If I could give zero stars I would. I queued here for 40 minutes with 3 girl friends. Finally at the front of the queue, the group in front and my group were then ushered onto the street on the side of the road, thinking we might be next in. We stood on the corner of the road with no explanation of what was going on. We were then told to move further down the street and against the wall more. After 30 more minutes of waiting whilst they continue to let people in and not us, I politely asked the bouncer if he knew which queue this was. He said«that’s the queue over there». I replied that we were in that queue for 40 minutes. He shrugged his shoulders and said It’s not my problem I don’t know anything about it. So basically for absolutely no reason we’d queued right to the front and were then just ushered onto the street in a reject pile and told to move further down the street away from everyone. I don’t think I’ve ever been treated with so little respect and I don’t think I can call this a business if they think it’s normal to treat customers like that for no reason. Go to a pub. Go elsewhere. Just not here.

I originally wrote a glowing review of maddox club but after an awful experience at the restaurant and a run in with the staff and their treatment of you when you aren’t spending a 6 figure bill I have to change my review. I was invited to a birthday dinner at the Maddox club restaurant a couple of months ago, the food was average and the service up until the bill came was mediocre. The bill came up to £200 without service charge and £260 with. Clearly there was something wrong as £260 is far higher than the average 12.5%. The service charge, as is customary had(optional service charge 12.5%) written next to it so, as we had no intentions of spending such a high amount I spoke to the waiter and told him we would of course pay 12.5% but we could not pay £60 worth of service charge. The waiter told me he completely understood and I thought that would be the end of it. How terribly wrong I was. It was at this point that the manager came over to tell me that I was ‘not allowed’ to do this and that ‘service charge is compulsory’ unless I gave a reason for poor service and the manager decided it was invalid. When I argued that the service charge had been calculated incorrectly and in any case it was wrong, the manager told said ‘If you can’t afford mayfair, do not come to mayfair.‘ Needless to say I refused to pay the service charge and was then told by the manager that our party had to leave or be escorted out. Frankly I was disgusted by the service I received at Maddox restaurant and so I will not be returning to the club or the restaurant any time soon. It is clear that unless you are happy to pay extortionate prices, the staff here are happy to treat you like scum. DONOTRECOMMEND.

Very nice club with classy people. Sometimes its hard to get in if you come without girls. The club is big but they only have one bar which is upstairs. It would be good if the club has more than one bar. The club has an Inside smoking area which is a big plus.

The extremely posh and exclusive vibes are what Maddox is known for! And even though, that the club is a place for amazing and mind blowing parties with great tunes, the people, who can spend lots of cash are there to show it and that is what personally turns me off from going more often to this club.

It’s Ok… my friends been raving about this club for the longest time, when I went there the music was pretty much only hip hop, place was beautiful tho service was typical stuck up fancy club ppl like anywhere else in the world but the worst was the crowd… bunch of annoying kids barely legal :/

I can firmly judge this establishment based on the entrance queue alone. Maddox is mostly packed with pretentious beautiful girls all seeking the man with the largest wallet. Talking to these women is far less enjoyable than looking at them. To boot the staff are obnoxious. If you are a man you will need to be on the guest list to stand a chance of entering. If you are a women you will need to be extremely beautiful to be allowed to enter. Not my kind of establishment this is most definitely a club for the nouveau riche.

I was invited to go to Maddox as part of a group on ‘VIP’ guest list. We arrived between 10 and 11pm, and were let in very smoothly at the door. There wasn’t much of a line up and the door staff were friendly enough. The upstairs area was quietish, it’s downstairs where the clubbing takes place. It stayed relatively quiet until midnight/1pm-ish when the place really started to fill up. This is normally a good thing, but Maddox doesn’t really have a ‘dance-floor’ as such. The only space to groove is what’s left in between the various booths scattered about the place. The booths themselves are extremely small, literally three people could sit behind our table, and anyone else was left awkwardly standing over the rest. I guess if you want to sit and talk or engage with your party the best bet is the smokey patio. Maddox has a cool looking set up, excellent music(I was there on a Thursday) and the party gets going at the right time and lasts the distance. The beautiful and wealthy people are here to play, so if you want to join in the fun get down there and check it out. Don’t expect them all to be too friendly though, I never really felt like anyone would be down for a chat or to meet new people. Everyone was in tight little cliques and looked like they thought they were too good to be approached. Bit of a turn off tbh. They want people to drop big bills(they have a 50,000 pound bottle on the menu!), and will only afford better treatment to those who show it. This all adds to the somewhat pretentious nature of this joint, but then that IS their vibe, and their style. Expect to pay around 300 quid for a 750ml bottle of pretty much anything, and the sky’s the limit after that.

Expensive, crowded, and snotty. Or snooty? Either way, pretentious and overrated. As a Californian, I resent anywhere that tries to make itself seem better than it really is with lines outside, cover charges, and attitude if you’re not dressed up. Definitely not my type of place.

great night, great people, too crowded on Saturdays though, VIP secret room, is saving me all the time. And most fab thing, you can go in the kitchen and eat there, talk to chefs and even have a fag!

The music was great. Space is a problem because it gets overcrowded, but I would say it is one of the friendlier clubs in the area. The bouncers are bearable :)

This has been my favourite club in the West End for the past 2 years. I reallly enjoy the music, the crowd however, can be a bit pretentious but I am a regular customer here because of the overwhelming music, which leaves no one with no option but to dance away! Thursday night and Saturday nights are my favourite!

would’ve gotten 5 stars if it weren’t for that snooty b… girl, at the door. almost didn’t get in even though we were on the list, why do girls always have such a complex with other girls? it’s not like we were there to steal her list checking job, yeesh. anyways, once we got in, it was smooth sailing. the venue was great, not too big not too small. the dance floor was scattered with VIP tables but it didn’t feel cramped or anything. there were also little alcoves of booths that were up for grabs(seats around 4 smallish girls) without being designated for bottle service. cover was the standard £20. smoking area was intimate and garden pretty. definitely ranks high in my list of Mayfair venues, would definitely go back!

This is the best members club in London. And it stays on top because they stay true to their original rules and policies. You have to make an effort with your appearance, it makes everyone feel the atmosphere of a celebration of some sort. Food is great, too, I used to come here for dinner every Saturday. I personally like the room upstairs a little more, great electro tunes. Downstairs is quite commercial to my liking. But the best room is, of course, the Green Room. Although, there is no chance you get in unless you know any of the owners. Some may think it’s too stuck up, but trust me it’s well-deserved.

I was invited here and received VIP treatment(because of who I was with not because I am any sort of VIP) so my review may be skewed. I was surprised at how good the food was for a «club» and the service was exceptional, I am not much of a club person however so when the DJ started the techno, I was ready to leave. Very attractive crowd but it got a little douchy as the night went on.

Being my first time in London, my friend took me out to Maddox with her friends who happened to be members… overall, it was a fun experience but nothing like LA or Vegas, which can be a good thing, but which can also be bad. First thing, coat check(pro). I really wish clubs in LA started investing in coat checks or lockers(which I always see in Asia) because it makes clubbing so much easier and convenient. Second thing, décor(pro). I think there were two floors, the main level seemed to be mostly a restaurant and bar and then the bottom floor was the dance floor… Next, people(con). Everyone seemed very pretentious(too cool for dancing… the locals told me that members don’t like to dance but instead just sway their hips around…) also, there isn’t really a dance floor… it’s more of an aisle or whatever room you can find in between tables. Music(con) same techno/house/trance music over and over and over again… Since I haven’t been to any other clubs here yet, I can’t compare it to anything else here in the UK but aside from the dressiness factor(which I enjoy because everyone just looked that much classier), I’d personally prefer clubbing in the states …

A classic venue on the Mayfair members’ nightclub circuit, this relatively large venue is often host to a number of celebrity guests and features regularily in the London eve papers. Need to have a high spending power or on the guest list to get in. Upstairs is more lounge like, whereas downstairs is the nightclub. Has a little outside courtyard for smokers, which is appreciated.

maddox is fantastic between the hours of 1:30 — 4AM. The music slowly turns from electro to hip-hop/dance/house, and people start to leave their tables to converge in the small areas that serve as walkways between the tables. I thought it was the right level of attendance– not too empty and not too crowded. Just enough people to energize the space and allow everyone to dance. I spent all my time downstairs, which seemed to be much more happening than the upstairs(eating area?). Overall, I enjoyed my time and would be happy to go back!

Have been to this members’ club plenty of times… it’s medium-sized and atmosphere-wise everything is neon and illuminated… including the stairs … the creators’ seem to have been inspired by Dan Flavin’s fluorescent art installations. There are a couple of floors and areas, but the party is really downstairs. Maddox is really funny in that, even though most people have tables, there’s a whole conspicuous hierarchy as to which table you have and your level of prestige at the club. Some tables are ridiculously small, where you’re practically on top of the table next to you, while the nice tables are much bigger and spread apart and more on display. The coveted place is the large table right next to patio/smoking area… since there’s *always* a huge line to go out there, and if you’re seated here, the doorman will usually just nod you through. Beyond the nicotine-fix aspect, this courtyard area is the place to be in Maddox since it’s where you really get to talk and socialize. The music is a lot cooler and edgier than what you find at most other private clubs… a mix of techno to R&B… nothing too popish — they’re certainly not going to play any Justin Timberlake. It’s also a pretty mixed crowd… I’ve met everyone here from Hoxton artists to posh British and international kids… to total weirdos. While we’re on the subject of total weirdos, I should mention that a group of us came here for a friend’s birthday… earlier in the night she’d unwrapped her presents and they were stowed away under our table(which was one of the more decently sized variety) and *everything* — from her wallet to her newly acquired stash of birthday presents — was stolen. Maybe I’m wrong, but I really just don’t see that happening at some of the other private clubs. My major complaint with Maddox is that they habitually seem to exceed capacity… especially if you’re a straggler without a table, it can feel miserably crammed… plus there’s the that ever-present queue for the patio and you always end up waiting a *long* time to use the toilets. I say, if you happen to have the opportunity, definitely give Maddox a go; spend the majority of your time outside — say 60% — and the other 40% inside at your table, and you’ll probably have a pretty good night.

Right in the heart of Mayfair this private members club is over indulgent, exclusive and extremely expensive. There is a nightclub downstairs, a restaurant area on the mezzanine level and a bar on the upper level as you first enter the club. I went for a friends birthday, and as he happened to know a member who prepared a table and easy access to the club for us. However, we, for some reason were sat in the private area and completely cordoned off form the main part of the club, which I didn’t really like. The music was blaring out a mix of electro house run by female model DJ’s. Drinks were expensive, and our host so kindly ordered a bottle of extremely expensive rum which was gone in short matter of time, so not really worth it. It was totally not the kind of night I was expecting. It wasn’t the most memorable night…
