One of my very favourite places to get a Great sandwich and a very good coffee all whilst sitting ideally by the window and watching soho life go by. You can even bring the coffee to the other branch around the corner. A regular haunt for me because the food is of such high standard. Naturally never too cheap but I’m willing to pay good money for good quality.

When you’re doing consulting, you usually sell a project to a client and include a fixed estimate as to what the expenses should be. However, when you come to a city like London that has currency like the British Pound, that expense amount is reached fairly quickly, so you need to find restaurants that are delicious and also friendly to your budget. This obviously also applies to you if you’re in college, but, like, all the time. Fernandez & Wells is one of those magical places that allows you to have great food and wine, but also be budget-conscious. It’s a little tapas bar in a great location with a friendly staff, where you can post up and have some bocadillos(little sandwiches) and some coffee(if it’s the morning) or some wine(if it’s any time of day). I had some after-work drinks and a bite with a friend last night on her recommendation for a quick catch-up before the holidays, and it’s a really cute find amongst the many options in Soho! By the name, I don’t think that I could have guessed that it would be a Spanish tapas place… sounds almost like a pub, no? The place seats about 20 people in total with seats along the bar and a ledge against the opposite wall, so I thought it was perfect for parties of 2 people, but I would not come here with any more than 3 as there is simply no space. I ordered a glass of Picpoul(a French white wine) and my friend has a glass of red wine, and together we enjoyed the Padron peppers, raclette, jamon iberico, and mozzarella di Bufala. As you can see, the raclette, mozzarella, and the wine aren’t strictly Spanish, as the menu shows a general pan-European influence. We ordered the raclette because we thought it was a treat that you don’t get in London aside from a specialty raclette restaurant or a box in Borough Market. The jamon iberico and the mozzarella came drizzled with a delicious olive oil and were both served with 4 pieces of bread — perfect for 2 people but would be difficult to share among more! And the peppers were sprinkled with an amazing sea salt and not too greasy, which is perfect. I enjoyed everything about this place and would definitely come again.

Coming from the US, I was looking for a good place to eat lunch in Soho, and found one in Fernandez and Wells. The chorizo sandwich with peppers was excellent. Good, fast service too!

Después de un mes fuera de casa, tomar el fantástico gazpacho que preparan aquí fue una verdadera maravilla. Fresquera, casero y a pesar de la distancia, muy fiel a los principios. Bien situado y típicamente español con un servicio eficaz y amable.

Quick glance: + great tapas-sized food + small and yummy selection of wine + friendly staff — small venue Full review: This branch of Fernandez and Wells is all about wine and tapas-sized snack(unlike the one around the corner which is more about coffee). They offer a great taste of Spain, with cheeses, chorizo, cured meats and lovely wine selection from the country. There isn’t a lot of space in the venue, so it’s best for small groups(2 – 4). Once you are there, though, you can lose yourself in bite-sized snacks, good wine and great chatter, immersing yourself in Spanish happiness right in the centre of London.

Tiny, Spanish Tapas bar, where everyone kind of sits around the kitchen/bar. A big fan of the spanish ham, even though they did not have the pata negra one. Hard to get a seat on a Saturday night.

The place is really cute and cozy spot. They offer a variety selection of sandwiches which is really delicious. They had vegetarian choices to those people who are health conscious and never eat meats. They also had a salad selection to choose from, and a cheese plate menu which is really delicious. The quality of the food is really great, organic and fresh. You can also get a glass of wine and a plate of meat and cheese. Right along the corner is the coffee shop, which serves cakes and breakfast. And my favourite spot in this place is seating besides the window when you can see the busy street and people walking to and fro while having a cup of good and flavourful coffee.

Excellent service and food. The thing that made me the biggest impression was the cleanliness of the restrooms they were shining and obviously taken care of quite often. Anyway, the food and drinks were fresh and that completes my 5-stra rating.

Honestly, if it wasn’t so darn expensive I would be screaming 5 stars for this place. But based on the price, I would consider this place a bit of a treat. Great spot to grab a wine and a nibble, but don’t go hungry. Otherwise you will drop £80 like we did. Definitely worth a visit though — great meat and cheese plates and tons of wine by the glass. Small place and good service.

The husband and I managed to snag a couple stools for a pre-party bite. He ordered a glass of sherry and I asked for the cava, but we were brought two glasses of the former. «Oh,» said the waitress who had been singing along to the bar’s music. «I thought you wanted two glasses of sherry and then two glasses of cava.» Although there were only about 8 of us in the tiny building, it took her ages to pour them, so we decided to just go with it and cancel the unintended second round. We also opted for a plate of hams and some roasted padron peppers. I had never seen a slab of pig sliced in slo-mo until that evening. It was unreal. There was a problem with the little oven/warmer thing so the peppers took longer than expected as well. Good thing we didn’t want any raclette because that machine was broken as well. And even with all of the waiting, I still give it 4 stars because I know I’ll be back. It just seems to have a vortex that pulls me in when I’m looking for nice little place to pack into for a glass of wine or a nip of sherry.

I really like chilling out for hours here. Location & opening times This wine bar is not big so it tends to get very busy, crowded most of the weekend afternoons. The secret is, it is now opened to 10pm, the perfect place in late afternoon when most of the cafes are closed, restaurants not opened for dinner yet, and pubs boring and empty. Nice location — close to Liberty, Soho, there’s even the Riflemaker Gallery just round the corner. Wine & food My usual favourite here are Cote du Rhone, grilled chorizo, ham, manchego cheese and extra toasted bread(drizzled with fragrant olive oil). There are lots offered on the menu, and all of them are prepared, served with care, to customers who all look the discerning kind. You could order fizzy water, but i usually help myself to the lemon scented water served in water jugs on the counter bar. The food portion is not big, but enough to satisfy appetite of most sizes. Ambience The crowd is varied, from young 20’s to etc, friends, dates, families. Atmosphere is relaxed. Very civilised, now who doesn’t like that?

Add me to the list of fans for this place, please! This is a wonderful little bar with excellent wine and tapas and a great atmosphere. It’s tiny, it’s often crammed with people, so you’re likely to be standing rather than sitting, and there is no bathroom(!), but it has a warm and welcoming feel to it, fantastic service and it is simply one of my favourite places for a drink in Soho. To avoid(further) confusion: I am referring to the food and wine bar, NOT the café(which is in Beak St) and NOT the espresso bar(St Anne’s Court).

This bar has rapidly become my favorite place to have an after work drink in Soho. It is very small, not really suited for groups larger than four, and once winter hits it’s going to get worse when no one will want to stand outside. However, the wine and food easily make up for the discomforts. The wine is really very nice, and the Iberian tapas excellent. The prices reasonable. If you want to go there after work, I recommend going early as it quickly fills up, and expect to be patient if you want to get a seat. However, despite all this, this is a gem of an establishment. WARNING: many of the reviews here are confusing the coffee/sandwich shop owned by the same people around the corner. The place on Lexington is a small tapas bar with an Iberian theme, and has NO coffee, and NO sandwiches(despite the other reviews). Also no toilet, you have to go up the street to the nearby pub(not really bad, except that toilets are of a generally unpleasant pub variety). Also the times listed here are inaccurate, the place is definitely open on Fridays after 8pm, and I guess refers to the other establishment. Bottom-line: When a(somewhat) agrophobic vegan gives 5-stars to a tiny crowded bar with smoked animal legs scattered around, pay attention.

It’s perfect for an after work drink and nibble. The wine selection is limited but highly drinkable and reasonably priced. The nibbles are scrumptious. Full legs of prosciutto hang in the window and the freshly fried the chorizo is notably delicious. The cheese selection, although small is also fairly good. The space is tiny so you do have to arrive early or very late to get a space at the bar. Even though the space can be overcrowded at times no one shoves or pushes. The patrons here are uncharacteristically polite for Londoners; in my opinion everyone should behave as well as folks in this bar. it’s as they should be. The staff are also friendly and garner a fair amount of wine knowledge. Overall, it’s a lovely spot for a girls drink with the girls.

To clarify, this one is the non-coffee/deli version, the one on Beak street is the coffee/tea-serving version. It’s a really cute, wood-laiden, cozy spot. Pretty decent selection of sandwiches all with cuts of their cured meats, also with some vegetarian options, all of which you can get toasted. The aubergine sandwich looked so good but i wasn’t gonna go veggie in a charcuterie type place. They also had a salad selection, and a cold-cut/cheese plate menu that ran from about 8 – 20 pounds depending on the meat and cheese. Sandwiches run about 5 pounds on average, salads are about 4 pounds for a side portion. Quality of food is very good, fresh, and organic. I’ll come back.

Yes indeed, this is the very last espresso place I went to in London, and also quite good. There’s a sandwich shop around the corner by the same name, but don’t be confused. This is the coffee + pastries version. They do all the right things with the espresso, buy it in season, grind it just before running through the machine, tamp it down well, keep the espresso machine tuned for humidity, clean from the previous run, and most importantly don’t over run the shot. 20 seconds is good for a short or ristretto usually. Longer and it just gets more and more watery… Anyway, for designer coffee, you definitely won’t be disappointed here.

What a lovely place to partake in the tasting of some vino, jamon y queso. It’s the kind of place that inspires the twattish dropping of random Spanish words into conversation for no reason other than to prove your incredible worldliness and GCSE language finesse. Not because it’s one of those places that tries desperately to create a native ambiance to disguise the rubbish food, quite the opposite in fact. Sitting there of an evening, virtually on top of the waiters does have a tapas bar feel to it, but other than that the décor is white and clean, almost clinically so. The vino tinto I sampled was delicious and the jamon y queso equally divine, ya, ya. You can buy their products and take them back to your casa or start the evening(and possibly end it) in this lovely little house style bar.

Fernandez and Wells is a deli and café in Soho, split between two shops around the corner from each other. They sell incredibly good sandwiches and coffee, as well as Vichy Catalan water. I suppose it is top-end sandwich sort of prices but this is more than justified by the quality. They also sell cheese boards, which with a bottle of wine make a great mid afternoon snack for two. The deli sells a range of meats and cheeses, with something of an Iberian focus. Meats are cut from the joint in the shop. The staff are well presented, informed and helpful. Essentially a wonderful place and if you are feeling indulgent you can make the perfect lunch with a sandwich and a bottle of Vichy from here, a coffee from Flat White(though the coffee here is comparable) and a cake from Yautcha, which are both around the corner.
