Bit strange this place for a night out… there are better options in the area. You can get on the guestlist pretty easily by going on cluboid. We didn’t stay for long as we found the atmosphere a bit stale and cold. Maybe a good option if you come earlier for a quiet drink, I’m not sure it works for a late night dancing option.

Went here for a work lunch once. The place was relatively quiet, the menu was French/British and the actual place made me think of Buckingham Palace — or at least of what I think it looks like. Service was fine, there is a small terrace overlooking the Cavendish Square. Overall, the restaurant was pleasant but it did not leave an impression on me. I don’t think I’d be bothered to return.

I’ve had some great nights in the past, but a recent trip just smelt of desperation on behalf of the club owners. A friend was promoting a night at No 5, and I got in touch. We talked and I agreed to book a table for a small party of seven. On arrival we were quickly ushered into the front lobby where the lady at the desk calmly requested we all pay £20 each. I told her that we had booked a table, and were planning to drink a few bottles of spirit that night. Normally, if a table is booked, a club will waive the fee at the door. Not on this occasion. I then tried to negotiate a discounted rate for the girls in our group. No such luck! Well, we were there, and nobody wanted their night ruined so we handed over £140. At our table, which was well located upstairs near the middle of the dancefloor, we ordered a bottle of vodka. I forget how much it came to, but it was around the £150 mark. What really stank of desperation was they wanted the money up front and then proceeded to charge us for our mixers! Guys, seriously! After getting the entrance fee off everyone, I then had to chase for the drinks money before we’ve even started our night. And when we’re spending over £100 on a bottle of spirit that only costs £15 in a shop, is it really necessary to charge for jug of Cranberry Juice and a few bottles of tonic? I’m sorry but the whole experience left a bitter after-taste in my mouth. Other than that, the venue is lovely, the music is great, the garden at the back is brilliant for smokers. Downstairs the crowd was a bit sketchy later on, but hey this is London, these things happen!

I knew a photographer who was commissioned to take«party» pics of the scene at No. 5 and post them to the website so I always got into the nightclub that No. 5 turns into for free. But I can tell that if you AREN’Ton a list it’s hell to get in. Being from L.A. I just didn’t play that game and wouldn’t in London. The DJs are excellent and can send you into a trance. Each room in this Georgian mansion-cum-hotel has an entirely different décor and set of music. And in some rooms you can smoke! And a drink and a smoke always go together, no? The clientele? Oh, you know the type. But go with a friend and dance your butt off.

No 5 was a great time on a Saturday night. The club was full, the girls were dressed up to the nines and the music was good. It has a good dance floor in the basement, a more casual bar upstairs and a small patio too.

Within minutes of getting here, I had pretty much decided that I hated No. 5 and member’s only clubs in general. The people at the«front desk» were very rude to my friends. The security guards were all extremely rude. There were loads of attractive women and old balding men. The people were rude and the atmosphere P-R-E-T-E-N-T-I-O-U-S. But then a friend of a friend showed up and just happened to have a table in VIP with bottle service. My night exponentially improved. The music was great and I danced up a storm. A great time was had by all. I’m not sure that I would return again sans free entry and bottle service. But I must admit that despite all of the attitude, I had a good time.

Ive been to a few private parties here and always had a good time but I’m sure the free bar had something to do with it. Then I went on a Saturday night and couldn’t believe how different the place was. It is apparently a members club but maybe there was no restrictions on the admission policy when I went. Upstairs was fine but lacking much atmosphere so we ventured downstairs for a dance. Not sure if the men had all just been released from prison and been denied femal e company for a while but they were like dogs on heat. It took the phrase ‘meat market’ to another level– one guy who was probably about 5ft «5» could not understand why I didn’t want to ‘just friends’ so I was forced to be rude until he understood. The music was good but it got a bit tiring having to keep moving and dodging the advances of the pervy men. Maybe I was just unlucky that night but funnily enough I haven’t returned since. I think I’ll be back when there’s a private party and free bar.

If you want to see something different, this hotel/club is mind-boggling. We were on the guest list for that night, organise that in advanced. Dress up ladies!!! This is one where you can walk the catwalk — heels(+ ballerinas for on your way home). When you enter No. 5 Cavendish Square it reminds you of a normal Hotel. In fact this place does have hotel rooms — not so sure of the guests sleep well, but they might be the ones, which keep the party going to the end. Each floor welcomes you with a different ambiance. We did the full tour through the hotel going from room to room. This place gives you the impression of being in a private house, which gives it an authentic feel. At the ground floor you will find yourself in the ‘standing around’ area, where you talk, have your cocktails and get some fresh air. Either you can take the stairs or the lift. Years ago I remember lighting my cigarette in the lift — no sure if this was kosher. However upstairs you will find another Whisky bar and also a restaurant — not sure if this a member only zone. That night I kept on looking for more rooms and secrets. In the basement you will start swinging your dance leg. The music starts of with RMB but gets into a good mix of electro that night we went. For a bottle of Wodka you will splash out more then a hundred but you get a table in return… and we kept that table until they asked us politely to leave — the lights where on at this stage. Never stay till the end — it spoils the night!
