Specialties

For over 40 years The Seashell Restaurant offers the finest fish and chips in London, served in friendly, relaxing, traditional surroundings. It has gained a great reputation with everyone from fans of good food to famous celebrities.

Through it‘s commitment to fresh and conscientiously sourced products, our restaurant seeks to ensure that your meal is as environmentally friendly as enjoyable. As we are striving to support local businesses, we are proud of using finest locally grown or sourced ingredients and products, such as potatoes from local farms for our chips or cider made from 100% British apples. For us it is all about keeping it fresh, delicious, and local.

Therefore, whether you want to grab a quick bite of top quality traditional fish and chips in a take away or indulge yourself with a delicious dinner in the restaurant, The Seashell of Lisson Grove is the place to go.

History

Established in 1968.

The Seashell of Lisson Grove has been serving the best traditional fish and chips since 1968 when it was founded by John Faulkner. Ever since it has been a family run business and for over 15 years, since 1998, is owned by the same family. The restaurant grew rapidly from a twelve-seater fish and chips shop to one of the busiest and most famous shops in the country. It expanded to a ninety-seater restaurant receiving glowing media coverage, not only in England but also in articles published in the United States, Canada, and Japan.

In 2009, fire destroyed the interior of the restaurant and unfortunately, it had to be closed for refurbishment. On reopening, the restaurant and take away appeared to be more modern, stylish and upmarket, but still largely the same — serving good traditional British food in new and bright ambience. The colour of the place comes from Harry Billson’s paintings, which remind of a sun — filled days in the park, and a sparkling blue aquarium that charms everyone.
