Signature Cafe

I took my daughter to this café for lunch. They have a child’s menu comprising of 3 dishes — all of them with beans and smiley potato faces. My daughter doesn’t like beans and she doesn’t eat potato faces, she eats potatoes-​mashed, chipped, boiled. I asked if they would do a child portion of sausage and mash, which was on the main menu. I was told by the most surly young man I have ever come across that they don’t do that — no explanation, I said well she doesn’t like anything on the kids menu. Nothing! I went further up the counter and asked a more friendly lady, she unfortunately asked surly boy, he shouted down”. I’ve already told her. Charming. I left. There’s too many café in town to have to put up with that. You very rarely go to places these days who aren’t accommodating to kids. My daughter eats the same meals as us, not so called ‘kids food’. I don’t understand this concept of kids having their own menu — why can’T they just have a small portion of meals on the menu. Anyway, they lost my business that day and I won’t go back. Terrible customer service from the young man!
No stars, though not allowed

It is a little strange ascending through the floors of lighting, garden furniture and bathrooms, then strolling through the second floor, passing by numerous staged bedrooms: the wardrobes complete with dressing gowns, expertly made beds adorned with decorative cushions, before stepping into Signature, as if by chance.
Once in however, you forget you’re in a hardware store! Signature is beautifully decorated; it’s modern but tasteful, very sophisticated: neutral colours, huge hanging lamps and walls adorned with black and white snaps of famous scouse faces, which inspire no end of comment and discussion amongst the diners.
Although much smaller than the original Lee’s café that was once housed in this building, there is a reasonable sized seating area. Just prior to my leaving the café was quite full and it had become quite busy: the noise increased and it began to seem a little claustrophobic.
There is an extensive lunch menu on offer, most of which is made to order; the large sandwiches passing by via waitress looked very good indeed, however the food on the cold plate and hot plate served canteen style did not look quite so good, sparse more than anything.
Good range of drinks, although soft drinks are a little expensive.
