Established in 2010.

Cinnamon tree is only four years old, however it has all ready become the talk of Exmouth Market were this restaurant is based. The owners are from a catering back ground were they have worked in this industry for many years who then started off with a small Indian takeaway then realised that their passion in food goes far beyond and then started this venture with a highly qualified Indian chef who originates from Mumbai, India.

Never shying away from a new challenge, I decided to open Cinnamon Tree in islington serving authentic indian fare in an elegant setting. Combining seasonal food, an award –winning wine selection. A welcoming and knowledgeable staff and a very modern and contemporary restaurant, inviting ambiance. Cinnamon Tree provides every guest with a superb dining experience.

Amazing service and food.
Having been in the Exmouth Arms before there are a number of restaurants in the market to go to, having decided upon Cinnamon Tree we were treated to an amazing selection of food. We maybe went in less than 30 minutes before closing but we weren’t rushed out of the door.
The waiters were polite and explained some of their eclectic dishes and because it was quiet would chat to me and my friends.
I base most of my Indian reviews on the mixed grill and the one they served was amazing, I will definitely be going back. They also took Tastecard so managed to get 50% off the food.

I mourned the passing of my local Indian Chawol on Clerkenwell Rd (replaced by Temptations) for a number of weeks when it shut in 2014, but Cinnamon Tree has now assumed the mantle.
Reliable spot for good quality Indian takeaway. It’s actually ok to eat in as well as long as your expectations are reasonably set. Don’t expect a buzzing atmosphere. Do expect several occupied tables for 1 and huge portions of classic Indian dishes. The staff are also lovely.
The Chicken Shaslik is my default option, but I always try what my girlfriend is having (Jalfrezi, Bhuna, Madras) and it’s always good. Side dishes like the Bombay Aloo and Chana Masala are also solid.
If you want the satisfy a craving for a curry and a beer in a pleasant setting for less than £15, this is the best place in the Farringdon area.

So I Was in London up by Exmouth market for a week for work meetings. The location is great, of course, because there are so many options. I *love* Indian food, so I went here first. I went early (5:30pm-ish) because I was compensating for time-zones, but even still, it was weird that I was the only person in the restaurant. Certainly not the restaurant’s fault, though, so I ordered etc. The chutneys for the papadum were okay, not great, but a-ok. My food was also okay… not great, but fine. But what on EARTH took so long?! It was a good half an hour and I was LITERALLY the only person in the restaurant. Also, the service was not spectacular. The price is very low here, so that’s nice, but mostly just an a-okay place – nothing to write home about.

It has been nearly two months since I visited Cinnamon Tree and I’m still fantasizing about it…*sigh* we just don’t have Indian restaurants of this caliber where I come from (southern US). I took myself on a date here late one night — they’re open til midnight (a plus in itself) and I think I got there around 11pm. I rarely give 5 stars, but my experience was literally flawless.
First off, the ambience was perfect… clean, chic, and the blue lighting gave it a nightclub sort of vibe. I had brought a book with me as a distraction from the awkwardness of solo dining, but ended up people watching and listening to the chill/exotic Indian music playing in the background.
Service was great and surprisingly formal given the reasonable prices. the waiter pulled out my chair and brought a hot towelette when I was done eating. I even saw him rush over and help a guy next to me take off his jacket. Fancy!
And the food OMG. I got the vegetable balti and needless to say it far surpassed any other Indian food I’ve tried before. Really, really exotic blend of flavors. I stuffed myself like a wolverine and still had some leftovers. And it only cost 6 pounds. 6 pounds! Of course, the rice was extra but it still came to under 10 pounds. Extensive menu too, and I think a full bar.
So yeah, borderline spiritual experience… thank you, Cinnamon Tree, for making my usual Indian take-out joint in Columbia, South Carolina seem really, really subpar :(

In my past 2 trips to London, this was my 3^rd Indian restaurant and was easily the best (and one of the 3 I’ve been to was Amaya). I think I liked this so much because it is authentic. I had the chicken lunch special which came with a lot and was a great deal at 8 pounds. During lunch time, they also had take-away service in front of the restaurant for 5 pounds which seemed like a great deal. The food was good, the service was great, but the location was not one which would draw a lot of tourists. If you work or live around here, I highly recommend it. At the time of writing this, the restaurant had been open about 8 months.
