History

Established in 1983.

Costa Dorada first opened its doors to public during the mid 1980’s. It was established by Sr Pepe from Jerez de la Frontera. Since then Costa Dorada has gone through many changes but remains the house of live Flamenco in London. Back then the restaurant area covered only what is currently our bar lounge (and we still managed to accommodate a stage and a live flamenco show!). Originally the adress was 47 Hanway Street, but then in 1989, we acquired Hanway Street from 47 to 55, which allowed for extra space to split bar lounge from the restaurant, which is the actual layout now. The venue now has room for 250 people. Flamenco has been an integral part of Costa Dorada since the beginning and to date, it is the only venue with the regular flamenco shows in London. The most important thing for us are our customers and we will give our best to make everyone who visit us feel special and come back again. SALUDOS

Music seemed pretty good so we stopped in for a few drinks. The place is tiny! It was a struggle to push to the bar and the people behind the bar weren’t very friendly. The wine that was served to my friend tasted off and when she asked for something else they told her they would not swap it for anything. They then charged her £6 for a Kopparberg… £6!!! Ridiculous. We left after 1 drink.
No atmosphere, grumpy staff, outrageous prices… I would not recommend to anyone.

Went in here on a random weekday night when I was looking for somewhere that took a Taste London card. The place was virtually empty, and it’s quite a big place! Because of the Taste card I had we ordered a frankly ridiculous amount of food, I think it was 12 tapas dishes between two of us. We were hungry. We had a pretty good stab at it too, although we left a few dishes and felt totally stuffed at the end.
The quality of the tapas wasn’t bad, very similar to La Tasca if you’ve been to one of those. Service was friendly but then we were only the second occupied table in there.
Not bad but nothing to make me want to hurry back.

Just had dinner at this place last night and it was great! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The tapas were delicious! There isn’t a lot to choose from but what you get is good quality and fresh. (meatballs were a little cold and dry but everything else was delish!)
The Show! It was awesome! it was intimate, with one male and one female flamenco dancer, and they were amazing! The singer and the guitarist were also great, full of energy and all smiles.
When the flamenco show was over the dance floor was open. Friday night is usually pretty packed by 11−12pm but this weekend is a bank holiday so it wasn’t as crowed. The dj played some great songs (salsa, pop, etc). The songs were a little old but great to dance to.
Overall a fun experience! Ive been there with a big group too and it was enjoyable as well.

I’ve just come back from this restaurant and I HAD to review it immediately as it is ruddy brilliant. It’s on a side street by Tottenham Court Road tube and you could quite easily miss that there’s even a restaurant there. But step through the doorway and it opens up into a cavernous room with long, communal tables and a buzzing atmosphere. We had a table booked for 10pm, and just as our food arrived a flamenco troupe took to the stage (yep, there’s a stage). The dancing and music was the best I’d ever seen, and the tapas was the best I’d ever eaten. We ate a dozen dishes between six of us and it was a perfect amount, and came in at £40. Bargain. Everyone must try out this place — the fact that there were loads of Spanish-​speaking customers speaks volumes for its authenticity, and you won’t be able to resist tapping your foot along to the music as you munch on your calamari.

Wow !!! This place has some really good food. In short I was stuffed !!!
Their menu carries a wide variety of tapas complimented by a full bar. They also carry a good assortment of spanish beer. I was not too impressed with their table wines. Their red seems very oaky and dry. I would recommend a red wine off the menu.
As the other reviewers have mentioned, it is on a back street behind Oxford Street, but is very easy to find. The location is lovely and very accessible and very close to the tube. The best part about this resturant is after you are over stuffed with delicious tapas, you can take a nice walk down Oxford St.
This not a very snazzy place, but you could make a party out of with a bigger group. Last night when I was there, we had some live music too which went well along with good food and good company.
Do check it out … you shouldnt be disappointed.

For a great night of Drinking, Dancing, Dining and a Live Gypsy
Flamenco show, Costa Dorada has it, however be sure to get there before 9:30 if you’re going on a Fri-​Sat night as entry is free and you won’t miss the Flamenco Show.
Good food, great wine selection and friendly staff, your sure to have a really great time in Costa Dorada its only downfall are the prices, bottled beers start at £3.50, which more than exeeds the average London prices.
Presentation of food is tip top and of course with great presentation comes one thing… portions that could fill only a seven year old.
When its neighbouring pub (Bradleys) closes at eleven most of the ‘still in the mood’ groupies tend to wind up at Costa’s doorstep, for a night with the Colombian DJ, and a bar with more liquor choice than the average.
Your guaranteed to leave Costa Dorada having had a great night, I give it Four stars, you’ll agree if you like the whole Spanish thing.

Situated on a back street behind Oxford Street it is a bit hard to find. I actually used to pass this restaurant almost daily as I went to and from work. I never actually tried it but my friend took me there as he had been before and wanted to show me the live flamenco.
the food is Spanish and we ordered the Paella for two (what else would you share but Spanish Paella). We also ordered a really nice red wine which to my disappointment I cannot remember the name of.
The show was really fun but did not last all that long. It started around 9.30pm and we had already eaten by the time it began. We left soon after the show having had a really nice experience. I recommend this place but I wouldn’t choose the Paella next time as I thought it was abit bland.

Known only as the Spanish Bar for nearly a year (in fact I had to find out its real name in order to write this review), Costa Dorado has a special place in the hearts of many of my friends. I have never been there when it is in restaurant mode so can’t tell you much about that, but later in the evening it turns into a nightclub playing Spanish and South American music.
The door staff are genuinely nice, they even let you in to go to the loo while you are queuing. This assessment probably relies on your being pleasant and polite to the staff. Once inside, you pay an entrance fee and are given a ticket for food. This is a curious practice, considering how crowded the bar gets. Once you have exchanged your ticket for a taster plate, you then have to stand around in the middle of a nightclub trying not to spill food all over people. It would be better if they offered a free drink instead. By all accounts, the clientele are a mixed bunch, but the vibe is quite studenty. Overall, Costa Dorado is a reasonably priced, entertaining place to dance the night away, and a bonus if you happen to like Spanish music and/​or food.
