That one head massage emoji doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel right now.
I found this place via Groupon UK, as I’d seen another branch on Upper Street over the weekend. When I’d called to make an appointment, the girl over the phone informed me that there were Groupon issues (something about Groupon wasn’t paying them for it) but she let me book a next day appointment for the same deal of £27.50 for a one hour massage. The Asian in me already felt like «score!»
So I get there for my appointment this evening, and I’m shown into this cute little room with a mat on the floor. The towels and pillows are so prettily arranged on the mat that I’m confused how the heck to lie down on there after stripping down to my «knickers» (haha, I’m American). Naem, my wonderful, wonderful masseuse, kindly instructs me and proceeds to give me one of the best massages I’ve ever had. Granted, once she’d mounted me I’d realized of all my past ones I’d never gotten a Thai massage before, but it was amazing beyond my expectations. I’ve been full body sore for a few weeks now due to moving/​traveling exhaustion, and this was exactly what I’d needed. Naem took her sweet time unwinding all the knots in my shoulders and completely melted away all the tension in my arms and legs, working a serious miracle with her thumbs and elbows. Naem hit all my pain points — and I mean all — without me even mentioning a word. «Anyone can massage, but… my technique!» Her technique is truly stellar.
As an American going into the massage, I initially could not fathom paying the full £55 ($ 86?!) for an hour long massage. But afterwards, considering how renewed I now feel — and no longer converting — I’ll admit… I will most definitely be back. Thank you so much, Naem!
