I liked this place. It is very clean as someone else has noted. I didn’t have any problems with the staff. They were friendly. It’s slightly more upmarket than your regular fish and chips. The décor is a mix of black and white with chrome flushes reminded me of a American diner. The regular chips are 2 pounds. It is cooked to order so there is a slight wait and it came in a old fashioned chip box which I found quite quaint. Wasn’t the best chips in the world but it was OK. Prices are reasonable and the portion size was good. I’ll be back for sure.

This is really a good fish & chips joint. A bit touristy, but I guess the location on Baker Street makes this place a popular spot for the visitors. Nevertheless the quality is good and the prices are reasonable. They prepare the fish fresh after the order, so it is really tasty if you fancy some cod & chips with mushy peas after visiting 221b Baker Street :)

Not worth the money. I have never tasted chips that managed to have no flavor whatsoever. Someone mentioned they drowned theirs in salt and vinegar, I did as well. They managed to somehow repel the flavor of salt and vinegar and continued to be tasteless. That in and of itself was kind of a miracle, just not a good one. Go somewhere else. Not worth £12.

Despite the hours on the door specifically stating that they aren’t open on Sundays… they were open a couple of Sundays ago! So we tried it out. If we’d eaten the fish RIGHTTHERE in the shop instead of dragging it 4 blocks back to the hotel, I think it might have been better — crisper, anyway. As it was, the breading was starting to get a little soggy. But the pieces of fish were HUGE, so that is one point in favor of Holmes. The chips, on the other hand, were not up to snuff. My husband claims that his tasted like the oil they’d been fried in was rancid. They were very doused in salt and vinegar, so I wasn’t sure. But I didn’t finish mine. The guy on line in front of us asked for a refund because he’d been waiting so long his lunch hour was basically over. That’s a negative. And yes, it did seem like getting our order took too long. The shop is spotlessly clean and nicely decorated.

I came here on the basis of a solitary 5-star review… And it didn’t live up to it at all. The staff were rude, which is fine — so long as the food stood up to order. It failed miserably. They fish wasn’t freshly fried — god knows how long it was sitting out. The chips were tasteless and dull, and I think managed to suck any smidgen of flavour that I happened to impart myself by drowning the whole sorry mess in salt and vinegar in the vain hope that my dejected tongue might experience any sensations whatsoever. Alas, it was not meant to be.

I have been here two times now as it is just up the road from where I am currently working. This fish and chips is a good little chippy, the food is brilliant and is not horribly oily, like some of the chippies around. I have had the cod and chips. The next day chicken and a free on the house serving of chips(as lack of money, prevented me from getting chips) They are nice, they also have a rule if you go at the right time, «If you listen to the fryer you get a discount» which lets be frank means FREEFOOD! Would I go there again? Gladly! Would I buy more from this place? HELLYES! Was I bribed for this from my «Free food»? No, I genuinely did enjoy it and want more. It is good, honestly, do go and try this chippie. Oh and you may hear«Don’t trust chippie chicken» This one you can trust to be given good food.
