I stumbled upon this place when I was headed to the theater. It’s totally in the heart of the theater district, so it’s perfect for a pre-​theater dinner. The wait staff speak Italian, so I loved getting to practice my language skills. The house appetizer: fresh cheese and delicious olives. I had homemade pasta, recommended by my waiter. The staff is INCREDIBLE. They totally treat you like family. This place was so good, I promised to bring my friends back later in the week after they arrived in town. I totally did… I brought like 10 people back and everything was just as good the second time. Everyone enjoyed every part of the meal: the wine, the appetizer, the main course. OMG it is so good, I had to remember I was not in Italy because the food was so good it was like I was sitting at my great aunt’s place in southern Italy. I am totally looking forward to heading back here when I’m back in town.

I love Chez Victor, partly for its food but mainly for its brazen and bold cheek in firmly planting a French culinary foothold in the enemy territory of Chinatown!
Surrounded on all sides by oriental restaurants, Chez Victor proudly flies the flag literally for French cuisine with 2 huge French flags fluttering on flagpoles outside the restaurant.
The menu reels off some French classics but I’ve noted a recent nod to more populist dishes. In the old days, I’ve eaten uncompromising French classics like calf’s brain which is sadly no longer on the menu these days.
So if you can’t decide what Chinese/​Korean/​Japanese/​Taiwanese food to eat and suddenly want a complete change while strolling through Chinatown, you can do worse than head to Chez Victor.

Some people might love fishes cause they’re so delicious, but I loved Chez Victor. I actually had some fishes there, salmon that is. And oh what a salmon is was, all most and pink like a newborn baby. That’s a terrible comparison because I’ve never eaten, nor will I ever eat a newborn baby, but this is the simile that came forth through the keys of my computer. I also had soup. Minestrone soup. Twas a bit salty, but I still liked it mucho.
We were greeted by the friendly staff with olives and bread. Olives were nicely marinated. Bread was bread. The waiters struck the perfect balance between attentive and withdrawn, playing a Mozart on the chords of the waitstaff-​ing lute.
Even though I was there with a relative, it would have been a great date place. Surprisingly, the restaurant was somewhat empty, but that did not hinder my experience.
If you’re looking for a slightly upscale restaurant for a nice meal, say Chez Victor is a victor. Don’t you just love that lame pun?

Chez Victor is a quality Italian/​French restaurant with a large menu and wonderful daily specials. The wine list is also extensive and reasonably priced for Central London. While there I had the Veal Milanese and Frogs Legs as a starter. Both of these dishes were lovely, although when visiting next I think trying one of their many fish dishes would be a good idea. The décor is a bit busy for some but the serice is good and the food is very good. An ideal place for people going to a show on the West End or those doing christmas shopping who fancy more than boring fast food. Prices are not cheap but very reasonable for Central London.
