If I could give zero stars I would — just over 2 weeks on my hair has never been in such a state. My usually thick hair that he said he was going to ‘lighten’ for more volume, has now been so thinned out that it looks dead, lanky and flat. I kept hoping that my hair was just ‘adjusting’ to the cut — but after a week I knew it had been properly massacred! Ends are dry, I seem to have more split ends than when I started, hair just looks completely lifeless and falls flat around my face. At least I won’t need a haircut for another few… years, but whatever you do — avoid Hob!

I hate giving negative reviews, I really do, but since this is one of the worst haircuts I’ve ever received — and I paid A LOT for it — I feel like people should know what they are getting. I went in for a cut, color and highlights and I told them on the phone that I needed someone with a lot of experience cutting hair. My hair is(well, was) thick, long, and curly and I always ask for someone with curly hair experience. I was moderately concerned when I walked in and everyone(customers and staff) all had short, straight and somewhat thin hair as I know that salons often have specialties. So when I sat down I said«I really really just want it trimmed and shaped and kept long»…I hoped she would just trim up the layers. I started to get concerned when 6 inches plopped into my lap but she said«don’t worry, I’m just shaping some of the longer layers» and I trusted her. Well to say that my hair is an unmitigated disaster is an understatement. What she did was hack off all of shape of the wave in a cut that looks butchered, literally. I tried to put my curly hair product in it and it frizzed, creating a mushroom cap. Because I requested that she leave it long, she took that to mean that she could cut off as much of the layers as she wanted but leave the bottom — so now I look like a mushroom — VERY short top — and then REALLY long hair underneath, with no shape and no way of wearing it curly. It’s almost like a long hacked mullet. She cut so much into the thickness that I’ve lost about half of my ponytail — which is all I can wear these days. When I try and straighten it you can see the butcher job and wearing it curly is out. I went to another salon to try and get it fixed but the only way they could fix it was to cut my hair to my shoulders — or just wait six months for the layers to grow out enough for them to be shaped. Maybe they do a better job on straight, short hair, but curlies, avoid this place like the plague. As for the color, it was fine, nothing to write home about. For the privilege of this mediocre color and cut I paid £200, which is incredible to me. Lesson learned.
