History

Established in 1918.

The Twilley family story began in London in 1918 with George William Twilley who started his working life as a market green grocer after the First World War. In the early mornings he sold his wares at market but his vehicle was left unused for the rest of the day, so, as many green grocers did back then, he ran a removal company in the afternoons.

George’s son Stanley Charles Twilley soon followed in his father’s footsteps after working as a Royal Engineer in the Second World War.

He and his wife Lorna developed the company and began to focus more on the removals side of the business and added haulage export, packing and storage services.

After finishing school, Stanley and Lorna’s son Malcolm George Twilley, joined the family business to help his dad on the removal sides of things and as the family continued to take it forward, Twilley and Son just kept growing.
