A very good value for money Spanish tapas, we had a great selection of tapas, in particular the aubergine and cheese.

This little gem was perfect for dinner and a glass of good Albariño. I had the mixed kebab plate on vegetable /rice. The kebabs were a mix of chorizo, lamb and chicken. All delicious.

Came here for dinner and had great food and service. From the moment we walked towards the door we were greeted and welcomed and given a table within a couple minutes whilst the restaurant was fully busy(we got the last table). Drinks were good– we tried the mojitos and mango caipirinha. We shared 3 tapas and a vegetarian paella and left full. We got the patatas bravas(amazing), tumbert(aubergine), and alcachafas(artichokes). All were really flavoursome. The only tapas dish I felt I might not get next time was the artichokes– though it was really flavoursome it was an incredibly small portion(a lot of sauce with a few halves of artichoke). Overall though a great group evening and excellent service. Will return.

Typical Spanish décor, pretty standard but very pleasant. The service was great, waiters were really friendly and smiley, even when I took an age deciding on my order! We had six plates between two of us and were very full, but mostly for the variety, you’d easily fill up on two. All the food was great, in particular the garlic mushrooms, the patatas bravas were really good too, pretty spicy though so you might want to factor that in before you order. We also had the national drink of Chili and Peru called a pisco sour which was verrrry strong but I thought it was a really good option to have on the menu. Then they had lots of Spanish wines and of course sangria! Overall, really good place for a Spanish meal!

OK don’t mistake this rating for the food! Because it is everything a real Spanish restaurant shouldn’t be. The food was tasteless and without seasoning; and drinks, hmmmn! They didn’t know what sherry was and the only sparkling wine they had was Prosecco! Anyway this review is about the flamenco they have every Sunday, and Monday. The only reason we spent money and hung around until late, and will go again but only drink beer, with food somewhere else! The Flamenco was outstanding(music, singing and dancing) ! I think the chef is not even Spanish!

Excellent authentic and good value. Came here on a whim for lunch and was impressed. My wife, having lived in Madrid for a year said this was some of the best tapas she has had in London. Service was quick friendly and helpful. Would go back in a shot

Discovered Gansa using Unilocal while visiting Camden Market. Needed lunch. Thanks Unilocal! Had a lovely vegetable casserole and the tapas standard: patatas bravas. Very reasonably priced in a very laid back restaurant.

I used to frequent a tapas bar in Vancouver, whose name I’ve promptly forgotten, so what could be more authentic than having Spanish tapas in Spain? Ooops! This happened in London! This is a transplanted Spanish tapas bar, owned and operated by Spaniards, with a fun, friendly and authentic vibe. I think the bartender and I became friends the minute we both discovered we had lived in Vancouver(separate time periods). It was the first place I went to shortly after landing in London, with little sleep and much enthusiasm to see everything! I ordered the torta de chorizo and a café late. It hit the spot. They have free wi-fi, so make sure you ask for the password. Nice cozy place to relax and prepare yourself for an exciting day of sightseeing and discovering ahead.

I love London because you can literally find any type of food you are looking for and chances are, it will be delicious and authentic. Bar Gansa is no exception. Located in Camden Market this place is quickly going to become one of my favorites. A perfect place to have a glass of tasty sangria during a shopping trip or a fun and lively dinner with friends, Bar Gansa serves up creative tapas that taste straight from Spain, and on Monday nights there is live flamenco dancing. I went here with 6 people and we each got different tapas, so there was a lot of sharing going on. My favorite was the classic tortilla Española but the Mejillones al vino(mussels in white wine sauce) were a close second. They also had paella but I didn’t order it as our table was already covered in food. The sangria is a must. They have red, white, rose, and cava varieties. We all got the traditional red and were not disappointed. They also have really cheap mojito pitchers and 2 for 1 sangria pitchers from 6−8pm. Talk about a happy hour. For dessert we had the rice pudding and the crème brulée. We wanted the churros con chocolate but unfortunately they were out. However the two that we ordered were absolutely fantastic. If the food wasn’t enough to bring me back into the restaurant, our extremely attractive Spanish server will do the trick. Regardless of whether he happens to be there or not, I will be back to Bar Gansa for the awesome Spanish food, in the middle of London.

I have walked by Bar Gansa so many times, I was due for stopping in and trying out this Spanish tapas bar and café. My first impression was good. I felt as if I could of been in Spain. Soft music with an ambient folk tinge, put me at absolute ease. I could of floated away on a raindrop I felt so chilled. There was a warm rustic feel to the décor with plenty of wood surfaces complimented with red and yellow painted walls. There is a full bar with a good compliment of cocktails on offer, but as it was 13:00 in the afternoon I decided on skipping cocktails and having a late Gansa breakfast. For £5.50 I felt I had good value for money. A full plate with sausage, bacon, beans, tomato, two eggs and toast, left me feeling very satisfied. It wasn’t greasy either which is always a plus. I have to admit to being a bit of a fan now. I think Bar Gansa may be my new Camden get away. I enjoyed the food, the music, the vibe, they have free wifi, and with a full weekly compliment of special offers and live flamenco on a Monday, Bar Gansa seems to be the full package.

Great atmosphere and great food. Tapas in UK is often hit and miss but this is definitely a hit. Acid test was the frittata which is so often reheated and rubbery — not here, was fresh and delicious. Patatas bravas crispy as they should be and some delicious grilled sardines, House red was cracking and service with a smile from the Spanish staff. Could have stayed all night! Gets busy very quickly, was rammed by 7pm and deservedly so. Excellent V for M.

I know this is a highly recommended place, and friends liked the food in the past, but I was utterly disappointed. The garlic bread was without garlic, the chopped tomatoes without any salt, pepper, herbs; the manchego/mango salad was without mango, and the stuffed pepper was completely tasteless as well(and highly overpriced). Only the tortilla was good. Maybe the chef had a very bad day, but I am not sure if I will try it again. The staff was very friendly.

Bar Gansa is the best Spanish Tapas place I have seen in or around London. With warm reds and yellows on the walls, and dark wooden tables and benches inside, the interior design alone takes you to a Spanish climate. In the swarming streets of Camden this place acts as a good retreat, because although it’s only minutes away from the tube station, inside doesn’t seem to get too crowded. My friends and I shared a jug(or a few) of Red Sangria when we went, which was deliciously flavorsome and went down almost too well! We also had a selection of tapas from their well-sized menu. Cooked until full of mouthwatering juices the Pimientos Rellenos(peppers with vegetable rice and olive dressing) are a must try! The Pan con tomate(garlic bread with tomatoes), although more simple was also very tasty. The food came in a combination of terracotta and ceramic dishes, looking adorably rustic and all the more Spanish. I am determined to go back on a Monday night to see some of the live flamenco(I might even bring my own castanets!).

I visited this place with my boyfriend’s parents a while back. The food was really, really great — tapas is always a good choice when eating out anyways. The difference with this place was that the food was also pretty affordable. We shared about 10 – 12 dishes between us all and the variety was superb. There’s something for everything with an array of veggie dishes and lots of seafood and meaty tapas available too. With drinks, the whole thing(4 sharing) was totally cheap. I loved the vibe and in the summer you can sit outside and enjoy the bustle of Camden market around the corner too. A total must!

Bar Gansa was a bit of a slow starter, but it grew on me. Not unlike moss. When you first walk in, it’s all rather unprepossessing. The décor is pretty humdrum and the bar service cannot be described as stellar, however charitable you might be feeling. Fortunately, the food is stunning. The last time I was there, four of us ordered a couple of dishes each from the tapas menu and one of my friends got the gnocchi and salmon. The food took about forty minutes to arrive, by which point I was seriously considering gnawing off my own foot. However, when it did turn up, there were literally mountains of it. They do things to marinated artichokes that you would not believe. The standard chickpea and chorizo combo was given new life and my friend’s gnocchi was sublime(I am one of those people who feels duty bound to taste everyone’s food). All of that, a round of beers and a couple of bottles of quite nice wine came to just under £40 a head. Basically, go there if you’re hungry and in no hurry. If you want a quick drink somewhere nice, I’d suggest you keep walking down Inverness Street.

Now I feel like I can only write half a review. I was so hideously hungover last time I was here that when they brought the food out I feel so unwell I had to go outside and couldn’t eat anything. So aside from the tiny bit of tortilla I did manage I can’t review the food. But, the guys I was with seemed to enjoy it. Though I’m not sure watching me go green helped them enjoy their meal very much. So why the review? And why such a low rating? I just can’t believe how bad the service was. It wasn’t busy, but it took us ages to get served. The waitress thought reading her paper was more important. Then she cleared half the dishes away but left the other half. She took so long to finally get out bill and then take our money that we were late. There was just no hurrying this woman. Service in Camden is generally pretty bad, but this was shocking. They have live flamenco here most nights, but I’m really not sure it’s worth the effort. Maybe I’d be syaing that if they food was spectacular but to be honest, while it looked fine, it was just standard tapas according to my friends. I’m now on the hunt for a fabulous tapas bar with great flamenco thrown in. Demanding? Maybe…
