Recomendadisimo

Great to have one near my house. Classic chain across the uk and even the world(Africa, Australia etc) I always get a chicken wrap. You have to be in the mood for nandos. Just your typical nandos.

I generally do like Nando’s but be wary of when you move away from the quarter chicken meal… I decided to go with the chicken burger with the Portuguese roll. The chicken was good but the roll was so bad, I ended up eating the rest of it atkins style.

If you live in the UK(especially London) or South Africa(where Nandos originates) then you really should already have heard of Nandos. If not, it is a place to get wonderfully simple yet delicious spicy chicken. They do those both things very well: spicy; and chicken. We love to go to Nandos, have a loyalty card, and tend to go every so often. However, I was saddened by my experience at Nandos Wandsworth tonight. First of all, the air con wasn’t working. It was of course the hottest day of 2012, but it was stuffy and sweaty and clearly wasn’t a good start. But we decided, never mind, we’ll have lots of the(unlimited) sodas and frozen yoghurt! However, when we went to fill our glasses, we immediately saw that the soda machine had no carbonation. It was entirely flat and very sweet. They needed to change something, so I went up to the counter with our cokes and showed them that they were bubble-free. I wasn’t just going to be a complainer, but more a neighbourly ‘did you know that?’ sort of thing. They curtly said that they would go look, gave me new glasses and said to try again in a couple of minutes. So we went up again, and still no bubbles. The ice machine also was blocked or something and also not working. So I asked a passing waitress whether they had looked at it, and she said that it had been checked and was working fine. I assured her that it wasn’t fine, and she said she would go check. By the time that we had received — and finished — our food(without drinks) I had had enough. So I went up to the counter to complain. The person serving there was clearly the manager/supervisor, so I was pleased that I was probably speaking to the right person. I was however, very wrong. Her greeting was saying ‘table number’ whilst staring into space. I said that actually, I wasn’t ordering something, but was here to complain about the soda. She immediately launched into a big spiel about it working and being absolutely fine. I showed her the soda, with no bubbles. She said that it was fizzing coming out of the machine(I should have said that that was froth due to pressure of pushing liquid through pipes but I didn’t). It got to a point where she was all but telling me to ‘F-off’ so I concluded by that it was a poor product experience, and a poor customer experience, and they probably should call out the Coca-Cola machine guy. She never at one point just said sorry. By the time we left, their frozen yoghurt machine also was out of order. So no soda, ice or ice cream on a hot day. With absolutely zero warning or apologies. What ever happened to the customer is always right? It feels as though in London, the general attitude is that customers are wrong. And especially tonight at Nandos at Southside.

Had a pretty awesome sandwich here. The sauces were awesome to go with it. Spicy.sweet. I can’t really describe them since I had never had anything like them before. They are fresh with crisp greens on them but hearty with a good portion of juicy chicken and a little zest from the sauce. Good for a quick bite and very delicious. I’ll be sure to go back if I ever make it back to England again!

After living in London for a couple years, I really appreciate a Nando’s. It’s cheap, cheerful and generally pretty reliable. But I’ve never even tried the chicken. You see, I’m a vegetarian, but I love Nando’s because there are no fewer than three vegetarian main-meal options on the menu! And I also love the garlic peri peri sauce. But, mostly, I love Nando’s because of the small print at the bottom of the menu. It says that every effort has been taken to prevent their chickens from contacting their vegetarian items, ‘even by telephone’. Even by telephone! After I read that, I knew that Nando’s would always occupy a soft spot in my heart. Plus, their wine menu has apparently won loads of awards. A quick-service restaurant’s wine menu has won awards. Classy. I have to say, though, that the frozen yogurt worries me. It tastes very ice-creamy and sometimes like banana. I like banana. I like frozen yogurt. I like ice cream. But I do not like frozen yogurt that’s more like ice cream and tastes like banana. It is bad and wrong.

I like Nandos and it certainly fills a hole, but sometimes the setting could be better. This one, right next to the cinema in Southside, Wandsworth, has a bit to be desired. However, forget that, the food, the food. How’s the food? The food’s great. What I like about it is that the options are good. If you fancy going healthy, you can. If you want to chip it up, you can. And if you want to blow your head off with some seriously spicy chicken, then be my guest.

I was always reluctant to eat in Nando‘s cause I am not a big fan of spicy food and Nando‘ is famous for its hot chicken. But I was surprise to find out that they serve good sauces apart from the famous Peri Peri. They also serve the best of Portuguese and South Africa beers and wines, sangrias and fresh juices. It a good place for a family dinner, it has got the menu called«nandinos» for children under 10 and good options for vegetarians as well. I am sure everyone will be pleased.
