A big, bustling West Derby pub, the most baffling thing about this place is that half of the room was cordoned off with a rope. While this was most likely to separate drinkers from the dining area, it did just feel like they were expecting a massive celebrity to show up, like somebody from Hollyoaks. A pub has stood on this site since 1887 and this current incarnation may have a grim shade of the 1930s about it but inside the décor isn’t all that bad. A good place to come for a few pints.

This bar is part of a chain and as such it offers great value meals on its menu and has offers on such as 2 for £7 on a good selection of meals, which are well presented when they arrive and tasty. They also have a wide range of drinks available and they have lots of wine. You often find offers on these items, so look at the posters behind the counter. It’s a big pub in a quite rural looking area, with a bus stop right outside which leads into town, about 20 minutes away. The staff are not so friendly though, and can be rather aggressive and rude in my opinion, which is a downside. There is a lot of parking space available and you can also see hanging baskets outside. It’s a nice place overall, and confy, clean, spacious inside.
