Dall’Artista Restaurant

My wife and I dropped in based on the menu and were not disappointed. We arrived early on a Sunday and were the first ones there. She had the house Rose and I had a glass of house red. Both were very nice. The bruschetta was a nice light appetizer. My wife had the Linguine Teresa (olive oil, garlic, tomato, courgettes, rucola, mushrooms, pine nut sauce). I had the Fettucine Alla Salvo, which is meat, pesto, tomato, and cream sauce. My wife liked hers and I thought mine was terrific. Total bill was about £38. If in the area again, I would definitely go back.

This is a little tough to review. First and foremost the owner is a wonderful jolly man named Salvo. We had a large party here after a Chelsea game and he put together the downstairs for our party. The tables were all set with bread and water awaiting us. Shortly afterward slices of garlic tomato pizza arrived. This was a really nice touch since most of us were famished by this time. Perroni’s flowed like a river and we all ordered our dinners. This was a very boisterous bunch of folks, 14 of us, which the server did a good job to keep up with us.
The unfortunate thing was the quality of my dinner was seriously lacking. I ordered the chicken in a cream and mushroom sauce. The chicken was cooked, but unfortunately the viscosity of the cream sauce was severely lacking. Almost like it was just milk with some herbs and mushrooms tossed in it. A couple of the other folks dining with me ordered pizza which I had a bite of and it was average. There were mistakes in the orders and one of our guests pizza didn’t arrive until we were almost all finished with our entrée’s.
I think it was a result of the size of our party that may have made things a little hectic for the kitchen. I would be willing to try it again some time. At the end of our meal, the owner brought down a glass of champagne for everyone on the house. like I said, the owner was really a great host, service was okay, but the food wasn’t the star tonight.
