The Forest Hill Tavern

I don’t want to be overly picky as the first person to review this place. It looks okay from the outside, the bar itself is quite nicely done, but it suffers from being a bit of a ‘footy pub’!
Yes yes, I know, shock horror a pub that shows footy, how dare it. I’m not saying I want some posh overpriced place but I think there’s a balance.
A friend had booked a table for a Sunday roast, but of course, Sunday afternoon is also footy time, and this clearly was the most important thing. The whole of the front bar seems to face onto the telly. It was full of blokey blokes and their dolly birds, and our table was plonked right at the front next to the telly! Agggh, thanks bar people for giving us that table. All the other tables were occupied, and we didn’t fancy outside, so we were stuck. I don’t think we were the most popular people when we proceeded to chat all the way through the game, and to give you an idea, our neighbouring table was a couple of blokes with a bottle of wine each for company!
The food itself was okay, not too badly priced, though one of our friends left her meat as she felt it was too rare (quite unusual I thought considering we were eating well into the afternoon). The beers were mainly lager — the only bitters were both pale ales, one of which Greene King.
Anyway, only been that once, and not a great fan. Hopefully someone else will stick up for it. Is it the same for the rest of the week?
