Trying to buy school shoes for my son and all I got was an attitude from the lady. Kept insisting I buy black sneakers. No my son will have black shoes for school. But she would not give me what I wanted. So I went elsewhere.

Possibly not one of the most trendy labels that will come to mind when thinking of shoe shopping — especially when the new Kurt Geiger sits next to it — Clarks are under going something of a revival. I have recently bought a pair of desert boots and pumps from Clarks and I am glad of this revival in their street credentials as they are real shoes that are made by a company with a specialist interest in feet and you can really feel the benefit. Probably not the widest selection of styles I still feel they are best for casual styles as formal shoes look a little too ‘comfy’ — something for grandad maybe?

With a generous selection of footwear on offer, Clarks does not fail to impress. Their variety and service are up to scratch, with shoes that come at moderate prices. Clarks is normally one of my port of calls whenever I’m in search of a new decent pair of loafers for example. Here, you can find good quality, genuine leather shoes that should last you for ages. I once bought a pair of black Mocassin like shoes that had a solid base and heel(with part hard rubber). Ever since, I’ve had no problems with them and they are still in good nick. It is shoes like these that I wouldn’t need to replace unless they become damaged. Getting reinforced base and heels at a shoe repairer would easily extend my wear out of them. Clarks also sell extra accessories to ensure you mainatin the condition of your footwear and obtain the best comfort(e.g. gel insoles, wax & polish). Overall, Clarks always remains a great place to come for anybody of any age because they have styles and fittings to match mostly everyone.

Great quality, fit and choice, but at a cost to match! You can’t beat here for school shoes — they certainly stand the playground test and though many people begrudge the highish prices, i think it ends up the same overall cost as buying cheaper shoes that need replacing much more frequently. Deffo a 1st port of call for school shoes.

clarks staff are arful at measuring shoes, the summer staff only have ½ days training and then are let out to measure your feet. also what they dont tell you is that the shoes run about 1 size bigger then any other shoe shop so if you buy sheos from any were else and go by clarks sizes then they wont fit. the shoes are also very bad quality and a rip of for indian sweat shop quality. the staff are not compitant with parents quesitons. people reconise clarks as a good brand but really hushpuppies, start right etc are much better.

I always buy my daughter shoes shoes from clarks, they are fantastic quality and measure her feet properly. I dont worry about the shoes hurting her feet and i know shes in the right size. They also have a wide range of shoes and change there stock with the seasons so there is always a new shoes to try esp when you need to buy new school shoes. I dont really rate the adults shoes, they are not really my style and tend to find they are aimed at older woman. They boots however are great as are the flip flops in the summer.

Very good service with reliable fitting — but you pay for it. Not for those on a tight budget.
