This place had pretty bad service tbh. We got a little ignored and were left to ourselves to arrange the seating so 4 of us could actually sit together. The flat white was okkkk but not great and very over priced. The carrot cake was delicious!!! But again expensive. The feta and aubergine sandwich was also very yum and served warm. We also bought a baguette to take away to have with some cold meats for dinner — beautiful soft inside with a lovely crisp crust. I also want to try their other branches that have a more sit down dinner vibe and the food looks good! I’d recommend popping in for takeaway food but don’t stop if the service I received is anything to go by.

Occasion: Afternoon stop off for tea, coffee, sandwiches Location: all very centrally located in soho and the strand Atmosphere: very relaxed, chatty conversations, trendy Italian style music, hustle and bustle though so maybe not the most quiet option Food: a good choice of sandwiches, croissants, cakes, all freshly made Value for money: a little on the pricier side but it is central London and the quality is outstanding

I went here one evening late for a chorizo and wine night at the counter and just loved the quality of the ingredient as well as the vino. A proper lovely place tho maybe more comfortable stools would be nice. A reliable place in general I’m glad they have a few though hope they don’t become too big that they spread themselves thin in these original branches as all the current ones are fab places to sit and spend time in.

I keep going here when up in London because I’m going to Silver Place a few doors away, but I always leave thinking it wasn’t really worth it. Little metal chairs, door open and boy, yesterday was it cold in there. Crowded, no room, not appealing to stay in… so is it really a take away? The queue is nearly always slow moving… but there is a steady queue And it all looks good… the coffee is good but nowhere near as good as at Said round in Broadwick St. The almond croissant I had yesterday was small, a little chewy and not very filled but tasty nevertheless… but look at Le Petit Nicola in Battersea… wow…no comparison either. So why is it always full… guess the cakes and sandwiches or the egg breakfast thing they were doing are good, don’t know It just feels expensive and I go out thinking shortchanged, let down somehow, hmmm No wifi… why not? No excuse… or are they actively discouraging you from simply sitting, taking your time, enjoying… do a few emails… If only Said opened before 11… so I guess I’ll stop by again

A bit off the beaten path, but well worth it. Delicious sandwiches and breads. Everything seems to be homemade.

Popped into this place for lunch today in soho based on these reviews. Got the cheese and tomato croissant which was great but not worth 4£ I don’t think. I will pop back to try something else tho the veggie options are limited. It’s a small place with few seats but a nice vibe!

I just had one of the best sandwiches here. You guys — it was perfection. The most wonderful toasty, buttery bun was filled with perfectly cured parma ham, manchego cheese, rocket and a kalamata olive tapenade. Sounds so simple — but it all worked together so perfectly. The shop is very small, but what they have to offer is big. Their selection of sandwiches and daily soups makes it so hard to decide what to get! And their coffees are fabulous as well. Friendly staff, great location, fantastic food and drinks = 5 star and will go back!

This place is quite kitschy and cute. At first I thought I would be disappointed because when we went there were no sandwiches out yet, but eventually after sitting down for a few minutes they brought a ton of beautiful sandwiches out to eat. I ended up going with a grilled chicken sandwich with mayo, arugula, and some shaved parmesan. They cooked it on the panini grill, and it was melty goodness. Another delicious thing was the coconut carrot cake. My brother ended up gobbling down half of it before I could get a bite.

If you know me, you also know how much I hate chains, and coffee chains in particular. But yet I seem to be gravitating towards Fernandez & Wells and can’t get enough of them … probably because each of its outlets is distinctly different from the next and doesn’t have a chain feel. I used to work in Beak Street and feel quite sentimental about the area. Just wish I could time travel back and take all the fancy coffee shops with me! The first thing I noticed was the impressive selection of cakes. There was absolutely no excuse to buy a slice at 11.30-ish though. Too late for a second breakfast, too early for lunch(cake for lunch?!). Not an obvious time for a coffee either which explained the happy fact that we got a table in the window. Considering how busy this area is, opening such a tiny coffee shop seems quite brave.

Loved it! Hubby and I were shopping for sheet music in Soho and got peckish, so it looked like a good place to stop for late-afternoon tapas and a bit of wine. It was around 5 pm on a Saturday and not very busy. It had a nice mellow vibe and the staff were friendly. We had a meat and cheese platter that was fairly amazing. One of our selections was prosciutto, and we watched as the staff behind the counter pulled a hunk from the window and sliced it up. Thick slices too. The Neal’s Yard pecorino cheese was yummy, as were the olives. It was all served with toasted sourdough bread, which was probably the best I’ve had in London. The selection of wines by the glass was limited, only four or five options, but my red wine was great. They also have a sherry menu featured on a blackboard if you’re into that. I’ll definitely go back.

Fernandez and Wells does amazing coffees and extremely tasty sandwiches, at an affordable price(For London). However if your an American you may be used to slightly larger meal sizes, so a sammie won’t fill you up here. I always get a sandwich, coffee and a cake if I’m pretty hungry. The cakes are amazing and unique as well. Yum!

Went here for a quick sandwich. Jamon and cheese on Turkish, simple and delish for £5.25. Cool setup!

Finally an amazing coffee in London! Certainly the best I’ve had since arriving. Apparently they use the famous Monmouth coffee here so definitely worth a visit if you especially if you can’t be bothered lining up at Monmouth Café. The food looks unreal I especially liked the look of the chorizo panini and the prices are extremely reasonable. I can’t wait to go back and eat my way around the counter food :)

A delightful little coffee and sandwich shop. I came for a morning flat white and ham croissant. I was not disappointed! They toasted up the croissant with a bit of cheese in a panini press. What a delightful melty treat!

Wow. This coffee shop really is on the petite side. I am pretty sure that more space is devoted to cakes, sandwiches and coffee than to seating for customers. The seating that is there is doted around the café’s walls bar room style and is usually full — a good sign! The coffee itself is enjoyably dense and well made putting it among London’s better cups. What really differentiates this particular shop from its competition is the quality of their sandwiches. These were stacked high when I last visited shortly before lunch. While they are not cheap(I think my beef with chimi chura on focaccia was north of £6) they are certainly delicious and I wolfed mine down contentedly. The cakes are similarly excellent. One day, I am sure that I will tire of Portuguese custard tarts. However, if they remain to be as tasty as they are here, that will be a long time coming!

Hands down one of my favourite places to grab a sandwich in Soho. Fresh sandwiches on crunchy ciabatta rolls made daily; get there early — they run out fast. The best ones are the manchego and parma ham, or the almost-famous chorizo with roasted peppers(the chorizo is fried for you when you order, so it’s hot). Worth noting that this is actually one of two shops, joined by the same kitchen underneath. The Beak street one has more space and seats, but there’s a whole other shop in Lexington street round the corner. Space is limited inside that one, but I prefer it as it feels quieter and more intimate. Go early to grab seats at the bar. Perfect for a catch up with friends over a glass or two of wine.

Don’t think of this as a coffee shop. Think of it as a coffee stand that happens to have a few seats… possibly. If you’re lucky. The first thing you’ll notice about Fernandez & Wells is that it’s tiny. Or you will if it’s any popular time during the day when all the seats are taken, because there can’t be more than 20 in the entire space, and even that might be generous. This entire shop is made up of the coffee bar, a few seats in the front, seats along the wall and a few seats in the back. And even the seats in the back are tiny, so it feels like you’re sitting in a chair made for a three year old who’s trying to sit at the grown-up table. If you ask if there is a downstairs with more seating, you’ll get a «we hear this all the time and the answer is no» look. However, the second thing you’ll notice is excellent coffee at an excellent price. I got a cappuccino and it was delicious. Rich, hot, sweet but not too sweet, really the perfect cup of coffee. I had a meeting here, originally taking one of the tiny chairs in the back but switching to a normal person size when they opened up. The meeting was great, the coffee was delicious and I’ll know next time to maybe take it to go and meet somewhere else.

Were I religious, this would be my holy land. The iced lattes, my sacred wine. I’ve been to several locations in Soho, and each time the lattes have been exceptional. They have quality and consistency down to an art.

I’ve come here quite a few times, and as my reviews in London suggest, I’m looking for the ultimate coffee shop in London, having come here from Seattle. The first couple times, the sandwiches though expensive are good, the coffee tasty and the environment, clean cut and industrial. However, the food is not as good as Foxcroft and Ginger, the coffee not as great as Monmouth and the atmosphere not as good as St. Ali’s. Recently, however, the service has gone from Aussie awesome to British boorish. I ordered a hot chocolate one of the times and was just told«I can’t do a hot chocolate». No reason why, no apologies, just no, I can’t do it. Other times, a down right sigh when grabbing a sandwich from the black slate display stones seemed to greet you. All in all, I would have written a four star review based on the first couple times I’ve been here. Now, I’m giving this place 2 stars because as above, this place isn’t the best at anything, and the service is now completely dumpy. I live around the corner, and am glad to walk to Foxcroft and Ginger on Berwick any day.
