Description

Specialties

Mainly we specialise in deliciousness.

The Table Café in Southwark is one of the hidden gems of the South Bank. Shaun Alpine-Crabtree, along with partners from architects practise Allies and Morrison, founded the restaurant seven years ago & has recently overseen its evolution.

A Modern British menu see’s Shaun take fish straight off day boats on the South Coast, meat from small farms around the country and a menu that changes weekly to reflect the ever-changing seasons. A ground-breaking collaboration with homeless charity St Mungo’s now sees The Table take herbs and vegetables on a daily basis, providing both revenue for the charity and an ongoing confidence boost for the workers in the allotments. A two star rating from the Sustainable Restaurant Association is proof of Shaun’s commitment to sustainable and ethical sourcing.

Weekend brunch is both award winning and a local favourite. This summer also see’s the launch of the restaurants new apple tree-lined terrace.

History

Established in 2005.

We are a Modern British restaurant serving fantastic food.

The Table is co-owned by Shaun Alpine-Crabtree and a few partners from the Allies and Morrison Architect practise. When the question of what should be done with their old bike shed came up, it seemed a good idea to transform it into a space that both staff and members of the public could enjoy.

And here we are.

Meet the Business Owner

Shaun C.

Business Owner

Hi I’m the co-owner of The Table, my partners are some of the architects from the architectural practise next door, Allies and Morrison. I’ve been involved with food for over 18 years now, and been here for seven years. My first job was commis chef at L’Odeon on Regents Street under Head Chef Bruno Loubet with his sous chef, Anthony Dimitri.

I’ve travelled the world with my profession and am deeply proud and committed to this wonderful business of food. The Table is in my heart and soul, the very floor boards tell my story. I’d love you to come round and say hi so I can tell you more about our lovely little local restaurant. I can be found here most days of the week, just ask for Shaun.

I can be contacted any time via email too; shaun@thetablecafe.com if you have any comments or queries.
