Finding somewhere in Shoreditch that does unpretentious cheap food for lunch is harder than you’d expect so this place is a gem. Nothing more than a choice of 3 veg and meat curries from their selection of 12 on top of white, brown or pilau rice, all served with a popadom to takeout for £3(veg) or £3.50(meat) you can’t ask more than that! The menu changes daily but the Tandori chicken is great.

Let me just copy and paste my review of the other Shoreditch Plus to start with: «Shoreditch Plus is an amazing takeaway curry service being run out of an off licence/newsagents on Great Eastern St [LIES in relation to this branch, see below]. £3 gets you rice and a choice of 3 vegetable curries, £3.50 gets you meat curries. They also do some tasty lamb samosas for 50p and something which I didn’t try but which looked amazing — giant deep fried green chili stuffed with potato. The mint raiti dip tastes as lurid as it looks, but in a good way(in my opinion). The portions are pretty substantial and definitely good value especially considering most other places in the area start at £5. I tried paneer, daal and aloo gobi and found them all to be not just a decent standard but actually pretty damn tasty. Staff are super nice and as it’s essentially a production line you don’t have to wait too long for your food. In short: the ideal lunchtime curry.» Basically just as good here on Rivington Street except it’s not quite such a production line, as it’s actually a sit down restaurant with an unusual and quite nice kind of wooden cladding around the front. BEWARE some of the options are a bit hidden on the right side of the counter — I didn’t see these and missed out on some delicious vegetable curry options. Don’t suffer through those same regrets! There a wild rumours of poppadoms being available here too(for free?!) but I have yet to substantiate these tales. There’s a lot at play during your average Shoreditch lunchtime. Anyway great to have this second location, just in case the first runs out of samosas. CRISISAVERTED.
