The food was great but the reason I give this place 5 stars is because of the service and wait staff. They are so welcoming and accommodating. We had a 16 month old in our party and honestly they were so patient with us and is was greatly appreciated. We were walking by the restaurant the next night and the waiter spotted us on the street, played with the baby and was genuinely asking us to come back despite the craziness from the night before! And again, the food was excellent! Would definitely go back and recommend to anyone

Dropped in for lunch after visiting the Courtauld Gallery and had the fixed menu. Generous portions, a starter and a main dish both very good, and a fair price for London. It was busy, obviously a popular place, so don’t go expecting super fast service. A good choice if you’re inn that area.

Well I’m officially off of food from Thai Square. I gave it another chance after my previous visit(at a different branch) two weeks ago; yet again I was highly disappointed. Picked up the menu to find sticky sauce all over it. The starter was ok(golden Sacks), but the main was awful. I had the drunken noodles and the beef definitely needed at least another 5 minutes of cooking time(it tasted vile and raw). The veg was undercooked(I mean there’s al dente and there’s just plain raw! And these beans were most certainly raw!). My mum had the beef with chilli and basil(which was basically the same raw tasting beef as my dish but without the noodles). She too was not impressed. As for the«egg fried rice»… It more like boiled rice with a bit of egg thrown in — no flavour whatsoever. Highly disappointed with Thai Square and won’t be dining there again. Will be on the hunt for a genuine Thai place(maybe one that isn’t a chain).

Great Thai Food. They do have an lunch set menu that is worth its price. The service was ok and the food was nice.

Ordered takeaway Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mau here for lunch. Blegh. Greasy and not much taste. There’s really not much else to be said. If you’re here and want thai food, just take an extra 5 – 10 minutes to go to Thiwanya behind Holborn Station. You won’t regret it.

I always come here for the tom kha gai(chicken soup with coconut milk) and sticky rice, pretty affordable at £7.50-ish. It’s nothing fancy, just good food, fuss-free. I kind of hate chain places but didn’t even realize this was one until my third visit. And always a plus, at least the staff seemed Thai!

Had the mixed vegetarian starter & a thai curry with rice as main. Enjoyed everything. Shared a bottle of wine. Staff very friendly. Was very busy, but service was quick, which suited me as I was going to the theatre. Happened upon it by chance, but would return.

Totally decent thai. Not fabulous. Not bad. Not expensive. Not cheap… Nor, really, much to say. It’s a central location and close to King’s/Strand. And they’re nice.

I’ve only gotten take-away from here, but so far so good. I have bought from them several times, especially since they are close to King’s College London’s Strand campus. The food can be very spicy, but their non-spicy food is fairly good. The staff are friendly, as well. Also, my Thai friend says that their green curry is the best, and thoroughly recommends it. It’s good if you like really spicy food.

Sad, for a restaurant that has been rated #1 by the Thai gov, you would think it would be more up to par. It was mediocre at best. I would have gone with 3 stars had they stiffed me and brought me out a bottle of still water instead of tap. He cracker open the bottle before I knew what was happeninng. The lunch special for £9.85 was not bad, but the chicken satay sauce was lacking in peanuty awesomeness, and the chicken itself was still a little hairy, like someone in need of a serious plucking, and the over all flavor of the pad thai was Thai, but again, the missing peanuts, as well as a little too much sauce.

This place was solid. I had a lunch special(£8.25 I think). I got a nice little pile of beef salad in a super tangy lime dressing, which was delicious and a reasonable sized plate of pad see ew, which wasn’t all beansprout filler like at some places! Not a destination dining experience, but I would certainly go back since it is conveniently located for me. Tiny, but really cute little place.

Nothing special. This chain restaurant has quite smart décor(if a teensy bit seventies hotel) and perfectly alright food on a stretch of the Strand where there’s not much beyond sandwiches and pasties on sale at lunchtime, and only a couple of pubs at night. If you are in the area and fancy Thai food, go for it. If you’re in the area and can be persuaded to have Indian food instead, go next door:

I’m a sucker for Thai food and this place is rather reasonably priced for its location. I had the Drunken Duck dish with coconut rice and tasted some green curry from the boyfriend’s mains. Green curries in London never seems to live up to my expectations and Thailand experiences so I’ll set that aside but the Drunken Duck was dashing. It was a long meal with a large group and the staff was quite patient and quick — they even settled up the bill twice for the sake of a batch of people leaving earlier than others. It’s a quirkily designed and noisy place good for groups rather than quiet intimate dinners. The portion sizes are good and the menu has sufficient variety to cater to varied tastes. In the opinion of my spice-weathered palate, some of the dishes could do with being hotter but that doesn’t take away from the fact that the food’s tasty. The desserts menu at this place is extensive and varied. The presentations of various ice-creams in their natural look is quite delightful, for instance, the coconut ice-cream in a coconut shell and the pineapple icecream in a scooped out pineapple. Mind that the coconut ice-cream is quite rich and can only be had if shared across three and the pineapple icecream comes in a hearty portion and is best shared between two. For those who desist from sharing, go for the coffee dessert which comes in a single person serving. Why the four stars, you ask? Good value for money.

I stumbled out of the Chesire Cheese and really, really needed some food. I was led here by a member of the party. A Victorian-looking opening leads to a modern, clean interior with a relaxed feel. It’s quirky and it works. The food was very tasty and the service was great. They were patient, efficient and served us with a smile. My Pad Thai looked a little on the small side when it arrived, but I left feeling full, so the portions were just right. The bill was very reasonable, certainly for the part of town(I think it came to about £15 per head but I might be wrong!). Definitely a good option if you’re in that part of town and don’t want fast food or pub grub.

Thai Square is a nice convenient restaurant that is part of a popular chain, their curries are nice although can be a bit oily so you’d be better off choosing one of the rice or noodle options. There is a lunchtime special for under £10 which is reasonable. The toilets are clean but basic and you need to go down some steep stairs to reach them.
