I didn’t know Copper Kettle in its previous incarnation, but I did stumble upon it recently in its current position on St Johns Road and found it to be a charming little coffee shop, even if its location isn’t the greatest. It may be somewhat hidden down St Johns Road, but their tables are always full of diners whenever I go past, which is always a good sign for such a small establishment. Interestingly, they also offer free wi-fi internet(no doubt in an attempt to swing those Starbucks fans who like internet access with their cup of coffee) as well as access to a photocopier, scanner and fax machine. Quite what the old dears in there would want with a fax machine, I don’t know, but it’s a nice touch nonetheless. The food there is all very tasty and reasonably priced for what it is, meaning the Copper Kettle is a lovely place to go for a cup of tea or for a spot of lunch or dinner.

Arr the Copper Kettle, I was saddened by the closure of the café in the old Crown Buildings location, of course it was followed by promises of change and improvement, regeneration for Crosby village; what remains? A building site and the promise of an even larger Sainsbury’s. Excellent. Anyway, I was delighted to discover that the Copper Kette had opened up in new premises on St John’s Road, this is not really the best location aesthically and the shop looks a little pitiable externally, however, Copper Kettle’s doing well down in Waterloo. The café is nice inside and continues to offer the same hearty breakfast and lunch meals. The staff are really pleasant locals and welcome everyone with a smile.

How generous was Elliot with his review after keeping him waiting. My drink was not subject to a delay and if it were I probably wouldn’t have been as patient. Perhaps they were busy cleaning for their 4 stars hygiene award? This is a pleasant place to come for afternoon Tea between 4 and 5:30pm. It’s not the Ritz but then at £6.99 per person you can’t go far wrong. They also provide outside catering but I can’t comment as to the quality or speed of service of this. They have a few personalised pens and mugs, which make interesting souvenirs.
