I’ve been to Saf’s a few times and mostly I’ve had a pretty good experience. The owner, I assume, is an older gentlemen. He is great and did a fantastic job on my hair. His son though, I think his name is Elliot(?), was rather rude and borderline abusive to me during my last experience. If he had given me a decent haircut I probably could have looked past that, but alas, I left looking like my head had been ravaged by a badger. Avoid the son at all costs.

Great traditional barbers. £10 to get your haircut with fast and friendly service. Recommended.

I wouldn’t call myself an expert in getting a shave, but I’ve been to a fair amount of barbers now and my visit here was one of the fastest, most professional and best. My barber was what seemed to be like the shop owner(the man with the prominent mustache) and he really had the routine down, as every move seems to have been performed thousands of time. Needless to say, but I felt in very safe hands. The shop interior itself seems to have been the same since forever, which added to the above-mentioned experience. Furthermore, I liked that the customers were composed of all different kinds of people: older Turkish gentleman, men who seem to have just a come back from a day at work in the City, Yuppies and I even spotted a Hipster! The quality of the shave aside, there is one remark that I would like to make: the towel they used for the hot towel shave wasn’t as fresh as it should be.

This is the kind of place that I would incorporate into my daily routine. I would really like to go down and chat to the barber while he gives me an ultra clean shave. Unfortunately I don’t really have the time, and I also assume that getting a shave at the barber isn’t as cheap as it used to be. Anyway, I think you get the point. It is a real barber, just like you see in old movies. What I really like about it is the fact that the walls are covered in all sorts of old blades. It really shows that they have a genuine passion for what they do. The other really amazing thing is the classic red and white pole that spins outside the shop. Amazing. If you want a haircut or shave in true barber style, I suggest you head down to Saf’s.
