I had the pleasure of stopping in at Nonnas for deli meat, cheese and great service. We finished eating at York and Albany(also a fabulous experience) and the staff here greeted us with a huge smile and pleasant short conversation.

This deli is attached to one of Gordon Ramsey’s restaurants, the York & Albany. The deli has great cakes, deli meats, quiches, ice creeam, cheese, picnic lunches(Regent’s Park is a 2 minute walk away from the deli), pizzas(fresh ingredients — wood-fired pizza oven) and the best coffee in Camden. Forget Starbucks, Costa, et al. Go to Nonna’s! Same price — much better coffee! Really friendly staff as well..

The food was adequate, but portions were tiny: Quail Ravioli was 1 pasta parcel and a piece of quali about 2 cm long. There were a few tiny bits of veg with the main course. Larger portions would not reduced profits by much. After a 3 course meal costing £60, we had to stop for a kebab afterwards to sate our hunger. It seems one pays extra for Ramsay’s reputation.

This is an authentic little deli adjoining Gordon Ramsay’s York & Albany restaurant at the top of Parkway. Despite its flaws, and the fact that it’s definitely a lunch place rather than a dinner one — the dining area consists of 2⁄3 wooden tables(of the garden furniture variety) and the cutlery is wooden(though they’ll replace it if you ask nicely), I’m a huge fan. An odd kind of place to eat given that people occasionally come in to buy meat and jams from the deli itself, so not really recommended for any remotely formal meal. Most of the staff are also really friendly, though(I assume) the manager from the main restaurant who occasionally works in here is a bit blunt and not particularly welcoming. The food, however, is fantastic, particularly the pizza(about £11 ish for king prawn pizza), which is freshly wood fired, beautifully cooked with good quality ingredients and a nicely charred crust — probably the best I’ve had in London. I’ve tried the chilli(also really nice) and the steak sandwich(tasty, but badly needed a knife which could actually cut, rather than the wooden hacksaw I was given!). Disregard the strange setting and come for the food — you won’t regret it.
