Specialties
Ivy Tutors is a premier London-based agency providing outstanding private tuition services to those who have the desire to add an extra dimension to their children’s current studies. We pride ourselves in recruiting only the highest quality teachers and tutors who have exemplary academic achievement and passion to guide our students to pursue their own academic careers successfully. We specialise in confidence building and exam preparation from 7+ right up to A-levels. We also offer specific tuition for coursework, essays, projects or university preparatory exams. Our aim is to leverage our expertise, experience and relationships to help students realise their goals.
History
Established in 2010.
Ivy Tutors was founded by Timothy Li and Alastair Delafield on the belief that mainstream schooling approaches have significant limitations in meeting some students’ specific requirements. Anecdotal evidence shows that students often fall behind in a school environment simply because there are insufficient resources to address such issues. Instead of re-inventing the wheel, Tim believes private one-on-one tuition is the missing link between a school and its students and can enhance a child’s academic career substantially.

Manager
Al is the Managing Director and co-founder of Ivy Tutors. He graduated from Bristol University with a degree in Geosciences and has been involved in education since 2004. He started out as a Teaching Assistant at Garden House School in Chelsea. After quickly realising that teaching was an exciting and rewarding profession, Al enrolled at Bath University to complete his Post Graduate Certificate of Education (P.G.C.E.). He chose to specialise in Sciences as this was his passion at University. Since qualifying as a teacher, Al has taught at Dulwich College Prep School and Thomas’s Prep School, both in London. In between these two jobs, Al also took a three month sabbatical in Melbourne, Australia, where he taught Sciences to children aged 9 — 16 years old.
Al now works as an evening tutor of Maths and Sciences for Ivy Tutors, helping children aged 6 years up to 16 years. As a qualified teacher, he prides himself on his dynamic and stimulating sessions.
