Today I’d like to give a general review. I’ve been there for many times. Highly recommend their chicken teriyaki, at this brunch! Coz chicken teriyaki at other brunches like Brunswick is not as good as here. If you’re a fan of vegetables, there green salad is amazing, especially the dressing. As for noodles, the soup is generally salty, but taste good!

We got sufficiently good sushi takeaway from here. My chirashi(sashimi over rice with pickles) was fine, and my husband seemed to enjoy his chicken wings, salmon nigiri, and chicken maki. They don’t offer many special maki(rolls), but they have a good selection of nigiri. Prices were more reasonable than several nearby places, though still high compared to non-sushi food in the neighbourhood. However, when we ate in, my sushi was frozen solid, making it unpleasant. It looked like the hot dishes were much better, so I think if you stick with them, you should be fine. The space is quite trendy and buzzing, so perhaps that is the appeal for most folks.

Great place for a quick and casual asian fusion bite. Service is efficient, place is clean, food is better than most in this category. The laksa is definitely amazing and pretty authentic, I also like the tonkotsu ramen which is great. Cheap and cheerful.

Located right next to the station, it was easy to find. While the décor was very modern, I would have never guessed this was a Japanese/Chinese fusion restaurant. The food was good and reasonably priced. My biggest issue was the setup. The tables were packed in so tightly, you’d had to squeeze just to get to the booth and be willing to share you neighbors conversation. All in all, not a bad little place.

fantastic food and good value. The sushi is fresh and delicious and the curry laksa is my favourite main course. My only problem is that its often too busy to get a big table!

I came here on the advice of my husband’s friend, and by the end of it, I kinda wanted to punch him in the face for insisting I get the chicken katsu curry. He swore it was the best thing on this earth. It’s basically a big-ass bowl of rice with chicken katsu which is drenched in a pint of curry. *facepalm* WHYY did I listen? On to better news… the sushi actually isn’t bad. And it’s not terribly expensive either. We had the salmon sake maki and a load of other things and I would definitely advise you to stick to the authentic, classic Japanese dishes. Fusion(like mixing Japanese with curry) tends to go terribly wrong. Overall, it wasn’t bad. I would come back but only for the classics. Oh and BEER. Always beer.

Location wise is strategic and convenient. It is just one minute walk from Ealing Broadway station. Interior and condition of the restaurant is well maintained. The lighting is very welcoming. The food, was okay. I had ebi katsu curry with rice and my friend had unagi with rice. The portion. well they are very generous with with rice but they only serve with 3 prawns!!! I probably was expecting more. Their price is a good bargain, and what i like most about this place is that they do take-away! Also, they do refillable teas :) Their staff are not very friendly. It would be better if they have more staff during dinner time as it is the busiest time. It is probably the best place for a quick bite, not a decent place for social.

The food here is fantastic every single time. The only thing that lets this place down is the serving staff. They’re not the friendliest bunch but the food is so good it can be overlooked. Price-wise it’s a bargain for what you get and regardless of the staff we return again and again. Definitely recommend.

Been passing by this restaurant but never get the chance to try. The reviews are very good in here, mostly because of their affordable price for Japanese food. My friend and I got there on a weekday night, a few people already waiting before us. The wait staff just told us to wait, and they got us a table 10 – 15 mins later. We were a bit early to avoid the long queue. The décor of the restaurant was very nice, good lightings, very clean and modern! We had a hard time to choose from a big menu, and apparently they serve a bit Chinese, a bit Japanese and Southeast Asian dishes. Well, which made me wondered if the food were good or not. We ordered some sushi, some rolls, some fried noodles and drinks. They were all«edible», not the best Asian food I had, not the worse, all I could say was edible. For its price, I might probably will go again, but it didn’t give me the urge to go again any time soon. Probably once a year :-p One down side, the restaurant was very busy, it got really really noisy, customers shouting, screaming, laughing… Not the right place if you want to have a cozy dinner chatting with your friends or love ones… Oh, forgot to mention the service, it was just ok. By the time we were leaving, there were hundreds of people waiting outside. Worth the wait? Hmm…

This is my fav place to eat of all time! I love everything on the menu, its in a nice location and the staff are very efficient. Best things on the menu(in my opinion) are the curry laksa and the roast duck with rice. They also do really good sushi. They have a great selection of Saki, teas and fruit juices. Its a bit cramped but great for a catch up with friends and very casual. I wouldnt go there for a romantic night out its a bit too cosy and no such thing as a private conversation!

Very average food not like it was a few years ago. Centrally cooked good the chicken wing stick were simply awful and salty. Noodles were okay and duck rice simply lacked taste. Needs to up its game especially as there are much better places around offering better quality nearby.

Oooh back when I was a student I LOVED the Hare & Tortoise, it was reasonably priced, HUGE portions of Chinese-y Japanese food. It was also one of the few places to serve(not particularly authentic) ramen 10 years ago, before the current ramen craze… Since then, the standard of Japanese food in London has improved, but this chain still isn’t bad in comparison. They have quite a large menu with noodles(both in soup and stir-fried), sushi, donburi-type rice dishes, curries as well as lots of izakaya dishes. Last time I visited I tried the unagi. I shouldn’t really order unagi in England as it normally disappoints me… This unagi looked pretty decent and the taste was good(they’ve got the unagi sauce down perfectly) but the texture made me a little sad. My favourite places in Japan first steam the unagi, then grill it, so it is all smooshy-melt-in-your-mouth in the middle, with slightly crispy edges. Here it was just squishy. It seemed like they microwave it… *sigh* I should probably give them 3.5 stars(as the staff can be quite rude/rubbish) but I’ll round it up to four stars just because they are such good value… and because they have unagi on the menu in the first place! If you want some authentic Japanese grub, then this isn’t the best place to visit. BUT if you’d like quick, tasty, reasonably priced food, then it is a good choice.

Never ate there, I keep having to remind myself that this is England more specifically London and not to expect any level of customer service. Waited for about 5 minutes with a menu in my hand to place a to go order. Nobody even looked over at the counter, my judgement is if this is how it starts I don’t want to continue into this journey any further.

I’ve eaten at the Hare & Tortoise a few times over the years mostly at lunchtimes with colleagues. Found it very busy every time and the staff weren’t overly friendly but the food has always been good. The portions are quite large for me but good value for money. Not my favourite place to dine at lunchtimes but certainly not the worst place to go in Ealing.

Was taken here for a quick lunch and chat while concluding a business meeting, the place looks really cool, from the outside it wasn’t clear if it was a takeaway or eat in, but you go in the main door and can look through the hatch and see your food being made, you can order your take out here too, or you go to your left and into the restaurant area, which was nicely laid out with 2 seater table’s and four seater booths, we took a booth. So we decided to have some starters to share, Edamame which are Steamed soya beans in the pod, lightly salted. and some Tori plus Chive & Shrimp Gyoza(chicken dumplings) they were excellent really flavoursome and the soya beans especially were really interesting, if not a bit of a challenge for me to get out of the pod and in my mouth while still talking(maybe it’s because I’m a man and can’t multi task?) Then for the mains we asked our server to make some recommendations and they pointed us towards the Singapore Rice Noodles and Char Kuey Tiew, with some Unagi and Avocado Maki, it was awesome, really hit the spot not to heavy but filling and interesting flavour and texture. They have a small chain of stores in Bloomsbury, Ealing(this one), Putney, Kensington and Blackfriars, I will be returning

Had an evening meal and the mixed shared dishes were good, tempura, sashimi and sushi all above average for the price. No cold noodle dishes and Sake was disappointment in both quantity and quality, call me fussy but I knocked this back to 3 stars. Will go again but beer only and want to try noodles.

A great and cheap restaurant serving all kinds of Asian food… Sushi here is great and the noodle and rice dishes are massive! The restaurant is very popular and busy, especially on the weekends but we have never had to wait for a table too long.

This was the first restaurant I had gotten some food at since arriving to England, I got takeaway instead of sitting down. I ordered the salmon with teriyaki sauce on rice for 6.75 pounds. It was of average portion, definitely enough to fill you up, but not enough to have leftovers. I was stuffed by the end of it. The salmon was very fresh and it was a good size. It was perfectly moist and the sauce was good when mixed with the rice, i prefer to mix the rice, and turn all the salmon into little pieces so i get some salmon with each bite of rice. There is a bench for you to sit at while waiting. Takes about 10 – 15 minutes for takeaway, and there seems to be a wait for dining in as well. You can see the chefs cooking, and they will probably look at you every so often while you wait. At least you know that they have nothing to hide! The eel rice is amazing, and it did not fail to impress me. *will update on other dishes as I try!

My boyfriend took me to this restaurant when I arrived from LA late at night. Salmon sashimi was excellent and I liked their roasted duck & rice. The staff were friendly and polite. I would love to go back again when I go to see him again :)

Since this is located in the local shopping area(Ealing Broadway) I’ve come here a few times for lunch with friends. Appetizers we enjoyed: Tori Goyza, Chicken Yakitori and Panko Honey King Prawns Tempura — Ebi(Shrimp) and Tempura Moriawase(Shrimp and Vegetables) Sushi — Dragon Roll and Spicy Tuna Maki They have Ramen, Noodle and Rice dishes but I’ve not tried those. The food good, great value for money, and the staff are helpful & polite.
