Amazing venue! Went to see Cirque Du Soliel, and sat front row on the floor seats, the sound, the echoing, the staff are all amazing. It is such a beautiful venue, the architecture is magnificent, you feel like a star sitting inside!

Wow just wow!!! I was lucky enough to get tickets to see Kylie at Christmas. Me and my friend got dressed up for the occasion and I’m so glad that I did as it added to the whole experience. It feels so lush and classy. And the Christmas theme defo added to it. We had tickets on the flat and we were at the back, we had a great view until Kylie came in and everyone stood up. But to be fair you can’t sit down at a Kylie concert. During the second half I stood on my chair and could see prefectly. Bit naughty but so worth it. The building is spectacular and the found quality even more so. If you ever get a chance go, I go to a lot of gigs but this was one I’ll always remember and that’s more to do with the venue. There are also some lovely bars inside but be prepared as its pretty pricey.

This place is huge! and Majestic and just so exciting! I was lucky to be able to go to two BBC Proms this season, once sitting behind the orchestra and once sitting out in front of them. Both times the music was great, the seats were comfortable(although the seats out in front all seemed to swivel except for mine). It was great sitting behind the orchestra as you got to see the conductor close up and I always love watching a passionate conductor get his groove on where as sitting out front you got more of a scope for how big the theatre actually is. Would definitely recommend people go here at least once!

The half day we spent at The Royal Albert Hall(RAH) was one of the highlights of our short 4 day stay in London. We came here on a Sunday morning to attend a Classical Coffee Morning performance by a violinist and a pianist from the Royal College of Music at RAH’s Elgar Room. The pianist played on a striking piano, Elton John’s BIGRED grand piano, which is a hand built Yamaha piano and the only one of its kind in the UK. For £11 each, we watched and listened to a wonderful performance, and had a cup of coffee and a pastry. The coffee and pastry were included in the price for the performance. After the performance was over, we joined a tour of the Hall. We prepaid £24 online for 2 people. This was a great tour, despite the fact that you are not allowed to take photographs during the tour. Our guide was very smart and funny. He explained the history of the RAH, told us how much it would cost to rent the Hall, had us sit next the Queen’s box and showed us her receiving room, and told us interesting tidbits about the Queen and other famous people who’ve graced the Hall. We also had a cocktail at Verdi, RAH’s full service restaurant, after the tour. It’s a beautiful restaurant with a view of the Royal College of Music and the plaza behind the Hall. I had a nice gin cocktail and the hubby had a glass of wine while waiting for their afternoon tea service to start. I have been to many places for Afternoon Tea and I find the Afternoon Tea service here to be one of the best I’ve had. The sweet and savory items we had were all delicious!!! They’re all made in house and had a music theme. None of the sandwiches were dry and all the confections were pretty amazing. My favorites were the egg crêpe and cucumber sandwiches. The scones were very good too, not dry as they often are. And the price was very reasonable – £23 pp! The Ritz’s tea starts at 2.5 times what it cost at RAH and it can’t be any better than RAH’s. So, If you have time, have tea here and then take a stroll across the street at Kensington Gardens. The eponymous RAH was opened by Queen Victoria in 1871, a vision of her late husband, Prince Albert, and you can see an ornate monument commemorating her much beloved husband across from the hall. I hope I get a chance to attend a concert here next time we’re in London. Such a beautiful place to see a concert!

The Royal Albert Hall is named after Albert Einstein, who came up with the theory of relatives here inside this beautiful ornate dome. His theory of relatives holds true to this day. You will always fight with your in-laws. You will always play favourites with your kids. You will always have drama with your family. No wonder the guy was such a genius… his theory of relatives is so spot on. My personal experience here is the same as everyone else’s that lives in England… who hasn’t seen a concert here? It’s the go-to place for fancy shin-digs of the musical variety. I’ve been lucky enough to be inside on three occasions and it’s as magnificent on the inside as it is from the outside — if not moreso. Make sure you see a concert here at some point in your life, if you’re a fan of grandeur and old beauty and phenomenal acoustics. It’s a beautiful concert hall made famous recently by Robbie Williams performing some old standards in it, but it’s been one of the highlights of Kensington for a long time, and is well worth a visit. It’s beautiful inside, beautiful outside, and one of the places that someday I would love to sing. One of the best«underrated» tourist attractions of London.

A very majestic venue. It’s like my second home and I think ‘Here again” when I’ve won yet another pair of tickets. A great location, in an area of London I love, and one can stroll through Hyde Park in the summer months on the way. The first time I visited it was so funny. I won a box with 13 seats for the opera(can’t remember the name). I’d just come back from a holiday to Norway and had nobody to go with. I had the box literally staring straight ahead at the stage with a crate of 6 bottles of Champagne that I lugged home on the Tube. I’ve won 2 pairs of tickets to 2 different Cathcart Spring Proms, Carmen, West Side Story on film with a live orchestra, Shostakovich concert and my favourite a charity bash with Alice Cooper himself and celebrities dining on the tables in the middle(although we were in the stalls!). Richard and I have also paid to see ‘Romeo & Juliet’ at The RAH. Opulent, majestic, love it and the corridors that surround the venue with various bars. The annex that was added in 2002 for the Queen’s Jubilee is very tasteful and quite literally in keeping with the building. ‘We are amused’!

The Royal Albert Hall is a stunning venue. I was lucky to see Kooza, one of the Cirque du Soleil stable during its recent run in February 2015. There is an interesting mix of old architecture and new touches such as the discs on the ceiling to improve the acoustics. I watched from the comfort of a box on the lower level which provided an uninterrupted view of the stage. We were served food during interval which was a bit of a squeeze as corporate hospitality wasn’t in the Victorian mindset when the place was built. Kooza was a great show, especially watching the super humans of Cirque du Soleil perform, although I had an urge to Google their accidents when I got home. I would definitely recommend seeing something at the Albert Hall, the history of the place adds to the experience. Next time I go I will be more than happy to pay out of my own pocket.

I’ve been lucky to work in production at this hall for three concerts over three years, and it’s one of my favorite venues. Just the entrance and surrounding grounds are impressive enough to call you inside. The view of the Royal Albert statue in Kensington gardens is striking and grand. The lobby(and every area) is kept perfectly clean. It’s very obvious the in-house staff cares about this historic hall and works hard to maintain it. The merchandising team is amazing and work harder than any merch team I’ve seen. Their set up is professional and they know how to sell quickly so every guest in line gets what they need. Huge photographs and paintings of past performances and shows bring you back 100 years in London’s history. They have a cute café, which is perfect for the huge amount of tour groups that pass through this hall. The backstage area is massive, which can be intimidating, but it’s nice to have a full green room, orchestra rooms, and lots of dressing rooms. Even their show catering is pretty good, and the cooks are really nice. Most people working here seem very cheerful, overall. Their VIP/event room has a cool art deco atmosphere, including a full bar. The house itself is gorgeous. The first time I walked in to the empty house, I was stunned. It’s a giant oval shape with the stage at the top point. The red plush fabric makes it all feel royal, and even the ceiling is pretty. If you’re in the Kensington Gardens, come by to walk around this hall or take a tour. And if there’s an interesting concert, you have to buy your tickets early!

A venue with genuine charm and class. My favorite live Clapton album was recorded here, so while we were not in town for a Clapton concert, just being there was super cool. We did not intend to see a show; we walked in to take the tour. Once we saw there were tix available for that evening’s Proms performance, & surprisingly reasonably priced, we skipped the tour, spent the afternoon elsewhere in London, and came back for the show. Glad we did. It’s a special place.

The RAH is one of my favourite places in the whole of London, if not comparatively to other cities in the World for this type of venue. The entire place is steeped in history and has that air of excitement no matter what you go there for. I go probably every 2 months to watch the most random and different things. From tragic opera to Christmas Carol sing-a-long events. The fact that they have such reasonable prices for tickets means anyone can enjoy and attend an event. Just last week I was there enjoying the classical spectacular @ £15 a head. It’s never a let down, the staff there are super helpful, polite and knowledgable and always happy to assist where needed. I adore this place an urge anyone, even if you think it’s all a bit too much«Culture-Vulture» to go and experience it. LOVELOVELOVE.

I love the Royal Albert Hall. I went to my first ever concert here — The Black Crowes(I’m still a little bit in love with Chris Robinson), I’ve seen many a Prom here, and last week the husband and I accidentally saw Andrea Bocelli for free there. Good times. The interior is beautiful, so even if you made a bad choice on which concert to attend, or you got yourself a cheap seat with barely any view of the stage, you still have something pretty to look at all around you. lf you combine the Metropolitan Opera, the New York City Ballet, Madison Square Garden, the U.S. Open stadiums and Mann’s Chinese Theatre, it would be Royal Albert Hall. Some 140 years ago Prince Albert(Queen Victoria’s husband) wanted to provide culture to the impoverished masses and today they have ballets, tennis matches, classical concerts, Cirque Du Soliel performances and concerts by popular musical artists. The guide stressed the fact that Prince Albert wanted everyone, regardless of how much they had, to have access to the same amount of culture. Resultantly, ticket prices for this venue remain relatively low. My mother and I got a free tour to this Hall through the London Pass(I know, I know but I pushed the old lady hard and used the Pass to see 15 different venues in three days). We went here this past August so we showed up in just at the tail end of the Proms, a summer long classical music celebration with tickets starting at just $ 10 American. In addition to an interesting, Transylvanian sounding tour guide, we also got to sit in the balcony for 15 minutes and listen to one of the best classical orchestras in South Korean tear the goddamn roof off. We saw the Queen’s Box and her associated lounge which was beautiful, pastel and a bit stuffy. However, I’m not a Queen and have no interior design experience to speak of, so she wins. The building itself is an architectural marvel, although the tour guide brazenly told us that the roof is not attached(or glued or nailed or sewn) to it but that the weight of the dome is the only thing that holds it in place. In 140 years a strong wind has never come to knock it off so I felt pretty safe going up and down the steps, in and around the seats. Although the seats were old and well worn, it just added to the history of the place. Next time I am in London, I am definitely returning.

Unfortunately we only came here for a tour and not a performance. Our tour guide was a hoot and honestly, sounded half baked. We were able to see the Queen’s waiting room and her entrance area and were advised of her ‘secret’ entrance, which I reckon, isn’t so secret. This is a magnificent building and has a fantastic history attached to it. We stopped for lunch in the café afterwards and shared a Ham and Swiss Emmental Cheese with Mustard Mayo sandwich and a Chicken and Bacon with Tarragon Butter sandwich. Both were delicious however, something must have been off in one(or both) as neither my husband nor I were well later in the afternoon. Definitely worth the tour but I don’t know if I’d eat there again.

I’ve seen more classical performances in Royal Albert Hall than any other music venues, and it’s not even slightly close to my home. Why? They constantly have such great performances that keeps luring me back! Either it’s for a 2 hour symphony or a small quartet over Sunday morning coffee, Royal Albert Hall is my must visit place whenever I go to London. Location: The closest tube stop is South Kensington, which is still about 7 – 10 minute walk after you exit from the tunnel(which could take another 7 minutes from the actual tube station). I have also managed to get there from Gloucester Rd station within 10 minutes(which I don’t recommend because it involves a lot of running and sweating). So plan ahead and arrive early. If you are not a last minute person like me, this could be quite a pleasant walk. Since South Kensington is the museum district, you get to see all the interesting posters of all ongoing or upcoming exhibitions across the city(in the tunnel). Once you go out of the tunnel, you get to walk on the beautiful and spacious Exhibition road. Architecture: The building itself is very spectacular. Built during Victoria era and has been renovated many times since. I especially like the comprehensive lighting design they have over the ceiling, even the acoustic diffusing discs are very decorative. Events: Even though Royal Albert Hall may seem to be a venue for classical music, it actually hosts a great variety of other events such as ballet, opera, ceremonies, circus, rock concert and even tennis matches. Shows I’ve seen: — Classical Coffee Mornings This may be my favourite thing on Sunday mornings. Every Sunday at 10 am there’s a small concert hosted in the airy Elgar room, could be a piano recital, or soprano singing, guitar solo, French horn solo or Clarinet. For £10 only you can enjoy world class music in a intimate atmosphere with some coffee and pastry. Surely the coffee and pastry are a bit below par but people don’t really come here for those do they? The first concert I went to was a trio of piano, violin and cello played by award winning students from Royal Academy of Music(conveniently located just across the street). The size of this room was perfect for this performance and everyone loved it. A fun fact: the red baby grand piano in this room was donated by Elton John(he played it during one of his world tours). — Best of Broadway(with royal philanthropic orchestra) Lots of singing and dancing. The crowd may seem a few decades above my age but how can it not be fun when you get to hear favorites from West Side Story and sing along with some Abba? — Classical Spectacular This is a regularly hosted concert(annually or bi-annually) which combines well known classical pieces, world famous soloist, opera singers, comedy interaction with audiences and a great light show all in one. While it may seem a bit flashy for classical enthusiast, it’s great fun to take newbies(like me) or children as an introductory to classical concerts. Even people with little interest in classical music would find this very enjoyable, both acoustically and visually. — Lang Lang’s recital: Mozart and Chopin in-the-round Lang Lang must be very popular in the UK that tickets for this show were sold out months ahead of time. Luckily he is a regular at Royal Albert Hall so you can book your tickets in advance. Although the artist is frequently criticized for being«showy”(and I can see why), he pulled off a great show with some of the most complicated pieces from Chopin with impeccable technique and great passion(he had to wipe off sweat from the piano keys after each piece). With 3 encores I’d say he’s won himself over a huge crowd. — BBC proms: Mahler 2 BBC proms is a 8-week long daily concert event held every summer in Royal Albert Hall since the 40s. It’s called proms because unlike usual classical music concert, there’s more than 1000 standing places available for each concert for a price as low as £5(So consider it a 8 week long classical music festival). Proms stands for Promenade Concerts(apparently when it first started back in late 1800s it was hosted in outdoor gardens, and people can walk around it). It was started as an effort to train public to appreciate classical music with minimum bar to entry. The humble price doesn’t indicate low quality. Quite the opposite, every year world famous orchestras put on more than 70 high class concerts, on top of other pre-show talks and late night Jazz performances, it’s truly a festival for music lovers. During the concert I went to, I was surprised to see how many people actually stood through the full convert(many of them are seniors). I felt ashamed for sheepishly buying regular seating tickets and sitting comfortably in a box, but am still glad that I didn’t have to stand for 2 hour straight…

I have been to many music venues before including small arenas, small theatres, large music halls, the O2 and even stadiums but the Royal Albert Hall is by far the best venue I have seen concerts in. Not only are the acoustics the best due to the venue’s round architecture and resonating ceiling/walls, but you can feel the history as soon as you walk in and walk down the corridors. The Royal Albert Hall also seems to have a wonderful taste in music, inviting renowned artists and ambassadors of music for prestigious events. I was lucky enough to attend a day at the Proms and at the Charity series for Teenage Cancer Trust. Both events were well organised, the music was very well exhibited and gracious long-lasting memories were formed.

The Royal Albert Hall is one of the most stunning buildings I’ve ever been into and it’s the most perfect mix of traditional architecture and modern quirkiness(fibreglass discs on the ceiling to improve the acoustics, I’m looking at you here). We were lucky enough to get row 6 seats for Russell Howard’s Wonderbox tour and the view was INCREDIBLE. For the first time ever, I could actually see facial expressions and eyes. Eyes! Actual real no foolin’ eyes, that’s how close we were! I know the Royal Albert had a reputation for having terrible acoustics in the past but they’ve definitely fixed that because we could hear every word. Couldn’t have asked for better seats. You can tell the place is old and steeped in history too. Yes, the seats themselves feel a bit rickety and thin due to age, but looking around, you can see all the architectural details and it has that kind of musty smell. It all just adds to the atmosphere. On a more practical level, all the doors are clearly signposted, there are plenty of announcements during the intervals to make sure you know how long you’ve got and the walkways inside the main arena are huge, allowing plenty of room for the amount of people using them. No queuing to get in and out here. If I were going to give one bit of advice though, it’d be to have dinner before and fill up so you aren’t tempted to buy the extortionate ice creams and chocolates, and to head to a bar after to avoid the bar. They definitely mark up. A LOT. Above all else, a visit to the Royal Albert Hall is more than the show you’ve paid to see. It’s the history of the building and the atmosphere it creates too, and that makes the money worth it, 100%.
