I’ve eaten at many branches of this franchise and they are all pretty much the same. Normally I would give four stars for Pizza Express as I do enjoy them, but there are a few points that should be made about this one which detracted one star The children. Woah, the children… It’s the area this branch is located and the store is very kid friendly. This can be great for you if you have kids, if you don’t, then be aware that at some times of the day this store will look like a day care and you should be prepared for that. At other times it’s fine. So, just a heads up on that one. I’ve taken off one star as I nearly feel over a child that was let loose and whilst I appreciate that a child friendly place is a good thing, it could be reined in a bit.

The food here was fine. The atmosphere, not so much. My husband and I make the mistake of having a Saturday lunch here. The place was almost like a daycare center. Children were running around and screaming every way I turned. I thought I could handle it for the duration of a meal, but I left feeling so rattled that I don’t know if I could ever have a child of my own. This location is probably best avoided during lunch unless you are taking a child or have the patience of a saint(like the staff must do). I imagine a little later in afternoon and evenings is a bit better. Again, the food was actually quite good, so definitely worth a visit for that.

As much as I’m a fan of Pizza Express and their reliable quality, the Chiswick branch is a bit of a let down. The staff seem easily panicked when the place gets more than half full, which it is regularly, and its not too unusual to see people complaining about wrong or incomplete orders. Sitting at the low ceilinged rear of the place, I’ve often witnessed staff using a table to do admin paperwork when the place is very busy, and kitchen staff standing around having a natter, which is far from impressive for a chain that sets comparatively high standards.

Difficult to review as this branch of Pizza Express is much like any other: you pretty much know what you’re going to get. The fairly new ‘Theo Randall’ pizzas are rather good(very thin pizza base with ingredients generally placed on top of the pizza after, rather than before, cooking) although much more expensive than the others for no particular reason. This branch gives decent service on the occasions I’ve been there, but is always packed with families and(generally well-behaved) children at the weekend. I’m pretty sure it also does children’s parties, so beware if you don’t like the noise of children!

Took up on a buy one get one free offer, Pizza tasted great, only disappointed as pizza bases too burnt so had to ‘saw’ our way through. Also seating very cramped and we were placed quite near the door next to a big queue of clients waiting for tables so doesn’t offer much privacy. Staff very friendly and professional. nice ambience and décor fine.

This is one of the smallest Pizza Express restaurants I’ve been to and I agree with the reviewers who say it feels a bit claustraphobic. Although once the food is in front of you it is exactly as per the rest of the chain and you forget the tiny space. Have eaten here a million times during a decade working in Chiswick and never been disappointed. The pizzas are great, the service is speedy and the staff friendly and efficient. Handly positioned on the High Road although parking can be tricky — there is more parking on the opposite side of the road in front of All Bar One.

This restaurant has just had a makeover. And it looks exactly the same. But that aside, Britain’s favourite fast food franchise(it’s always voted the top of the chains in foodie rags up and down the land) can’t really do wrong. When you offer a standard of food that is so high in every single restaurant you own, it’s the food equivalent of bumping into an old friend on every high street you walk down. The Chiswick branch loses a star purely because it is the unfortunate victim of Chiswick architecture — only the houses are opulent, never the trade spaces — and thus lacks the character of, say, the Richmond or East Sheen restaurants. But then, I don’t really see the people of Chiswick using this as a romantic alternative to McDonalds(although, to its credit, it still ticks the boxes). And with so many buy one get one free deals littering the papers and the internet, it makes for a great cheap lunch. What would you rather, a Four Seasons pizza or the Boots meal deal?

Another pizza express, but the staff here have always been great. Food is same as any other branch, but at least you know what to expect. havent ever had a bad experience at a pizza express!

I do like Pizza Express, you know what to expect, and so it’s often a reliable choice. This establishment is no different. Although I think it’s too small and the seating feels a bit cramped. In the summer it’s stifingly hot inside, although the option to sit outside it there. I love the dough balls and the pizzas, always extra artichokes for me as they are delicious!
