With a Groupon in hand, my wife and I headed to Efes with a 7 o’clock reservation. Knowing we were coming, the starter of mixed meze was quickly served. According to my wife, the falafel is amazing. I wouldn’t know, there was only one on our plate(and my wife swears others received two). The main of mixed grill was really good value for money and the dessert was also delicious. I can’t help but feel though that we were rushed through dinner. Because we were using Groupon? Maybe, maybe not but the feeling persists. Good food but rushed service.

It’s kinda unfortunate Turkish food somehow got all wrapped up in the low-quality fast food hellholes on every street corner, and even worse that the kebabs are eclipsed by blaringly ugly red laughing chickens touting hamburgers and other fried crap. It’s really good, then, to see a proper Turkish restaurant with style and class. Efes has a nice bar, subdued lighting, quirky trappings, walls of photos and other bits and pieces that suggest it’s authentic and been around a long time. That said, the food was only alright; not bad, but rather unremarkable. It was a good thing I had the garlic yogourt as a starter, because my main grilled lamb dish would have been a bit dry without it poured all over the salad and meat. So, I’m divided on this one. Only just normal food, but it’ll scratch your Turkish food itch without having to get puked on by some drunk pubgoer at your greasy corner Kebab stop.

Effes was a great restaurant 20 years ago. Trouble is they have not touched it since. They also have not changed the food or the menu. London is now a great place to eat, they need to update the décor and the menu. And the loo’s ??? Do yourself a favour, pop to the pub. That having been said the takeaway is great. best kebabs around. Not unusual to see the whole street lined with Taxi’s. You can trust those guys to know a good place to pick up their food. So nix the restaurant, use the takeaway.

Overpriced for what you get. Don’t be fooled, the kebabs are not fresh, they are frozen. If you want a proper kebab head north. I had the vegetable moussaka and it was dull. I would not spend my money here again

I went in here for take away last week on the recommendation of some work friends. Good price, friendly enough. Paid £4.00 for a chicken shish with genorous salad in pitta, which is good value, but chicken wasn’t that nice. For central london, price was good, I just wouldn’t eat there again because of the quality of meat. Unless I was drunk!

Best Donner kabob in the area. Their lamb and grilled chicken are delicious and are NOT frozen as Susana mentioned. Full meal with rice and trimmings are £5 for small and £6 for large for take-away. I get Efe’s at least once/week.

There are some mixed reviews on here about Efes but my view is that this restaurant has been generally good. They do a nice set meal that has a mix of different meats and a mixed starter of tarama and tuna… The restaurant is dated and the toilets need a major overhaul. Service is generally good but some of the waiters could do with investing in some anti-perspirant.

A place with rude staff and cheat management. They definitely will bill wrong and inflated. My suggestion, plz do not go to Efes Gt Titchfield St.

Never, ever, go to this restaurant! I went there last night for the first time. We ordered vine leaves amongst other items, for starters and they were covered in mould! The food was rotten. It had a bizarre fungus growing on it, all over it. The type you get on mouldy bread, with spores on the surface. I pointed this out to the waiter and when the manager came over to talk to us, he was almost angry at me for having pointed this out. He asked me what I suggest he do, and why was I complaining! He then proceeded to explain to me that it is because they have lots of meals to prepare and don’t have the time to check every one before they were served. For the vine leaves to be this mouldy, they must have been over a week old or more. Obviously we didn’t eat anything else here, we just can’t trust the kitchen. If they leave the food to rot, then imagine how poor the meat must be, and it’s actually dangerous to be serving old and rotten food. The disgusting rotting smell is still with me today! I don’t think I can ever face eating another vine leaf ever again after this experience. In general, before the vine leaves arrived, the service was very poor, and surly. The décor of the restaurant is so dated, and the toilets are filthy.

Simply the best kebabs in London by far. There’s no other kebab that can live upto an Efes’ kebab.

This is one of the most famous Turkish restaurants in the whole of London, it is only around the corner from the Turkish Embassy, so you will often find a Turkish sophisticate dining here. It is very pricy so I am not a regular but it is definitely worth a visit, as long as you like the Mediterranean flavour. You can have a set menu, which will bring you around 3 dishes, and that would set you back around £25. If you are a big eater, something I pride myself in, then you will not be impressed. I had the set menu, and if I had another 25 to spare, I would have gone for round two, so I had a kebab to take away, that got a few smiles. Pushing the portions and cost aside, everything was delicious. The service is not fantastic, and I have often heard about people being over charged. I have never experienced this myself, and neither have my parents who dine here quite often, perhaps because my dad is Turkish. Well, my personal thoughts are, its great, but check the bill. ps, they do have a takeaway service and the doner Kebab is great!

For over two decades, Efes has been serving good honest Turkish food. This may not be the most modern restaurant you are ever likely to visit but when it comes to simple dips and well-cooked kebabs old-fashioned can be good. The takeaway option is popular with local residents. Meal are around £25pp excluding drinks.

As my local kebab shop i was horrified when i was taken to a local greasy latenight kebab shop and realised how far above the rest Efes is! Another local Taxi hangout… great food! Nice, friendly turkish staff. The take way is all freshly cooked as you wait, chicken, lamb, doner kebabs, the chips and rice are a great side order.

One of my favourite Turkish resturaunts. Everything was cooked perfectly, even the starter of Prawn cocktail was delicious and I can’t say much wrong about this place. And when you hear Kebab, don’t dare think of a greasy chip-shop doner. I chose to have a mixed kebab and I must say it was delicious, the preparation was great and the meat some of the best I have tasted. They give you quite a large amount and I finished it all easily. Service, even though i was with my Turkish grandmother, is very very friendly and the meal did not take long to reach the table. I would highly recommend this place for a thoroughly satisfying meal.
