I don’t often go to River Island, but I sometimes go in for a browse just to see if there is anything out of the ordinary in there. This is rarely the case unfortunately. I find the clothes in River Island to be rather bland, generic and they feel a bit cheap. Some of the items actually feel of a lower quality than much cheaper equivalents in Primark. The store is pretty cramped and the rails are quite close to each other. This seems to result in clothes being knocked off the rails by accident. When the shop is busy it doesn’t seem as the staff have time to tidy up as it can get a bit messy in the store. My advice, don’t bother.

River Island is located where the old WH Smith used to be. From the outside, it appears a glitzy and glamorous place for shoppers with an image for the latest trend. This is the reason it is so popular with young people and it should be, because most of their prices are reasonable considering the both the quality and type of clothing they offer. Amongst their range of men’s and women’s wear, is currently an abundance of summer clothing such as fashionable t-shirts, trendy shorts, sunglasses and caps(all of which come in a huge variety of colours, shapes and sizes) so there’s something to suit everyone. It’s bold, bubbly and exciting to see such a popular shop that is making good business with its customers each in every day — always a good indication there’s something special about the place. As well as this, the atmosphere, music and staff are all up to standard together with a logical layout making it easy to find what you’re after.

As with many other high street clothing stores, this branch of River Island in Liverpool city centre suffers from its decision to focus mainly on women’s clothing, with its men’s section upstairs almost as an afterthought. Whilst the women’s clothing seems to have the female seal of approval(according to my girlfriend, anyway), the men’s section has a habit of bringing out poor copies of Topman clothing at quite steep prices. I’ve also found they have a habit of attaching rhinestones to the back of a lot of their clothing, and a friend of mine rhinestones are not. The shop itself is newly refurbished as part of the Capital of Culture award a couple of years ago, which means its all very sparkly and nice to look at(as are the staff) so it’s a real shame the content does not match this generally.

I love River Island, they do some of the best clothing ever. Esp there jeans they are gorgeous and not to expensive(usually around 40.00).The shop is modern and well maid out decorated with disco balls and black and silver. They stock a wide range of items including. handbags, shoes, accessories, beach wear and underwear and there is a small changing room to try things on. Downstairs there is a men’s department and i have to be honest and say i have never ventured down there because i am usually shopping upstairs myself. The tills are right at the back of the shop and there is usually a massive que. esp at sale time when it get manic.

This store is ok, located by Vodafone and Clinton Cards. I am not wild about River Island because the clothes tend to a be a bit on the cheap and chavvy side but I have been in to browse nonetheless in the hope of being proven wrong. The shop itself is a fairly wide square shape with a flight of stairs on the left hand side going to menswear. They stock a good range of ladieswear items; most of the ones you’d see in magazines if you were going in there to find something you’d seen, you would be likely to be able to get hold of it. The staff lack customer service skills though and are rather brash, rude and unhelpful so if you don’t need any assistance, you’ll be better off!
