The perks of setting up a secret hairdressers above a pub are many — the proximity to booze chief among them. But people having their hair done expect a little luxury, so when the roof of the Cat and Mutton pub started to leak, international hair stylist Kenna Kennor decided it was closing time for his above-​boozer-​grooming-​rooms. Kennaland’s new home is just a stroll-​through-​the-​park away, but it’s still deliberately difficult to track down. Its new underground location is literally underground — in the basement of a modern block set a little below street level, and within easy reach of pop-​up roof bars and the infamous Boiler room music studios. The décor is much more contemporary and industrial than the studio’s former home — designed to be in keeping with a new outpost over the pond in Brooklyn. But the team and personalized service remain unchanged.
