Nice Mediterranian restaurant in Greenwich. Their lunch menu is outstanding. Eight GBP for a starter and a main. I had the olives and bread as my starter. Unfortunately the waiter didn’t know the olives and bread came with bread. Hmmm. But some gentle prodding produced the bread. I had the sea bass fillet with chips. Portions were large. The interior is clean and modern. Really, just a good goto place when you’re touring around Greenwich.

I’ve walked past this Mediterranian restaurant in Greenwich a number of times. We finally went in and wow, am I glad we did! The food was absolutely delicious! I had the Iskerda, which was absolutely amazing! When it comes to Turkish cuisine, this place is quickly running up the ranks as a favourite for me! In no way is this a corner kebab shop, it’s a full blown Turkish restaurant with great faire! As an after dinner treat, I suggest you go just down the street to Mevali Shisha Bar to keep the Turkish theme going for the night!

We stopped in to Helva after a Greenwich tour and were surprised at how busy it was. As it turns out, it’s because the food is wonderful! We ordered humus(ground chick peas with tahini, garlic, lemon and virgin olive oil) and Tavuk Shish(grilled marinated chicken cubes on skewer served with couscous). Both were not only beautifully presented on the plates, they were amazingly fresh and delectable — we wished that we were staying closer to Greenwich so we could come back for dinner! Service was great, everyone was friendly and helpful.

There’s always one spot in a town that’s a total nomansland. Restaurants pop up, then they close again. This is the case with this spot on Greenwich Church Street. And until recently I expected Helva to be closing soon, it didn’t exactly have a fan fare opening. But then I walked past the other day, and it was almost entirely full. That was the turning point for me and I was there two days later to check it out. It’s not perfect. The service is a little over attentive, the food doesn’t look as tasty as it actually is. Calamari starter looked a little anaemic but tasted excellent, the boy’s special dish of chicken stuffed with prawns was unusual and probably wasn’t the best choice. Especially not since my lamb shish with cous cous was excellent. I’m not a massive fan of cous cous, but they might have even convinced me to try it again. The lamb was some of the tastiest I’ve had in a very long time. I wasn’t feeling well, so we didn’t stay long. Atmosphere wasn’t exactly buzzing, but then it was a Monday night so that’s not a surprise. Dinner for 2, £30. Not perfect, not the best in Greenwich, but that lamb is worth me going back.
