History

Established in 1954.

The Troubadour was started by Michael and Sheila Van Bloemen who created an unique and vibrant business with the original Troubadour Club in the basement. Bruce Rogerson took over the helm from 1972 to 1998 and retained the atmosphere, decoration and traditions.

Simon & Susie Thornhill increased it in size, taking over the fish and chip shop next door for a larger café and club and turning Encounter Overland on the other side into an award winning Wine Shop and Bar.

The legendary Troubadour Club in the basement hosted such great musicians as Bob Dylan and Paul Simon in the 60s and more recently Adele, Jesse J, Laura Marling and Jamie T. Live music gigs take place at least 5 nights a week — you may see the stars of tomorrow playing here today!
