Mad Hatter Hotel

The interior design is amazing. I love all the Alice in Wonderland theme. It is also attached to a pub with a delicious menu. The rooms are comfortably sized with a nice sized bathroom.
The front receptionist really made us fee welcome with her greeting and answered all our questions. It’s a short walk (10−20mins) to the London Eye and is close to a few places to eat.
Happy with this hotel.

Great location for seeing the sights of London, especially the Borough Market. Lots of complementary stuff in the room and enormous bath towels. Pleasant staff and nice atmosphere. Four stars for the aforementioned. (Considering price point)
Leaving a star off for the mediocre bar and restaurant. Granted, we only had one meal here and didn’t want a repeat. Weak cocktails.

Visiting London have the opportunity to try a Very nice food, rest location and great customer service!!!

Fun atmosphere and good beer! I’d by the Thames River. Interesting choices for appetizers.

Cool place to spend the night. Elegantly decorated and the rooms were spotless and very well appointed. The front desk girl was very courteous and the attached pub served excellent food. The kitchen closes at 9:50PM though, so if you get there late, you might be out of luck. This was my first stop in London and I would definitely stay there again.

This pub has swiftly become my local — I go there regularly — with a large group who are always well looked after, with small groups of friends and with my partner. There is a range of seating styles — booths, sofas and table areas, and a function room so it’s definitely a pub for all occasions.
There is a good variety of places to sit, the bar staff are friendly and the décor is fab. I have allergies and don’t have a problem finding something on the menu I am safe with — plus there is a good selection of beverages. Having stayed here a couple of times, I can speak favourably of the rooms — the tea selection in the rooms are great — and cafetieres in the room are a fun touch.

I come to the pub part of the Mad Hatter twice a month with a large group and they have been great to us. The staff is usually nice and have been very accommodating. It can be quite hard to find a pub that can cater to groups of over 50 people and the Hatter seems just the right fit for us.
The food is quite good, love their BLT and they always have interesting specials! I also quite like their décor, the Alice themed ceiling painting in the back room is fantastic and the hats in glass cases along the wall are a nice touch.
Overall I’d definitely recommend the pub, can’t say anything about the hotel part though as I’ve never stayed there.

Was here for a Boardgame night while in town.
Had a fish and chips. Reasonably sized portions of cod and decent fries. Decent selection of beers. Service was great. A-​OK to the tee.

Noisy 20 year olds, barking dogs and slamming doors. If I weren’t suffering from a severe upper respiratory virus i would move to another hotel (after slowly strangling the incessantly barking chihuahua with a piano string soaked in salt water). Someone shoot me! Two hours ago tried to get soup delivered from room service but alas, I am here in bed eating stale shortbread biscuits

After a breezy walk along Blackfriars Road, popped into the Mad Hatter for a quick pint !
Managed to sit in the leather sofas at the back ! Comfy comfy !

My experience with the Mad Hatter customer service and front desk personnel were very negative. Therefore I like to share my experiences with you.
I decided to book their hotel online to stay while I am travelling London. I live in US therefore booking was done online and the rest of the correspondences were over emails and phone calls. I booked 2 reservations online both were 2 nights stays separated by 4 days in between.
Unfortunately I needed to cancel my trip to London. My flight, United Airlines, understood the situation and helped me to cancel.
However when I try to cancel my reservation with the Mad Hatter, I experienced the following problems:
1. I don’t think the Hotel personnel who answers the phone speaks English well. I am assuming that they are in the front desk and it is England, therefore it was really really suprising for me, because it was really really hard to understand them.
2. Most importantly, the hotel personnel, who answers the phone — again I am assuming that they are the front desk, are not willing to explain to you or listen to you at all. They make you feel like they don’t want to talk to you — and no interest in listening and trying to help you.
3. As I said I booked everything online, through their official website, I called them 2 – 3 times to cancel my reservation, and I was told that I booked through an agency and I should talk to that agency to cancel. I repeatedly told them «no I didn’t book it through an agency, I booked it from your website.» But again because of 1 and 2 above, they were not wiiling to listen.
4. No manager or any responsible person was available to speak. After calling many times to cancel, and being told that I should talk to agency, I was recommended to talk to the manager. And I was told that the manager comes in the morning and I should call by then and talk to her/​him.
5. Anyways 2 days later (and 3 phone calls after) I have received an email from them saying «Unfortunately you didn’t arrive yesterday to our Hotel we still keeping your booking.». Well I called them, I tried everything to inform them but these didn’t change anything.
6. I was told that my reservations are not refundable because the room accommodation’s has been already paid for in advance, therefore I can not have my money back. Cancelling my hotel stay once week ahead of time didn’t change anything. Very sad — this costs me $ 900 for for four days.
I have not stayed in this hotel at all. Therefore I won’t be able to comment about the quality of the hotel. However, the quality of customer service, front desk and efforts to make a customer happy (especially when they are in need) says a lot about the quality of the hotel.
According to my experience, Mad Hatter was severaly lacking in customer service and was inflexible when dealing with my cancellation.

Now, one might think I put that quote above because I disliked this place. Nothing could be further from the truth, this place was delightful. Mad, but delightful.
In my search to meet new people in a strange city I’m now calling my home, I found a group of geeks who meet twice a month to drink and chat, and geeks they were! Love movies, books, comics, Joss Whedon, Star Wars, Spiderman, Dr. Who, Neil Gaiman? We chatted about them all, and it was grand.
They’re meeting space is here, The Mad Hatter, which I found delightful. It’s a combination hotel and bar and we stayed in the beautiful bar section in a private area in the back. There were plenty of chairs and tables and even a nice large TV that had on the Olympics.
The Mad Hatter theme is there but not everywhere. It basically looks like your normal pub with wooden bars, leather couches and so on. Every once and a while there’s a nice touch, like the «Alice in Wonderland» mural on the ceiling in the private area. That was fantastic.
Beer is reasonably priced and the staff is friendly. I didn’t try any of the food but the sandwiches were big and looked delicious.
The loo is a little annoying to find. You have to go out of the bar and into the hotel portion and then down some very narrow stairs into a very narrow bathroom. Fine when you’re running in, not so great when you’re half-​buzzed and stairs begin to be a problem. Ah well.
A quaint bar with a great atmosphere to meet with friends … or, perhaps, serve one hell of a tea party.

Functional pub with a limited drinks selection. Old man in feel, but with some nice hats on the wall. It’s a great place if you want a relaxed drink where you can hear friends talk. However there is nothing outstanding about this place.

A nice Fullers pub that delivers on the things you’d expect to — very good beers and ales (Honey Dew beer is my friend) and decent pub food.
We came here for the office Xmas lunch and I was surprised at the quality of the food given the numbers of meals they were churning out of the kitchen.
Warm and friendly atmosphere to be found in here, although if I didn’t work around the corner I wouldn’t bother trekking to find this pub. There isn’t too much else in the area.

Looking for a Sunday pub in the no-​mans Land that can be Waterloo? You’ve just found it! Seriously, this hotel slash bar slash pub slash resturant is everything you need but nothing you really want.
Good value, clean rooms, standard service and a huge pub on the ground for. I still can’t figure out why you’d stay here though. I mean yes it’s Waterloo but it;s a bit of a strange area with no real feel for the city.
So anyway, from a locals perspective it’s all right, but that’s about it. Just all right.

I loved this place for a variety of reasons. It wasn’t overly crowded, the clientele was diverse, they had an extensive food menu (I only had a bag of crisps/​chips though), and they tolerated my clumsiness (I’ll get to that in a minute).
Best of all the Mad Hatter is a fun place. It appears to be a Fuller’s marketing test pub which is attached to it’s namesake hotel. This is a perfect place for a theme party, in fact the night we were there we saw a large group of folks all wearing crazy hats. The pub is adorned with beautiful millinery in glass cases.
I washed down my crisps with a few HoneyDews, which is now my new favorite beer. It tastes just like its name; a little sweet with a very light crisp taste. After drinking heavy ales during my trip this was a refreshing change.
And my embarrassing clumsiness in spilling a pint by shattering a glass would have been a tragically uncool scene in L.A., but at the Mad Hatter my gaffe was discreetly cleaned up by a bartender, and the beer continued to flow. The Mad Hatter knows how to throw a proper Tea Party. Cheers!

Came here with friends after the New Years Eve firework display at the London Eye. Since we were pretty well pissed already I can’t tell you how far the walk from the Eye actually is. I can say that along the route people tried to steal our party hats, I got 2 swigs of whiskey from some random guy that wanted to try on my hat, and I didn’t trip on my 5 inch heels. Not bad for a drunk tourist if i do say so myself!
Now I got pretty excited when I noticed The Mad Hatter (Alice in Wonderland holds a special place in this drunk’s heart!). We decided to venture in since it was open & we were getting pretty parched in the drinking department.
I don’t remember all that much, didn’t even know it was a hotel until the next morning when Najah Y. looked at a receipt and it has the words «hotel» written on the front. All I do know is I had a fun-​tastic fucking good time. Drinks weren’t that bad, 24 pounds for 7 shots of vodka. The shot sizes are a little smaller than what we find in America, but not a big deal over all. Details are definitely on the fuzzier side of things, but hey, good times are good times!
Cute atmosphere, cute name, & fun times. Will be back next trip to LDN town, might even stay in the hotel if the price is right.

I love that occasional feeling I get in London, when I wander into a pub and realize that I was there years agoback when any pub would do as long it was open. It is almost like opening an old entry to your diary (if you wrote one) remembering who you were with and the events of the evening.
I’m not sure how much this has changed since then, I don’t remember it being part of a hotel back thenbut then I rarely paid any attention. This is the second Fullers hotel bar I have encountered and is definitely the better of the two as it has retained some charm of some sort (and I’m not just talking about the unbelievably attractive barmaid who served us). The complete Fuller’s range (as I know it) was available, including their IPA which I had not come across before.

Looking for an affordable and decent place to stay in London is quite a task. Desperate, I asked a friend for tips. The Londoner came up with The Mad Hatter… a traditional British Pub serving Fuller’s beer, which also happened to have a hotel on the upper floors.
Beer and a place to stay all wrapped up in one is a perfect fit for my husband and I so we went on line, found a special for 100 pounds a night and away we went.
The Mad Hatter turned out to be a great location within walking distance to the Tate Modern art museum, Shakespeare’s Globe and the London Eye. It’s situated on the not-​as popular south bank of the Thames… but we enjoyed the location and was able to walk to a cool gastropub for dinner and had lunch at the nearby Borough Market.
The pub downstairs may close at 11:30 pm… but BONUS: the hotel front desk person will pour hotel guests a pint (I personally enjoyed the Honey Dew) after hours if you ask kindly!!!
Another bonus: our package also included an English breakfast every morning downstairs.
The Mad Hatter seems to be off the radar of many … but it’s a wonderful place to sleep, eat, and enjoy a pint (not in that particular order).

We popped into the Mad Hatter (pub) for an impromptu pub lunch and had a thoroughly good time.
The selection of ales/​beers was good and the price of drinks were reasonable (for central London).
There is an extensive menu which includes all the traditional pub fair, some good English classics (like faggots) and the ubiquitous inclusion of European meals.
All the food arrived piping hot, well cooked and well presented.
Traditional elements such as the chips with my cod were hand cut and tasted lovely.
We all had different dishes and each of us cleaned our plates!
The pub was very busy by the time we left so I can imagine it’s quite a hub during Friday lunch time.
The bar itelf did seem very busy and there appeared to be more people standing than sitting (even though there are plenty of tables).
Mad Hatters is a large, bright and airy pub with all the traditional touches (without looking out of date)
