfast in the room hire. Try to get a room above ground level, and they’re clean and quiet. After a while you feel like an old friend rather than an anonymous guest. Must try it! Ask the staff for the roomier/quieter rooms.

Another Cricklewood find! On the outskirts of my neighborhood but walkable yes. The Guest House part of the name is correct. You can book a room for I think 45 pounds a night for a single bed room. Big, light, high ceiling’d pub with lots of seating. There’s a cozy looking outside area with those heater ufo stands and a tele. Looks like it’d be a beautiful hidden oasis in my times of ghetto overload here this summer. Came on a Sunday for the roast. My touring American friend’s first! And it did not disappoint. Roast beef with the veggies and the yorkshire pudding and the gravy. ooh twas the gravy that done me in. The waitress was a little awkward and seemed confused that we were asking things from her. But she was nice enough. The low star review is for the tending service. I walked up and ordered a margarita that was on their regular cocktail list(Hey a california girl can dream she can get a good one down the street right?). FIrst bartender I ordered from actually grimaced and sank a little at me. I actually felt bad and said«I don’t have to order that one». He says, «no, I just got off(so he didn’t want to stay there another minute to make a drink for me) «Seriously? The second bartender that came by was his replacement… and I’m assuming apprentice… because he too could not make my drink, but for lack of skills. shudder. oh well, I tried, good to know. SO, when ordering there, stick with the classics… no the basics. And it will all be ok. And for sure go for a tasty roast. BUT not the olive and bread plate. They gave us sliced wheat sandwich bread, to be fair they might have run out of the fancy stuff. So maybe double check with them before you order that.
